The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Trebanog
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The pub has made its way to Trebanog, the home village of Cliff Morgan.
So grab a beer, cider, whiskey or wine.... or a warm beverage and sit back and enjoy the 2013-14 rugby season.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of the legendary
Cliff Morgan, Dorothy Squires & Esme Coles, Jason Tovey, Aaron Smith and Monterey Jack.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Trebanog
I'm due to be coming over to Swansea on Saturday, but I don't think I'll be able to go now. The trips to Portugal and the Dam (plus the new car before that) have left me a bit shorter on money than I'd thought.

What is Martin Johnston doing with his time nowadays?
(Cue jokes about being in a hurry to get there!)
Is he coaching somewhere?

I'm not sure what he's doing now. Didn't he do a bit of punditry, or am I imagining things?

Not sure.
Can't really imagine him as a pundit.

Ditto for Swansea. I actually had tickets too, but I've given them away now. I think I want to play rugby myself anyway.Luckless Pedestrian wrote:I'm due to be coming over to Swansea on Saturday, but I don't think I'll be able to go now. Did you see the deal for the Mogliano game (BOGOF) and did you use it for Gibbo and Penfro? They're loaded anyway, so they won't notice whatever money they paid.

I saw the deal a few days after I'd bought the tickets. Lousy Dragons ripping me off.

Afternoon all. Men of Gwent - Ealing will be playing Cross Keys in the B&I Cup the weekend after next. Depending on when Wasps are playing Bayonne, I might be on for the return in Jan.
Dragons will be at home to Bath that weekend I think.

Tidy Hound. Steff Jones should be playing for the Keys along with a few fringe Dragons and academy lads.
Lucky, its happened to me before too.

I called it. Pienaar to stay for another 3 years. Boom. Absolutely nailed it. I told you all didn't I? Well if I didn't I meant to. Crucially as well this means more time for more baby Pienaar to get Irish qualified.

Ah hoi hoi.
First game back tonight after the six weeks off for my ribs. Bit nervous. Not the best of games to come back in really. We have 14 and are playing a decent side. Still, it will boost my fitness.

We managed a squad of 18 somehow. Won 34-10. Lasted 80 mins. Gave a lovely pass for an assist off my left. No big deal. Hold your applause

Should be a good mini-meet, Prop! I don't know what the plan is yet for where to meet - the Dodger might be the best bet, although I need to go to the ticket office to swap my season ticket for a ticket for the Hazell.

See what Gibbo and Penfro want, I guess. The club may be rammed on Friday though if the BOGOF deal has attracted new people and they won't necessarily know about the Dodger, so may all head to the clubhouse?

Dodger before the game and clubhouse after might be an idea.

It's been parky here since yesterday, Breaker - the north wind doth blow! But it's also been sunny and dry, which makes for beautiful weather.

Evening All.
I'm not watching Tommy at the moment. Hope he's doing well though. Gibbo et al are at the Dragons match. I haven't seen Gibbo yet. I took the bus to the airport after work in the hope of suprising him....only to find that all flights to Cardiff were diverted to Bristol due to an accident on the runway. Oh well...I got to go on the bus home again. Hopefully Gibbo will remember where he's supposed to staying tonight...

Morning all from a sunny Viadana.
Cracking night last night with some long standing Wasps buddies. Not too many Waspies here by the looks, mainly because this is a tricky place to get to.
Expected result from the Dragons, and despite Anscombe's post match comments, Ulster will be disappointed that Tigers sneaked a bonus point. Some tricky games for everyone in that pool though.

Jeez, that was a hike to get to the ground (about 4km), most of it along roads with no pavements. Plus being wary of Italian driving skills!!

Quite a lot of heavy industry and agriculture around the town. The centre is very traditional Italian architecture and no high rise stuff.

Hmm....this is embarrassingly easy. 10-56 at h/t. Hat trick for Helleur on his debut.
A nicely worked try by Viadana on the stroke of h/t - a chip and catch and a grubber through.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Trebanog
Firstly, last night was great to see Penfro, Prop and Gibbo (who wore my Kinloss shirt, bless him). Wish I could've stayed longer, but just nice to be there.
Well done the Turks today. Gutted for the Ospreys to be honest though (from a Welsh point of view), as they're as good as out already. That's maybe a bit premature, but in my opinion, they had to win all their home games and do something away. The only thing that can help them now is if teams take points of other teams (which might happen).

Evening All.
Home safe and dry after an epic day out in Swansea. Gutted the O's Euro dream is more than likely over...possibly for good given the whole HC row thingy. The O's lost the match when they lost the first scrum. They should've got a try from it but Leinster were just stronger. Ho hum. I hope that one of the other Welsh regions can get a lot further. Congrats to Edinburgh as well. That was a good game by the looks (I watched it in two different pubs).
Anyway, despite the result it was brilliant to meet up with Penfro, Huggy, Jennifer Mcladyboy, Gibbo and some other Leinster folks. Don't think I've laughed so much in ages. And we all met Bill Nighy. Gibbo had his piccie taken with him, the tart. Can't wait for my next trip now.

Not that anyone will give a shoite but that player was Helu, not Helleur. There were no programmes and the announcer struggled with names all afternoon.Hound of Harrow wrote:Hmm....this is embarrassingly easy. 10-56 at h/t. Hat trick for Helleur on his debut.

Chiefs were awesome this afternoon, btw, until they took their foot of the gas/lost two guys to the bin. Recording of the Quins v Scarlets match failed completely so I'm hoping to catch the highlights. And oh how I wish Connacht could have pulled off a victory on Friday - heartbreakingly close!
