The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Trebanog
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The pub has made its way to Trebanog, the home village of Cliff Morgan.
So grab a beer, cider, whiskey or wine.... or a warm beverage and sit back and enjoy the 2013-14 rugby season.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of the legendary
Cliff Morgan, Dorothy Squires & Esme Coles, Jason Tovey, Aaron Smith and Monterey Jack.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Trebanog
Indeed Cari.
Hound,
I was talking about the 2 girls caught smuggling cocaine out of Peru a few weeks ago.
When they appeared in court one was wearing a green top and the other a white tee shirt and leather jacket. When they left the court building they had swapped clothes.
Now, girls wear each others clothes all the time. They will borrow from each other to make a new outfit for a night out. It just seemed a really strange thing to do in those circumstances though. Like somehow a court appearance for drug smuggling was a social outing?
Can't get my head around it at all.
But then again. I can't get my head around drug smuggling to begin with.

Having said that MrsP maybe it's necessity. The conditions in South American cells aren't great, and maybe there's a shortage of clean clothes and one felt smelly...or it was a pathetic attempt to confuse the waiting journalists...but yes, an odd thing to do.

Ah, ok. Seems like a bit of an odd thing to do alright, given their circumstances.

Yeah, I could see they might want to put on different clothes but it looked like they just did a straight swap.
Who knows. It did make me think that neither one of them has much of a grasp of the severity of the situation.
Not sure there is an awful lot of synapsing going on there. Seems like they figured that a defence of,
"A big boy did it and ran away!" would see them get a reassuring hug and a business class flight back home.

Can't get your head around drug smugling Mrs P?
You get loads of money for getting on and off a plane/boat/whatever.
That's it in a sentence.

Penfro, do you know if you'll be coming to the Mogliano game with Gibbo in a few weeks' time? If so, I can pick up your ticket when I get Gibbo's on Saturday (unless Rev's already done so).

No problem, Penfro - although saying that, the Dragons website doesn't show Mogliano tickets on sale yet. I'll call by tomorrow anyway in case the website's wrong. It has been known!
It's good news for the Blues that Warburton's back, but Leinster at the RDS is still a tough assignment. They might win, who knows, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Most people could not live with the risk. Some people see it as easy money though (compared to working) and don't mind the risk.Jenifer McLadyboy wrote:Can't get your head around drug smugling Mrs P?

Same with prositution. Most of us would see it as waaaay beyond the bounds of what would be acceptible to us, some people see it as easy money in terms of time spent.
Once you get over the risks of both occupations (and providing you have no moral objections) it is an excellent rate per hour compared to say working in a fast food joint.

Why does Phil Steele always, and I do mean always, insist on asking players and coaches about ref decisions at half time and in his post match interviews?
I think it sets a really bad percedent. It also adds to the perception of whinging.

It's not his fault though, is it. They all are probably told what to do. Why does Geoff Shreeves get classed as the bearer of bad news for the sky football interviews?
It is his job to find out coach/player's views though, as stirring as it seems.

I suppose so but he does it every single interview. Usually before he has actually talked about anything else.
Surely that isn't necessary?
There are better things to talk about, no?
Feeling confident about getting a result in Cork?

Nope. An LBP would be a good result for where we are in our development. I did laugh at the local paper guy's tweet earlier though
"@c_kirwan: Ulster win and Leinster sure to bag at least four points. Turning into a bad night for the playoff-chasing Dragons..."
I don't particularly care for Scrum V live tbh. I actually watched Wigan v Leeds in the League.
Anyway, bed time. Up at 2 to drive to Brizzle to fly to a villa in Malaga for the outlaws 40th wedding celebration.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Trebanog
This is actually a match report from the Scarlets website:
British & Irish Lion Jonathan Davies led the Scarlets at Murrayfield with fellow Scarlets captain Rob McCusker playing his 100th appearance for the region. The last two games between the two sides saw the Scarlets take victory by just a point on both occasions; 14-13 in March 2013 at Parc y Scarlets and 28-29 in what was a historical victory at Murrayfield in October 2012. This evening however the Scarlets put on a strong defensive display but also crossed the whitewash with some excellent work on and off the ball. The opening encunters was a kicking affair with both teams looking for territory. Edinburgh run the ball at the Scarlets but the visitor's defend well early on. Scarlets make their way into Edinburgh territory and it's a scrum on tthe 22. McCuusker gets the ball out to Priestland, who passes to Scott Williams and we win another scrum on the 10m line. A little toing and froing and we're back in Edinburgh territory. With it still scoreless at Murrayfield after 25 minuts, second row Jake Ball is sin binned as the visitor's are penalised once again. We run an attacking line at the homeside however and hold on topossession. With nearly half an hour played and plenty of possession won and lost by both sides Edinburgh take the first points of the game with a penalty for outside half Harry Leonard. Edinburgh 3 Scarlets 0. Scarlets waste no time in getting back in the game with a penalty coming from the rerstartplay. Priestland is true with his first attempt an it's 3-3 after half an hour. Moments later Scarlets are back in Edinburgh terrritory and are pushing the defensive line. Withh a strong forwards platform thhe bal gets out to Nic Reynolds on the right wing and he wastes no time in crossing in the corner. Priestland adds the conversion and it's 3-10 to the visitors. Edinburgh with the restart and they work the ball well in Scarlets territory winning penalty fro the scrum. After the second penalty given, and with the last play of the half, the homeside opt for the posts. Leonard adds the penalty an takes his side to 6 points at half time. Half time: Edinburgh 6 Scarlets 10. Having gone in at half time with a four point lead the Scarlets couldn't have had a worse staert to the second half with Edinburgh running a strong attacking line deep in the visitors territory, John Barclay sin binned after 2 minutes of play and the home side taking a three point penalty. The Scarlets show that they have worked on the positives from last weekend's game however and hitt back quickly. Priestland fields an Edinburgh kick and winger Jordan Williams is there to pick up the spoils. His quick feet gets him over the whitewash to take the Scarlets 9-15 ahead with only 14 men on the field. Scarlets' scrum continues to dominate with Edinburgh repeatedly penalised. Priestland goes forgoal but its just short. Scarlets continue to push deep in Edinburgh territory but fail to turn possession into points. That soon changes as centre Scott Williams sees an opening to kick the ball through before captain Jonathan Davies touches down for the visitor's third try. Priestland converts to take the score to 9-22 with only minutes left to play. Edinburgh come back fighting in the final minutes but once again Davies puts in a big tackle before fullback Liam Williams bounds his man into touch and secures a massive try saving tackle. The Scarlets secure an all important 9-22 victory at Murrayfield ahead before they welcome Glasgow to Parc y Scarlets next Saturday, 5th October KO 6.30pm. Rhys Priestland was named RaboDirect PRO12 Man of the Match.

