And Jon 'Angela' Welsh and Finlay Gillies for Glasgow Hawks - is this player management at the extreme? Toonie will be hoping there's a win else he'll have some egg on his faceRDW_Scotland wrote:Just read that Josh Strauss is going to be playing for Aberdeen grammar tomorrow - ooft!

Re: Glasgow Warriors v Cardiff Blues, 6 September
A Currie Cup-winning captain playing for Grammar. I love it - Strauss will be three times larger than anyone else on the pitch. Completely agree with the comment above, though - if Toonie has rested some of his best players and Glasgow doesn't take a bp home win, it's'going to look like misjudged player management.AsLongAsBut100ofUs wrote:And Jon 'Angela' Welsh and Finlay Gillies for Glasgow Hawks - is this player management at the extreme? Re: Glasgow Warriors v Cardiff Blues, 6 September
Bizarre decision. Strauss if fit would have been one of the first names on the team sheet for me. The contribution he made last season was incredible, particularly with regard to ball carrying and making hard yards. Who in the back row is going to make hard yards? Harley isn't the most prolific ball carrier, Vernon is good when given space to attack, but neither offer what Strauss does. Moreover, with so many other 1st 15 players out, you'd think they'd be eager to select the few that remain!
Anyway, still can't wait for the game to kick off

Totally agree!jimbopip wrote:George, I think referring to Fraser Brown as an internationalist is, like my waistband, stretching things a little too far for comfort. he hardly has had enough appearances to qualify as a Glasgow player yet.
Toonie must see something he likes in Brown as he has got him on the bench in-front of Hall and Gillies, both of whom are fit and start club games this weekend.

Looks as though it'll be a big crowd, less then 300 tickets left apparently. So hopefully we'll see 4700+ at Scotstoun tonight!

I'm very much looking forward to this one - anyone heading to Scotstoun tonight?

Re: Glasgow Warriors v Cardiff Blues, 6 September
OK folks, since you're all here, and in a desparate attempt to outdo my old buddy Radge, I've signed up to walk 20 miles for the NSPCC on 21 September in London with my family (taking the overnight train from Glasgow immediately after the Leinster match...).
If anyone has spare cash, or just likes storing up good karma, please donate.

You can debate amongst yourselves whether it's tougher to run 10k or walk 20miles. Frankly, I think I've got the easy option!

We're not really gaining much ground when we pick up and go at the breakdown. Could be a real weak point for us this season.
