Rewriting the Invasion storyline Empty Rewriting the Invasion storyline

Post by Adam D Tue 03 Sep 2013, 08:41

On this weeks podcast, the world famous* off topic discussion in part 3 deals with rewriting the Invasion storyline for the new generation. of fans.

The premise we came up with was if Vince bought over TNA and decided to rerun the WCW/ECW invasion storyline, how would it play out?

I think we could all assume that WWE would win but what matches would you do? What token TNA star would win one of their respective feud against the WWE?

And who would you book in the traitors to WWE in the storyline?

Love to hear your thoughts....

*world famous is not representitive of the world. Although we do have at least one listener in the US - Hi Todd!

Magnus or AJ Styles would be the 2 that I had coming through from TNA. The problem is their unique wrestling styles. I would perhaps have Magnus fueding with someone like Orton and AJ with Daniel Bryan or Punk as a sort of Indy rehash.

Traitors - Big Show, Mark Henry and Cena

The 5 on 5 match would probably be along the lines of;

WWE: John Cena, CM Punk, Big Show, Daniel Bryan, Vince McMahon/Triple H
TNA: Bully Ray, Samoa Joe, Kurt Angle, AJ Styles, Hulk Hogan

The TNA stars to "make it" would be the ex WWE ones, like Jeff Hardy and Mr Anderson.

Similarly the WWE stars to become traitors would be the ex TNA ones, like Christian, and, er...

High Spots has a DVD where Vince Russo is guest booker and re-books the WCW invasion. I haven't seen it but it may be worth a watch if you're interested in these things.

I know he suggests he would have started the angle off by bringing in Sting, Steiner Goldberg, Hogan, Nash, Hall etc

I would imagine that WWE would have started it that way if those wrestlers would have played ball?

Well they were all happy to sit at home and get their guaranteed money, one of them had something silly like 21 months left.

The problem was for them to come over to the wwe, vince would have to have bought out all their contracts as their contracts were with Time Warner and were non-transferrable. So vince bought all the contracts of the younger talent who were cheaper rather than the guys on huge salaries.

It's a shame but it is what it is
