Chiefs vs Brumbies - Super Rugby Final
First topic message reminder :
For anyone up early enough and the SH fans on the board. I'll be keeping an eye on Chiefs captain Craig Clarke ahead of his move to Connacht, Gareth Anscombe on account of his dad being Ulster head coach and me having a couple of pound on him to score the first try
For the Brumbies I want to see more of Speight after his amazing setup for Mogg's try last week against the Bulls.

Scrum was going backwards and Messam used it to his advantage...somehow.

You just cannot win matches without an accurate kicker, simply too hard to beat a good team without one

That's the thing with this Chiefs side, they have the ability to score from anywhere.

Chiefs ahead for the first time. Brumbies have some questions to answer now, let's see what they've got.

How many points did cruden miss? Only caught the last twenty but glad I did. Fair play chiefs. delighted for them. Unlucky brumbies. Looked to have run out of gas.
Connacht look to have landed a good one in Clarke

Wonder if GE noticed the probable forward pass in the buildup to the last try?

A victory for rugby. The positivity of the chiefs overcoming the negative tactics of jake white and the Brumbies.
I thought Brumbies were very lucky not to lose a man to the sin bin - but it showed when the were on a final warning that their defence could not contain the chiefs legally.

My god you're boring GE.
There is such thing as being a gracious winner. Perhaps you should try it some time.

Re: Chiefs vs Brumbies - Super Rugby Final
Great win for Chiefs, hopefully see them defend the title with SBW back next season.
Retalick & Messam were immense, Brumbies just lacked a game changer in the backs. As much of Leinifano kicks well, he doesn't add much in attack (good intercept mind)...... he's the Aussie Farrell!

I goit called away for an emergency right at the end. Saw it but was running out the door.
Was fun chatting gents. Good match. Brumbies needed a bit more of something to close the deal. But good for Chiefs. Good way to spend the wee hours of the morning.

Attack the post, not the poster
It's a fact though...the Brumbies went out to spoil, kick for territory And ping penalties. Boring, negative rugby. The chiefs went out to create, attack and defend honestly. At the end the creative team won out and that is a great thing for the game.

I'm not attacking anything GE, merely stating a fact.
You can bleat about the Brumbies at the breakdown all you want, they were just more streetwise there for 60 minutes than the Chiefs were. I do love your defend honestly comment about the Chiefs though. I didn't realise they all wore halos and never infringed at all. Well done them!

Brumbies were doing well despite it being 16 versus 15. Joubert always bottles it in New Zealand. Can't wait to see him demoted from the IRB's elite panel.

Re: Chiefs vs Brumbies - Super Rugby Final
I imagine Saint's issue is that he eventually spotted the rampant Brumbies offsides around the ruck and began pinging them. I thought he had a good second 40, after an overly tolerant first half.
Eventually he clocked on when he warned "It can't be coincidence that you guys lack discipline every time you are under pressure in this area of the field". From then on, he took a better attitude to the deliberate infringing that was cynically slowing down the Chief's attack. From there on in, it was fairly inevitable that the Chiefs would win it.

Re: Chiefs vs Brumbies - Super Rugby Final
Gutsy stuff from the Chiefs to come back like that. Though Mogg's failure to find touch was absolutely criminal.
The Chiefs forwards were passing short to each other to break the gainline very much like the Crusaders and ABs. The up and in curve of the Brumbies defensive line was effective-we've seen it before-but it can lead to holes if the ball can get around said curve. The passing has to be precise though and too many times the ball was caught high enabling a Brumby to smash the recipient. Great timing on getting to TKB too who had a pretty average game-but he was still lively throughout so he kept plugging away.
Brilliant stuff by Messam. Such a talisman at this level. It's a shame he's just not quite there in the black jersey.
Think poor Saint didn't see the last Bledisloe test...

Bit awkward I guess, when one mod is anti Ghostie, one is anti WLG.
Still, we can't talk names until the official name changes we have been waiting for (for a month or more).

SGD, SBW is having a great year back in league and remains a star in both codes. Think he's actually playing smarter and not just running into people. He's on the sideline for 2 weeks for shoulder charging his old mate Willie Mason, bit of bad blood, cause Willie lied to SBW about staying at the bulldogs way back when SBW split.

Well done chiefs. Bench changed it.
Nic white had mare 2nd half chiefs replacement 9 and Robinson outstanding.
Tkb had a poor game and was owned by smith who is exceptional. Cruden dire and white best coach in world.
Toby smith and Connacht signing coup excellent .
Messam stepped up when matters and well done chiefs to win

Retallick was exceptional in second half and his contact work at ruck deserves a big mention

Sign of a good Backrow Pete agree. Smith fardy mowen carter all good there. Smith read game so well. George smith man of match for me.
Tkb struggled to get ball away and got scragged a lot due to bumbies owning break down for 60. Brumbies stopped chiefs until they ran out of steam
