Pascal vs Hopkins 2 is on Sky: Who you picking?
22nd May, 11am on the Sunday.
I think Hopkins will win the return. Probably wont suffer the light knockdowns again, and is more tactically astute. Will have adjusted like he did in the later rounds of the first fight to outbox him.
Can he become the oldest man to win a world title? I think he can.

I think Bhop will win. I've never been that impressed with Pascal apart from the night against Dawson what else has he done?
Bhop knew to much for him and in the last few rounds made Pascal look stupid. Like you said can't see Bhop getting knocked down early again. Hopkins by wide UD imo.

I'm going to say Pascal. I think he will learn from his mistakes and take the fight on points.

Re: Pascal vs Hopkins 2 is on Sky: Who you picking?
Gonna pick BHop this time, am going to assume Pascal is going to try and swarm and maul again whilst being a bit wild....
Seems to enjoy guys who'll be there to swing at, if BHop can avoid getting clobbered this time i fancy him to sneak a razorclose UD... CERTAINLY won't knock Pascal out...
BHop is 13/8 by decision on Willhill, would expect UD to be 3 or 4/1 which willbe worth a cheeky tenner

13/8, thought it would be closer to evens. I'm on it, is it just Skybet you know of that offer UD's?

Yeah as far as i know anyway, Skybet don't appear to have the odds up for it yet... I know it's in Pascal's back yard but i UD is more predictable (if going for a pts victory) than say a SD or MD etc.
skybet will probs have slightly longer odds, will keep an eye on it as it's still a while away. Nothing can beat their odds for Khan by UD!

Dunno, there always seems to be one judge that has a wild card. One drawn or Pascal card and it's out the window.
Credit on that, you got me some money. But it was a nervous ride.

Would love to see B-Hop win but I think the last fight was more Pascal having an off-night and I think he'll make sure he's in peak career condition, which B-Hop cannot and win on points.
I think B-Hop will have his moments but I don't think there will be any controversy this time, but I hope i'm wrong.

I'm going for Pascal by wide UD. Bhop has shot his bolt in the first fight. Pascal knows what to expect and is young enough to adapt. Hop has to bloomin' get old eventually. This is it!!

I'm basing my prediction on how loose Pascal fights though...

He has aged but has adapted his style to incorporate the loss of speed and power. He can't work as hard as he used to be able to so has to be more accurate with his punches. He seems to take a few rounds to get going though so I think Pascal will go after him early again and hope to stop him. Don't see it happening though Pascal can be wild and I think Bhop will just have to much skills and know how for him.
Think the end might be if he takes on Cloud or one of the top SMW stepping up.

Not sure too with this one.
Am goin to be contraversial and say Pascal. If he can stay on BHop and be abit more efficient and accurate, I can see him winning a UD. He knows he has got the power to trouble be BHop, but he can't do what he has done in his previous two fights and go basically all out or I think he will lose.

- Gave Froch all he could handle in his own backyard
- Beat the avoided Diaconu with one arm, popping his arm back in about 3 occasions through the fight.
- Dropped Bhop twice in one fight.
And as you have mentioned, beat the avioded and ultra talented Dawson

He did but Froch wasn't as good as he is now he has got better the more top level experience he has got. Froch was a bit green at that level at the time. I think Froch would easily beat Pascal now.
The Diaconu fight was a good victory as was the Dawson one but I don't agree that Dawson is ultra talented I've never been totally sold on him. His defence is poor and he can be very reckless at times.
He did drop Bhop twice but then went on to be schooled by a 45 year old man who was robbed of the title.

I agree with soldier of fortune and am going for Pascal. Think he will bring his A game. Think he got excited by the knockdowns last time and punched himself out. He won't be making the same mistake again. Think he might even stop the old boy! (You heard it here first!!)

Re: Pascal vs Hopkins 2 is on Sky: Who you picking?
Pascal outworks bhop. Pascal let Bernard fight at his own pace and tried to potshot. He needs to get in his face and throw quick relentless shots. He doesn't have to load up with his hits. He needs to throw loads even if it doesn't hurt bhop. If he can do what calzaghe did he can win. Pascal has a strong enough chin to take bhops best shots at this stage of his career meaning he can drag it into a war. Bhop will be forced to fight at a high tempo which would tire him out. He is 46 and no matter how good a condition he is in his stamina is nothing
compared to what it was in his prime.

Calzaghe was very lucky to get the win over Bhop.

