The Russians are coming.

As part of their WC warmups, Kingsley Jones is bringing Russia to Wales for two friendlies.

V Dragons - 17 Aug.
V Ospreys - 20 Aug.

I think this is great news Risca, I love the fact that the Welsh public will have a chance to watch the Russians play rugby. Think it'll be a great occassion for both the Dragons and Ospreys too. Really considering getting a ticket to one of those matches - reckon it'll make for a great day!

Great for the Welsh rugby public to get exposed to other nations too.

Anyone know much about Russian playing style?

Given that Russians tend to be quite large ( even the ladies!) I'd imagine that they will approach the game from a physical angle.It's tough to be adventurous and innovative in the earliest stages of rugby development, so I expect a forward orientated game with some BIG forwards hoping to make name for themselves.

This game will be a part of the season ticketed games so if you have one you will get in for free.

I just had a look for information on the Russian rugby team, it appears Sale has just signed a second row and Northampton also has a Russian second row. The national team just missed out against a French non pro side. I suspect they will be a big athletic side but lacking experience. Their womens team don't look too bad see below:

Hopefully they'll bring a grizzly tighthead over, so Dragons can ship out Ben Castle and/or Nigel Hall. Sort the Dragons tighthead problem out then just nicely.
