You couldn't make this stuff up: Freeman apparerently picked up a concussion on Monday, Christian Ponder is back under center for the Vikings.

In other injury news, Cincy loses Leon Hall for the year, big blow that.
NYG loses it's centre Baas to IR.
Doug Martin might not be done for the season

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread IV
From what I've read I'd be surprised if he's back this season unless it's a very minor tear with low risk of re-injury and responds well to rehab. In any case it's a multiple week thing (supposedly it could be up to 6).Olly wrote:In other injury news, Cincy loses Leon Hall for the year, big blow that.

No doubt Finley is done for the season (at least).
Seems like a high number of injuries this week.

St. Louis called Brett Favre, asking if the 44-year-old QB if he would be willing to play. Favre declined. More to story on ESPN all day.

Atlanta vs Detroit
Miami vs Oakland
Dallas vs Jacksonville
are your Wembley games next year. They are some pretty decent games there, some real stars coming over. Megatron vs Julio potentially

Might get a season ticket to all three of those if it's possible. A least Oakland and Atlanta's games anyway.

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread IV
The Lions vs Falcons should be a competitive game and the Dolphins and Cowboys are likely to have big support.
Interesting to see that have gone for two conference games next year which hasn't been the case previously.
I was half expecting the Oakland and Jacksonville games. Didn't think the Raiders would want to lose home games vs the Cardinals and particularly the 49ers (even if the NFL and police may have want to shift the later).
I will probably look at going to the Dolphins vs Raiders game.
I'm going this Sunday to see the 49ers.

It will be my fourth NFL game (third international series game). I saw the 49ers vs the Dolphins when I was 8 at the old Wembley. Went to the 49ers game vs the Cowboys a few years back and got free corporate seats last year.
Does anyone know if any events are on because I'm travelling down Saturday and stopping in London for the weekend.

Just doing some research into the NFL and have a quiz question:-
Can you name the six expansion teams since the NFL-AFL merger in 1970? (Without looking it up).
I thought I had five of them but when I looked it up I only had four.

And on the day there will be a tailgate from 11am. It's essentially food, merchandise and various appearances by people until before the game!

Were the Browns not technically an expansion team after they came back in 1999?

Pretty easy.
Without looking it up can anyone name the original name and current name of the 12 NFL teams that started life in a different city and/or different name?
Not counting the Ravens.
EDITED
it's actually 12 not 10

No NFL team has currently gone longer without being over .500 than the Panthers -- 70 straight games. That can end tonight.
Sheesh that's brutal

Cam was throwing some lasers in that 1st half I saw, really seems to be hitting some form.
I still don't understand how a defence with that amount of ability on it, can be that bad. The use of zone coverage is bemusing, Carolina just shredded it all night long

Outside of McCoy and David it's a pretty ordinary group up front. Letting Bennett walk looks worse by the week.
If its a choice between a great front and a great secondary, it's the front everytime

That was the first game I didn't bother watching in four years. We suck and the coaches are just awful.
On the bright side, Glennon looked pretty good but he has nobody other than Jackson to throw to.

Their defensive line is one of the best in football, I know that much.
I'm not sure who I'd want, really. Zimmer would be good I think, Lovie Smith maybe?

Giants front office is one of the best in the NFL and I'm sure they will have no hesitation in punting Coughlin because it's patently clear he is no longer the right man for the job.

The Giants demise is more to do with lack of ability than coaching. Though Gilbride has needed punting for a while
Reese should be ahead in biting the bullet before Coughlin, he really hasn't provided Coughlin with a great deal. Still, 2 rings gives both the chance to prove they can reverse the rut
