Burns - Beltran; ***FIGHT NIGHT THREAD***
Anyone know much of Beltran? I've got to admit I don't but he's ranked high enough by Ring Mag for me to think this should be a competitive fight.
As much as I like Ricky he's never struck me as a 'world level' type of fighter. Fringe perhaps. A domestic fighter done good for sure but despite one or two decent enough wins I've always had the feeling that he's limited. He got very lucky last time out agianst a fighter with a bit of class (although seemingly no heart).
Anyone shed some light on this one for me? I'm looking forward to it all the same.

Not sure King mate. He is one of those fighters where you hear his name mentioned quite a bit but not seen him fight or seen any of his fights at all.
Burns is a decent operator, like you said. His heart pulled him through last time out against someone id never even heard of, but quite clearly had bags of taken with no heart.
Im predicting a UD for burns this weekend based on my lack of knowledge on Beltrans behalf.

the other guy getting injured won it for Burns last time. not disrespecting Burns though, that guy was quality. Beltran is not as good and I think Burns has been well matched here in order to get him a win before they look for a bigger fight.

Very much looking forward to this now, no less because it kick starts an excellent few months of boxing. I'll have to be out of the room or have the volume off for the teeth grinding bagpipes and Flower Of Scotland but other than that I'll be glued.
Obviously hoping for a Ricky win but most of all a good performance after last time.

Haven't seen a lot of Beltran and have heard mixed reports about his ability. You never underestimate a Mexican, but if he's much better than expected you'd wonder about who's doing the match-making given there are a couple of potentially huge fights on the horizon.
One thing's for sure, Ricky looked terrible against Gonzalez. Got tagged frequently and his movement was well off. Hope he boxes this guy at range, short combinations and away. Get him out of there. A war isn't necessary.
Burns by late stoppage.

I deffo want Burns to win it, being British and all that.
Beltrans a tough little guy though, it shouldn't be easy.
Sadly I'm not getting to watch it, at work until 11PM, going out for my mates birthday, and then back at work for 7AM tommorow. #ReadyForIt

Looking forward to this, be interesting to see if Beltran has that Wildcard style of all out attack and very little defence.

Lovely body shot by Smith drops him in round one, and it's all over.
Hope you put money on that Union. Smith needs to be stepped up now, he works the body very well for such a tall guy, has a good jab and looks to have real talent.

seen beltran few times, burns should win a wide clear decision, he is good at rolling his head to punches but average in everything else - fringe contender, would beat the likes of gavin rees - but on that level

Graf impressive considering its his 1st time in fight like this.. but Simmons done enough to take decision.
Burns to stop Beltran betweens round 7-9. Apparently Beltran is Pacquiao's sparring partner.

Simmons should have spent more energy on Graf's body. Not a bad fight between novices though.

O flower of Scotland
When will we see your like again
That fought and died for
Your wee bit hill and glen
And stood against him
Proud Edward's army
And sent him homeward
Tae think again
The hills are bare now
And autumn leaves lie thick and still
O'er land that is lost now
Which those so dearly held
And stood against him
Proud Edward's army
And sent him homeward
Tae think again
Those days are passed now
And in the past they must remain
But we can still rise now
And be the nation again
That stood against him
Proud Edward's army
And sent him homeward
Tae think again
When will we see your like again

And stood against him

Good fight that.
Not mad on Cardle......
Moving on, in going for Burns LKO or wide UD. Should be good fun though, got it on my laptop on silent whilst the missus sits ahead of me watching sky. Bliss.
Usually its me by myself at stupid oclock. Makes a change.

Yeh but beltran has been sparring with pacquiao who punches like a hammer on steroids.
Going in against Burns must be a relief in terms of power.
saying that, burns has a few stoppages of late......

There was a time when fighters with tattoo's were almost to a man crap.
Don't like Ricky's tat's especially the one high up on his neck. Has he been to jail?