Calzaghe won that fight clearly for me, Hopkins just could not compete and had to spoil and crawling around of the floor howling like a dog does not win rounds for me.

As much as i'd love Pascal to stop and retire this idiot i dont think Hopkins is the type to be stopped, he's just too cagey, tough. But Pascal can win on points after another hard fight, i thought he won the first, in my eyes if your the champ and you drop a guy who's as tough and good as Hopkins twice and are the champ and win many close rounds, as well as losing the odd few you win a MD.

It's got to be Hopkins for me. As much as Jean Pascal is a good fighter, I think his style lends itself to athleticism, rather than ring smarts. As we know Hopkins sets traps all day long, and I can see Pascal falling for them. BHop'll have done his homework and he'll have a few new tricks for him, no disrespect to Pascal, but it takes one hell of a fighter to figure him out and I can't see him doing so.

I'm going for Pascal. eally don't know what happened to him last time. He seemed to fade badly and it wasn't a fast tempo.
Been entertaining build-up so far and the last fight was entertaining which doesn't happen too often when Bhop is involved.
Pascal to use his speed to get a points win.

I had there first fight 114 - 114. No way you can say either fighter was robbed. BHop was was practically 4 rounds down after 2. He did well to claw that back in my opinion.
Dawson is well schooled and has speed and good fundamentals and puts his shots together well. BHop avioded him for a reason

I had Bhop winning by 2 rounds maybe robbed was a bit stronh. I'm hoping he wins then etires the oldest worl champion in history. I've always been a big Bhop fan.
Hop will avoid speed at all costs the guy is in his mid 40s.
My problem with Dawson is all the tools are their but he at times doesn't usee them well enough he can be quite sloppy and lazy. He should never have got beaten by Pascal but never really turned up

I think Dawson just struggles with Pascals style, think Dawson was more concerned about not burning himself out, rather then getting the rounds in the bag. And it was too little too late as he was rallying late.

Loved the exchange after Pascal's impression.
"It was pretty hilarious and I loved it".
"Kids. This is a brain on drugs. It's bad for you"
"The only thing you're gonna beat up is this table, so keep knocking on it."

I'm going for Pascal, most likely U.D Much as I like Hopkins, he hasn't stopped anyone since De La Hoya and he was only just a middle weight.Hopkins hasn't looked like stopping anyone as a super middle or light heavy. Pascal will have learned from the first fight and I think he'll realise that Hopkins isn't going to hurt him

Not sure mate Sky signed the contract to show it not long ago it was originally meant to be on Primetime but they are closing down soon. Sky ight not have been willing to pay enough to get the full show live. They had nothing from the undercard of Ward/Abraham.

True Scott although they better not start doing that with all the big fights from America now, they used to do it a few years back, can remember getting up early every Sunday morning, thanks mate.
Thanks Kev, lets hope they've just purchased the fight too late and it's not a sign of things to come.

Can't see them doing it with the bigger fights that they think will do well. They didn't with Pacquiao or Berto, aren't with Froch. Realistically though, Ward vs Abraham has little interest in Britain and wouldn't do well in the middle of the night.
Wont be a rights issue as the promoter/s own/s the international feed, same as with pretty much any fight. That's why you see the Sauerland or Top Rank tag when Sky doesn't take their own cameras.

Not so bad then Scott, i agree that Ward/Abraham has little interest because i ain't too fussed myself, and can see why Hopkins/Pascal falls into that category although it's a fight i'm interested to see the outcome of. Not sure who will take the win in that one.

The promoter owns the international feed but charges more for live showings of the fight than delayed replays. Sky were probably not willing to put it on live because it doesn't have much interest over here and only won the rights to the fight after Froch signed with matchroom which never gave them much time to build up the fight either.

I believe that before Smith took over neither of these would have even been on Sky. Nor Ringside. It's improving IMO.The Galveston Giant wrote:Not so bad then Scott, i agree that Ward/Abraham has little interest because i ain't too fussed myself, and can see why Hopkins/Pascal falls into that category although it's a fight i'm interested to see the outcome of. Ringside is a good show but what happened to Jamie Moore going to gyms all around Britain to see how the fighters of that gym trained. He done it once with Billy Nelsons gym in Glasgow and hasn't done it since.

Very true Scott. For all Smith's endeavours in consolidating boxing as a major attraction on Sky, and I think he has made promising strides, I imagine he is still under pressure from his paymasters to "hype" upcoming PPV's as much as possible.
