Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread IV
In fairness, those quotes from Merriweather are tongue in cheek. He's frustrated and he's got a point. The worst hit in last week's game was the one on Reed Doughty on the onside kick and yet there was no flag and no retrospective punishment. Doughty was every bit as defenceless as either Marshall and Jeffrey were on Merriweather's hits and yet the NFL reckons the headshot he took, the one that kept him out of this week's game, was OK. The rules suck. Either let 'em play or make all headshots illegal.

Merriweather is a moron and deserves whatever suspension he gets. Plenty of players have learned a method of tackling that doesnt involve launching headfirst every single time.

The loss of Mayo is killing us in the run game, we could sort of get by without Wilfork reasonably well, but coupled with Mayo going we just get gashed down the middle.twelve283 wrote:Lost our best DL in Wilfork, now our best OL in Vollmer.Olly wrote:Vollmer is having surgery on his broken right leg today, and is gonna be out for the season.

Still hopefully Talib comes back this week, although there's no need to rush him

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread IV
And so the bandwagon continues roll. He's not as bad as is being made out. He does need to learn to tackle differently given the NFL today but he's not the only guy to get pulled up for hitting players in the head so people really need to stop acting like he is. I probably have more sympathy for him then others because when I first started watching football, guys like Steve Atwater and Ronnie Lott were my heroes. Neither of those guys were strangers to a helmet to helmet hit.GSC wrote:Merriweather is a moron and deserves whatever suspension he gets. Scrappy scrappy win for Seattle last night, that O-line must do better, Wilson sacked 7 times last night

Rams do have a very good pass rush, it's probably the best part of their team, but doesn't make sense for Seattle to struggle that badly up front, especially when you consider how good Wilson is at evading defenders

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread IV
Both starting tackles are out. They've been struggling all year but Wilson has been escaping the pocket and avoiding sacks. The Rams did a great job of containing Wilson in the pocket.BamBam wrote:Rams do have a very good pass rush, it's probably the best part of their team, but doesn't make sense for Seattle to struggle that badly up front, especially when you consider how good Wilson is at evading defenders

Rams exposed a few of Seattle's flaws last night. But they have a pretty easy schedule this year so don't see more than one or two losses

Pretty much everyone has a pretty easy schedule though. There just aren't enough good teams to go around this year. The 4-4 Cowboys are the best win on both the Broncos and Chiefs records so far.Colan (niner) wrote:Rams exposed a few of Seattle's flaws last night. The Seahawks don't look as strong away from home. Had the Rams had Bradford at QB they may have won last night.Olly wrote:Scrappy scrappy win for Seattle last night, that O-line must do better, Wilson sacked 7 times last night

Do the Seahawks have a deal in place where they get first shot at Vikings players or something?

Seattle have a Super Bowl window and they are doing everything possible to strengthen their team and make the final push. I respect the hell out of that front office.

Soapoaga did nothing here. Surprised they got anything tbh. Thornton and geathers both outplayed him

Eh it's a low risk move, veteran guy will help us against the run. Another body on a depleted line can't hurt

What was Lamar Miller doing there? He just went on a 40 yard run, had the endzone clear on his left but turned back in to the two Bengals defenders and Dunlap forced a fumble.

Ouch, that's huge for the Bengals.
Didn't see the game, but what a run by Bernard, that was like Barry Sanders back in the day!