Best of luck, Hound. We'll be up against it in Cork tonight, but I think we've got a better chance that Robert Jones seemed to think on Scrum V last night. He dismissed the possibility of us winning - and it wouldn't surprise me if Lyn Jones lets the players know.

Sure, Cork will be deserted as most of the population will be in Dublin for the hurling final replay.

I'm going to watch the hurling final later. Maybe catch the O's game online radio from Galway if I can, although I'm not sure if I can do the two at the same time. The O's have said that whatever Dan Biggar scores today against Connacht, that'll be the shop discount % for the fans. Well, I don't suppose he'll get 100 points, so it won't be 100% off!

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Trebanog
It was a lot better from Ulster, yes- there were still a few tries left out there but we took five of our chances so can't complain. It was a big improvement in terms of execution and error count, we look more confident now. We have a tough run with Ospreys (A), Leicester (H) and Montpellier (A) and we will need to improve to get the three wins we want from those games... I think that might be a step too far but two from three is a must.Luckless Pedestrian wrote:Decent performance from Ulster yesterday then, Notch? It was a decent scoreline, at least.
Very much a dominant performance against a misfiring Treviso side but next week we need to improve as much again so that'll be tough.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Trebanog
That sounds overly critical.
The smile was back on the faces of the fans at Ravenhill, but I'm conscious we have three games now against really top sides and two of them are away. We need to be playing at a really high level which isn't easy this early in the season... still, enjoyable to see some tries being scored.

Not great. We won their last year but both teams will be considerably better. We know we can go there and win, but it will be very tough. Ospreys three tries up over Connacht right now and it's not even HT.

Dan's scored 18 points in all. He's become the second player to pass 1000 points in the league so well done Biggar.
I've been rather distracted by the hurling final. What a game. What a great advert for the sport too. Commiserations to Hound. Cork lost to Clare 5-16 to 3-16. Most of Clare's scores were made by a 19 year old wizz.

Poor game, Hound - from both sides really. Munster had the upper hand throughout but couldn't really drive home the advantage. Dare I say it, but the Munster of old would have been more ruthless. Then again, the Dragons of old would have rolled over, so maybe 23 - 9 is about right for where the two sides are at the moment.

In the 2nd half, yes. After we stopped giving away daft penalties. Andy Goode missed every conversion and a pen. It could have been a right hammering.
I hope we can take that 2nd half performance to Sarries next week.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Trebanog
Any thinkers out there?
What went wrong?
Is this really it ?80 or so years then bam! your little indentation on the entire fabric of time is over?
Trees live longer than us and we are supposed to be the smart ones.
In our life do we really live? no man ever dies safe in the knowledge that regret isn't foremost in his mind, we exist, we function between the contense of our wallet and the urge in our pants!
while year on year we have people whom don't even know us at the top who tell us what to do!
Life planned out for you before your born, moments of pre selected history to be drip fed through your education,
moments that make Britain great not our dirty laundry!
Churchills speeches which inspired a Nation but did they? many of them where never heard until after the war by average joe.
Career, God i hate that word! lets call it a path i have chosen to suppress my urge to face whom iam and what i have become.
We have our elites royals sitting above us put to rule by God over all of us, wait did you say God?................
Believer or not the Bible in no way promotes a royal ruler over any man! kingship was wiped out well before Jesus day.
But we sit like fools moaning "like I" on the internet whilst just doing nothing about the Mafia family which LIVES!
Why do we do nothing? are we to scared? or just so beat down by life we can't muster up the strength to act?
But does the world need class division? would the idea of every mans house facing the Sun mean the inevitability that someones will eventually end up in the shade?
Im not dying of cancer ,im also not a conspiracy theorist, i actually can't stand them,
im just a family man who just wonders what the F is it all about.
Golf! words can not describe how much i hate GOLF! If there ever was such an activity that is more self gratifying it would only possibly rival wine tasting or modern art for levels of self importance.
The club house where you can all talk about how amazing you are at everything, the car park where you can pull your over priced Chinese made clubs from the boot of you Winkle extension car!
then you can strut around in clothes that make you look a complete T!t but the masses will be tripping over themselves to hear how much you paid for your pink t shirt.
So then the week starts only to be made better by having one day off at the weekend and enjoy it because you should you have earned it!
have i? have i really? or we just being told that?
How is this LIVING?
When do i get to do what i want to do? i didn't sign up for this.

Morning all...
Quite warm here. There's been a whopping 32mm of rain this month. The place is a tinder box. Great for watching footy but must be tough playing it!
Great game last Friday night... going again on Sunday for the 3 Grand Finals.
NSW Cup - Windsor Wolves v Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks
Holden Cup - Penrith Panthers v NZ Warriors
NRL - 'Bondi Junction' Chooks v Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles
