Wilder (spoiler)
Wilder is fighting tonight and is likely to win to improve his record to 29 wins and 29 Ko's.
Golden Boy chief executive Richard Schaefer has also said that Wilder may fight the winner of the seth mitchell v chris arreola fight scheduled for september.
Mitchell v arreola looks liks an exciting match up and I would be impressed if Wilder took on the winner.

Re: Wilder (spoiler)
I agree, his level of opposition is so poor it is unbelievable.
I think that if he fights the winner of mitchell v arreola that it may be a big step to too soon, considering the fact all of his opponents have so far been complete unknowns with no hope whatsoever.

Re: Wilder (spoiler)
Not sure why liakhovic is seen as such a poor opponent. The guy is a former world champion and put in a great performance (well decent) performance against helenius.
As for the fight, Deontay looked good for the short time it lasted. The finish was devistating.

Re: Wilder (spoiler)
Wilder has scary power. Hopefully the Arreola v Mitchell winner gets made next. Mitchell has no chance of seeing the end in that fight. And Arreola should be able to give wilder enough of a challenge to see what his boxing skills are like.
Scary power though liakhovic legs flapping in that involuntary motion...

Re: Wilder (spoiler)
The KO was fairly sickening, a fighters muscles spasming as they lie unconscious on the ground really is scary stuff.
Without a win in 3 years and have lost every round to Valuev is a UD a couple of years previously suggests Liakhovich has been done for a while.
As mentioned in the OP Goldenboy seem to be pushing Wilder towards a fight with the winner of Arreola v Mitchell. I don't know how much that will prove but it would be a step up of sorts.
Still as many question marks as answers over Wilder for me although few could doubt the power of his big right hand.

Re: Wilder (spoiler)
Strongy I would suggest that Arreola or Mitchell is a decent step up as both have been fringe world-level for a while and although Arreola is probably on the slide now he is a half decent fighter and he does have heart and a chin (of sorts).
I don't think either would fold like Liakhovich who I think may have been there just for the payday. He hadn't fought for 17 months.

Re: Wilder (spoiler)
I still want to see him againt two ranked opponents before going for a title. Arreola would do for one. But you can better people will use this KO as proof of K2 ducking him, regardless of the reality.

Nice to see him still gesturing and posing when they are trying to get a stretcher into the ring for his fallen opponent who only moments earlier went into spasm.......classless.

I have to agree. It almost looked at one stage that he wanted his photo taken with him standing over the unconscious fighter.
Domestic altercation and now this, not coming across as being too clever.
Let's see how he reacts when he eventually fights a decent opponent that can land a bomb on his jaw.

We are thinking like fans of boxing where we want the best to test themselves against the best, as opposed to a business which is there to make the maximum amount of money. To the boxing fan, which I know you are so please do not take this as a dig (not my intention at all), the fact that he can make more money by waiting does not factor into the equation.TRUSSMAN66 wrote:Why does he have to step up...........Wait the Klits out and fight for million dollar purses..Strongback wrote:Wilder has to step up at some time.

He is under Goldenboy promotions and fighting on their TV slots. If he doesn't get in with a credible opponent he will be dropped and his pay days will disappear faster than an intern's virtue at a Clinton Cigar Club meeting.
He also coming across as classless which singles him out for dislike.

Not going to drop a heavyweight with an unbeaten record...Heavies pull in high figures and get paid huge amounts for having alphabet titles....
He is a big asset....and he's not very good.
Wait the Klits out..Or wait till they show more deterioration..
Look at PRICE !!

Re: Wilder (spoiler)
I remain utterly unconvinced by Wilder. It's all very well battering the likes of Harrison (no chin) or Liakhovich (not exactly active) but there is NOBODY else on his record who has a name other than Owen Beck who was totally shot. Unless you want to count "Dangerous" Damon Reed; not one to really mix at the top level...
I will be convinced when he starts fighting those who aren't shot and actually have a chance of winning, has a few dodgy moments and then wins. Knocking out shot fighters and nobodies in 1 or two rounds proves nothing other than he's got a sledgehammer in his right hand. And he needs to be told to rein it in re the posturing when his stricken opponent is clearly not doing too well...
I for one will be very interested to see what Arreola or Mitchell can do with him. Someone who can take a dig and can fire back is what he needs right now.

Re: Wilder (spoiler)
Wilder is nt gaining anything by knocking out these bums in 1 round. we know and he knows that he is better than that standard hence why he is knocking them out with the first punch that lands.
Lets hope he faces arreola or mitchell next.

Might be another Duane Bobick scenario who was unbeaten and looking a million dollars before running into a brick wall in the shape of Ken Norton who promptly had him for breakfast.Mr Bounce wrote:I remain utterly unconvinced by Wilder. We all remember the line from Enter The Dragon when O'Hara is told by Bruce Lee's character that 'boards don't hit back'. Bully-boy Wilder will do well to remember that 'bums don't hit back'.
Two slices of 70s nostalgia for everyone there.

No, Truss. Frank had already had a World Title shot by his 30th fight and had fought a few names.

Re: Wilder (spoiler)
Wilder has great power, but there's so many holes in his game that the first opponent he faces who can handle being bulldozed is gonna terrify him. He drops that left hand far too much. Lucky for him the HW division has terrible technicians these days. He could well make it to a klitschko fight - at which point he'd be destroyed.

Wasn't saying Bruno was great Truss; just that he'd actually fought some people who could punch back and were recognised names in the division.

SO that i avoid fulfilling your fantasies and avoid an argument with you this will be my last response on the issue.
You can carry on screaming that you liked it that Wilder celebrated next to a guy who was spasming and carried on celebrating when a stretcher was brought into the ring but I wont bite, someone else might but not me.

Re: Wilder (spoiler)
Impressive stuff from Wilder. Sergei has been irrelevant for years but it was great knockout nontheless.
Still way too early to talk about him as a future unified champ, let alone a future ATG.
Seth Mithcell looked a million dollars against Ibragimov, as did Price against Harrison - and look what happened in their next fights.
Wilder has flaws and his opposition has been poor but at least he's fighting often and keeping active.
