The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Trebanog
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The pub has made its way to Trebanog, the home village of Cliff Morgan.
So grab a beer, cider, whiskey or wine.... or a warm beverage and sit back and enjoy the 2013-14 rugby season.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of the legendary
Cliff Morgan, Dorothy Squires & Esme Coles, Jason Tovey, Aaron Smith and Monterey Jack.

Well it's no different to the booing of David Warner in the summer. I was at Old Trafford and the crowd were chanting 'Warner Warner give us a wave' and when he did, they booed him!
It's just pantomime really.

Yeah. Did you see that guy tease KP with an autograph today?
Half the crowd is shocked; the other half in hysterics.
Then the commentators say "...what a fine sportsman KP is... loves to be centre stage, etc"
(the thing is he had a little go at 'Brisbane being inferior to other places in Oz' and there was obviously some banter being carried out back and forth - about this statement made by KP a couple of days ago.)
It's true though - the crowd deep down really respect his talent... you can see it in their faces. More love than hate.

Some wag offered his mini bat... but then withdrew it as KP approached the guy from about 10-15m away, near the boundary rope. It was a pretty rude I know but it was also kind of funny the way it was all done. KP then sauntered back to his fielding position as if it was no big deal.

All because he said "Brisbane is far behind the rest of Australia in terms of culture" or something along those lines.
Big match in Glasgow for the Dragons. Do you think they can spring an upset?

We haven't won away yet this season, and Scotstoun's a tough place to go. But you never know!

Evening All
Just settling in for the Wales v Tonga game on the telly. Hope there's no injuries and the youngsters have good games - especially Amos on his debut.

Really hoping Argentina can pull out a big win today. 10 straight defeats, pretty ugly.
Dragons have done us a massive favour- they are quite the dark horse of the Pro12. Already beaten 3 of the 4 teams that made the playoffs last season. Good to see.

That was William Helu. He scored a quick fire hat trick on debut for us against Viadana in the Amlin.Cari wrote:All right CF, what's occurrin'?

Afternoon All
I'm watching the rugby league semi final England v Kiwis. How odd it is listening to Jiffy get so exicted over England... They're winning at the moment.
What you been up to ?

Zebre are beating the Ospreys in Swansea, but they do this a lot; give complacent sides a shock, get ahead and agonisingly lose in the final minutes. So I'm not getting too excited just yet...

I've not been up to much Cari, other than giving the house a bit of a going over. Oh, and meeting up with some of the London crew on Wednesday night.
Off to watch Wasps v Bath tomorrow. I'm peed off that it's been switched to Sunday as I was intending to watch Ealing v L. Scottish tomorrow.
Then we're off to the Dubai 7s on Tuesday.

You were right Notch - O's won it 30-20. We need the Blues to do us a favour and beat Munster now so we can stay top.
Tsk! I turn over to BBC 2 to watch the Scotland game and what's on? Fecking F1. It's only the qualifier and you can't see much due to the poor weather conditions anyway. I thought F1 had its own channel these days? Every blydi year some other sport interrupts the autumn internationals. Thank gawd for the internet is all I can say.

All is still far from right with the world but somehow it feels more bearable now, you just can't beat your bezzies . Actually, I hate that word, but it'll do for now.

Hell of a place to break our away-win duck! I'm looking forward to watching the (brief) highlights on Scrum V later - the BBC match report says it was a 'scrappy' win, and we picked up three yellow cards, but who gives a chuff?Linebreaker wrote:Anyone seen Lucky? There's highlights on the Rabo YouTube site Lucky. Great win. Tovey's boot was decent. Couple of great kicks for such a shortened run up (one touch line on his wrong side and one pretty long range). Will's try nice too. Reminiscent of the old Tovey Brew combo.

Here. It did say Ulster v Embra, but it ain't.

Camera makes Leach's hit look bad, but it might not be that clear cut as you can't really see how he lifted him etc (or I couldn't on my phone).

As in it's possible one hit low, one hit high and it was a little bit momentum. I don't know. Like I said, it was Pat's first game back and he probably wanted to make a statement, what with being our defensive leader and that. I doubt he had malicious intentions.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Trebanog
You're right, Rev, there were two men in the tackle. Could have been a yellow for each of them, so I won't complain.
I keep forgetting about the Pro12 channel on YouTube. I don't want to split hairs, but would it have killed the voiceover man to use the definite article? And who's Matt Harries? But it was a beauty of a conversion from the left touchline.

Nothing wrong with a scrappy win. Take them when you can. It's funny how we were talking about a possible upset though.Luckless Pedestrian wrote:Hell of a place to break our away-win duck! Great win for the Dragons!
The Wallabies are on a mini-run at the moment... but I thought the back-ups for the 'banned' players did a good job against Scotland.
It was a slightly risky thing to do from Ewen McKenzie but I'm just relieved that we got through that match in decent shape.
Hopefully, we'll field a stronger, more experienced team against Wales with some of those youngsters getting rewarded with a bench spot.
Nice wins in the cricket and RLWC.
So good things do come in 3s sometimes!

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Trebanog
Well. That was a roller-coaster of an afternoon. The disappointing end was delayed somewhat for us as we had unexpected visitors so the telly went off till they left. We had an extra houror so of believing we had eventually done it!
What a performance from the lads. What a turn around from last week.
The looks on the faces of the Irish players during the anthems was enough of an indication for me that we would not be having a repeat of last week's abject display.
So disappointed for them.
