The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Trebanog
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The pub has made its way to Trebanog, the home village of Cliff Morgan.
So grab a beer, cider, whiskey or wine.... or a warm beverage and sit back and enjoy the 2013-14 rugby season.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of the legendary
Cliff Morgan, Dorothy Squires & Esme Coles, Jason Tovey, Aaron Smith and Monterey Jack.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Trebanog
Anyone willing to blow the cobwebs off in this Virtual Empty Pub? Bailiffs will be moving in if we're not careful. All primed for today; Italy vs Australia, Ireland vs Samoa, France vs New Zealand
Pretty torn between Italy vs Australia and England vs Argentina. The Italy game kicks off half an hour earlier so I'm gonna start on that and if the first half is poor...

G'day Notch,
Yes, it's damn quiet in here.
Just back from this interesting place near me... still buzzing.
It's been so hot here today (35 deg but a cool change has come through - 12:54am!)
Best of luck v Samoa. I didn't realise you had some key players missing. Composure needed. Same for us. They are just walking out now.
Get well Cari and good luck too.

We have a few guys out, but they are missing several as well- they're probably a wee bit worse off (three of ours are on the bench). Should be a very good game. Will you be watching yourself?

Not on live here - just the Oz-Italy match. No doubt it will be shown later this morning.
England-Argentina (delayed) then Wales-SA and France-NZ on afterwards.
Massive weekend with 10 international matches. FA Cup on other channel.
3-0 Italy.

Aussie Luke scores for Italy!
(what about the offside a few plays back?) Useless kick from Genia.

Genia just looks off doesn't he? Pointless box kick deep in italy territory, turnover and Italy with a brilliant counter attack!
That was entirely the fault of Will Genia. If you're gonna turn down the shot at goal, you don't do it to box kick in the opposition half a few phases later... terrible from the Aussies.

Good try, they needed that response! They always look like opening Italy up when they have the ball.

Ah that's better. Oz really need a few wins under the belt then build from there. Italy so much more of an attacking threat now. Great to see.

It's still beginning to look a wee bit ominous for Italy when Australia get into their rhythm. Australia are always only a phase or two away from a brainfart but they are also only a phase or two away from cutting Italy open again.
Italy are committing a lot of numbers to the breakdown and not slowing the ball down at all, so Australia really getting a lot of time and space to attack and it's not looking good...

I'm gonna turn over to the Argentina game at half-time... if Italy don't change what they are doing it could get ugly.

Unfortunately it looks like the two opening tests are gonna be pretty one-sided in favour of the, er, favourites. England looking good and Australia have scored five tries- was delighted to see Italy get their second there but they've got it wrong today.

I'm flicking between the two games but England were mightily impressive in the first half.
Well, thats a pretty disastrous try to concede off the restart! Aussies break 40 points.

Tommy 'Tommaso' Allan scores on his debut. His name actually is Tommaso.
Scotland were quite annoyed to lose him to Italy after he played for Scotland at U17s, U18s and U20s. But it's fair enough, his family all played rugby in Italy and he was born there.

I'm sure they wouldn't grumble too much after their attempt to cap Taff McShingler

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Trebanog
Tbh I think Italy are well within their rights to cap Allan and Scotland were well within their rights to call-up Shingler. U20 caps binding you to a nation are a bit of a farce when its only certain nations. Should be the same for everyone.

Evening All
The Irish game is on the red button, so if this game gets too much, I may switch to get some Tommy. I hope he has a good game. Well done England. Been a good autumn for them so far.
Brian Moore on about the scrum laws...I do like him actually.

well that first half performance was fantastic earlier, but if we repeat 2nd half performance, against all blacks next week, then we will get crushed!

All the talk about Samoa being above us in the world rankings and being a banana skin really makes a 40-9 win feel good. I felt sorry for Samoa though, they already had a lot of injuries going into the game and then to lose their tighthead in the first few minutes (Mulipola, they already were without Census) and their 10... really bad luck with injuries.
I think Samoa went to pieces a little bit in the last twenty but we took pretty much every chance we created and Paddy Jackson kicked very well. Schmidt will be looking for more from us.

That was a few days ago now, Lucky. It's worn off.
It was this bizarre bar near my new place. Sort of like those American ones you see in the movies in the 'Deep South'. Quite surreal inside. Screens every 5 paces, a maze-like situation with rooms off rooms... so easy to get disoriented. A mixture of all sorts of people - as per the demographic in western Sydney. A bit scary at first glance but surprisingly a good vibe in the place. Very friendly bar staff. Although I had the feeling that the joint had some 'history' to it... I wasn't game enough to ask anyone "what's happened here recently?"

Evening
Thanks Cold is subsiding now. I should be back in the gym tomorrow evening. Hope you enjoyed your epic weekend Mine was epic...not. Spent most of it sleeping!
Terrible news about the Philippines. Some very sad stories coming out from over there. I hope they can recover and rebuild their communities soon but it'll be a long process. It said on the news earlier that this was the 25th typhoon in this region this year! And we moan about our weather...?

Me too.
It's hitting Vietnam and China now. I was glad to hear that the Vietnamese Gvt now issues proper warnings and initiates evacuations - 600,000 people for this one - something that didn't occur less than 10 years ago when I was living there. Whole towns were washed out to sea and the loss of life was severely understated.

That's a real positive on Vietnam, Breaker. At least now they get earlier warnings. Saves 1000's. We can't stop it, but with fair warning, we can move away from it en-masse now.
But the Lady is getting angrier by the year. Glad I live in Nederland. Won't even feel it. We'll be gone in seconds.

Gibbo, Notch, Cari
Life is often cruel for sure, and it's usually the poor sods who can't afford decent housing who suffer - the vast majority where tropical storms make landfall.
Anyhows - I'm going to get the head down.

Evening puma. Decent enough wins for Scotland and Ireland at the weekend.
The Pumas didn't have enough in the backs to really trouble England, even though England looked to rein it in during the 2nd half before the NZ game.
This weekend's games should be good. Lots of teams with points to prove.

Oh my! What a morning.
MrP took P5 to school today. Just discovered that she insisted on riding her Hobby Horse the whole way and then was very reluctant to part with it at the classroom door. After a bit of a stand off, MrP won the day but, on his way back out with the toy, the school secretary, who witnessed the whole debacle, quipped,
"Is that your transport home?"
