Best 9 I have ever seen by a long way. For me he is a bit like Drico, once in 100 years sort of player. Mighty, mighty player.

Correct me if I am wrong but despite lots of research the medical profession has absolutly no idea what causes motor neuron disease does it? Its a horrible thing.
Recently Colm Murray a very well known sports broadcaster died of this disease. Horrible to see.

Very sad article, a bitter conclusion to one of the best ever to grace his position. He's taking it on the chin though, a class act to the last breath.

It is such a shame that joost is suffering like this. He was one of the best players to take too the rugby field. He truly is a great legend of the game. I do wish him well.

Fantastic player. Best 9 to play the game? Certainly one of the best anyway.

Re: Joost
Joost was certainly one heck of a physically and mentality tough cookie on the pitch, best i've seen. He's sadly lost that physical strength but sounds like his mental game remains strong, Kia kaha fella.

Re: Joost
We have a few ideas about what causes it but no real idea how to treat it once it has started. The hope is that stem cell transplant will help but it's a long way away and the pathology is quite complicated. It's to do with oxidative damage in the cells of motor neurons for a variety of reasonsGunsGerms wrote:Correct me if I am wrong but despite lots of research the medical profession has absolutly no idea what causes motor neuron disease does it?
