Anyone ever built their own PC?
Just wondering if any of you gamers had ever built your own gaming PC?
I put one together last month (not strictly for gaming but I plan on playing a few steam games and maybe putting an emulator on for some old school SNES games.
It's mainly a media PC (for downloading and watching TV shows and movies) but with a couple of upgrades, namely a discrete gpu I'd say i could throw most high end graphics PC games at it no problem.
What say you 606? Ever taken the plunge? Need any help doing it?

Very disappointed in this thread.
On the home page, the thread read "anyone ever built their own...."
I was really hoping the last word was robot.
Sorry I cant help you on either case.

I've done it on a number of occasions, its certainly the best way to get value for money if building

I'm on the drawing board stages of building a robot with my mate. I can't go into the specifics about it, but I'd keep watching the sky's...
...Hope that pique's your interest again

I really hope it could take out Sgt Bash from Robot Wars!
But yes, interest is piqued!

What did you use if for Dass? Do you play graphics intensive games? What sort of components did you use?

Re: Anyone ever built their own PC?
I've been building my own computers for about the last 10-12 years or so. In that time I've built 4 rigs, usually mid-range spec, so I can play all but the latest games, as well as do all the usual office type stuff.
Think I may actually be half-decent at it now...though my wiring usually leaves a lot to be desired. I never really got the hang of running them neatly around the case, using cable ties etc. Still, they've all served me well and unlike the earlier store-bought PCs I had, they're far easier to upgrade.
My current rig has:
ASUS M5A78L motherboard
AMD FX series quad-core CPU (4.2GHz)
8GB RAM (Corsair Vengeance)
1TB hard drive (Western Digital Caviar)
2GB ATI Radeon HD6670 graphics card, but am thinking of swapping this for a similar spec nVidia one.
Creative X-Fi sound card
