The toilet paper's run out!
It's very evident the NZ fans are nervous about the match on Saturday. To me that's great. It means our rival is a big threat and the result is in doubt. We only get nervous about the things that matter to us.
The game in Soweto, Twickenham and Ireland under a Kiwi coach loomed as big threats looking ahead at the NZ schedule. Add in the difficult motivational game of Australia in Dunedin later this year. France's 6n performance and their club commitments took the gloss off the June series. England next June is challenge. Yet for NZ to be worried at home in their Fortress of Eden is a sign of how SA has come on with their blend of new and experienced players.
What looms as your biggest challenges and, therefore, fears this rugby season? This home game has sneaked up on us in the change of underwear stakes. What matches could surprise you potentially? SA was always going to be a tough game but it's fair to say I didn't anticipate this level of excitement. Who do you envision will have you clog up the toilet leading up to the match?

Are we overbeating the batter a bit?
I'm nervous like before most big games but I still think we will win. It'll be a big challenge without doubt but I am not panicking or running out of toilet paper.

Had to look that up Kia, boy, bet it tastes better than it looks, phoaw. Well, reading 606 the last week I was talking myself into expecting an inevitable loss. But I've come to my senses, we are the ABs, and we should always be quietly confident. Even when we're in a lull in form, which we most certainly 'are not' at the moment.

I think it's great. Against South Africa, Australia, the Lions and sometimes France or England there's a bit of uncertainty. This Bok team is shaping up well and, like many AB's fans, I'm worried what they might do, especially that they are capable of playing a style of game we may not be able to live with. There's an edge not just about a possible one off loss, but potential that this side might actually be better than us. We've had it good for a while now. It feels good to have that edge.

I still expect a NZ victory ebop. As bc says it's not so much doubt in NZ but respect for certain sides that face us. I agree that SA is not the finished article as neither is NZ but like NZ what has caught the eye is that they're very much heading in the right direction.

SA have had the flu virus actually this week. Think they're more worried about the toilet seat than toilet paper.

SA are playing better than I have seen them play in a long time including during the '07 RWC IMO particularly in the backs.
However, I reckon both Argentina and Australia have gone backwards since last year so NZ will really will tell us a lot about how good this SA team really is.

Re: The toilet paper's run out!
Well, I have been looking for toilet paper all day.
And tissues.
If we win on Saturday I am going to $h1t myself, and if we lose I will be needing the tissues.
Guess of which I collected the most?

Biltong, you were recently lambasting SA, especially after the second game against Argentina. Can so much change after one performance, albeit an impressive one against Australia? This underestimation of your own team, and fear of the opposition on behalf of the Kiwis, seems a much more NH trait, not that of countries' used to winning most of the time?

Re: The toilet paper's run out!
Miaow.
The biggest problem the Springboks have is the manner in which they handle the breakdowns.
So the problem is in a few games this past 18 months we struggled big time against Scotland, Argentina (2012,2013) and if you go back to 2011 RWC the same happened against Australia.
When these teams go beyond the laws of the game and the referees don't pinge them, we don't know how to counter it.
That leaves us under pressure and we perform poorly. In all the games where we had parity at the breakdown we have been performing better and better.
So it is all down to the breakdown, whether we can adapt or not.

Hopefully you'll need tissues for all the sexy tries both teams score.Biltong wrote:Well, I have been looking for toilet paper all day.
