I watched The Wee Man today
A Scottish gangster film based on the life of Paul Ferris , i actually enjoyed the low budget style of the film it hasn't had to many good reviews but it was better then a lot of the British style gangster films

Iron Man 3:
Better than the previous two, enjoyed it although the twist was clever, I was not a fan of it.

The Prestige:

Incredible movie, I'm actually completely blown away by this. Fantastic Cast and such an awesome story.
Never knew you could make "Magic" this interesting!

What do you mean I just stated that The Prestige is incredible and have many other films I enjoy. Although TDK is my all time favourite.

Rush. I don't like Formula One at all, and went with some friends not expecting much but it was utterly brilliant. Really recommend it. Also a surprising amount of nudity including from Natalie Dormer

The Wee Man
A story about a man who goes around peeing on.............not really. A film based on the story of Paul Ferris, a Glaswegian gangster, who was a tad short, hence the title.
A good film with some believable characters

SHE!
Samuel L Jackson was very funny in the film.
Stand out for me was the dentist. He played his part exceptionally well.
I'm not sure how close to reality the film was on the racism front?
One line at the end did make me chuckle, the 'person of African descent cage'.

Went to watch Escape Plan last night
My God where do I start. Aside from the end when it went mental there wasn't half as many action scenes as I thought there would be. A lot of it is Stallone discussing the break out, without subtitles I couldn't understand a word he was saying.
The film tries to be clever, but I really couldn't care less, I just wanted to see Sly and Arnie blowing sh!t up. The last 10-15 minutes were kinda satisfying but it was a bit of a ballache to get there

I watched Warm Bodies last night. I didn't really know what to expect from this as it's about a zombie whose brain starts working again and saves the life of a girl in danger then continues to protect her. When it was a bit slow to start (because of the zombies?) I expected it to be a bit rubbish.
It isn't. It was a great little feel good film. I was very impressed with the acting from Nicholas Hoult and the girl he protects played by the underrated Teresa Palmer. It's a fairly cerebral film with not too much zombie style horror (this was good as Mrs Bounce could cope with it!), and a well-performed voiceover in places.
It surprised me, and in a good way. 9/10

It might seem generous but the reason I gave it a 4 was due to the acting from Fassbender and Elba. Though other then that it was dreadful.John wrote:4/10 is very generous. Shocking film from start to finish. Dreadful.Bull wrote:Prometheus.

Couldn't see the point of Prometheus. The ending seemed as if it was edited by some kids off their nut on undiluted Ki-ora and how the hell did Rapace end up with an "baby" inside her then end up running around like a loon thirty seconds after performing her own abortion? (I'm willing to accept I may have fallen asleep prior to this point).

I thought it was more to do with plot development. Maybe you're much more cynical than me!seanmichaels wrote:Watched World War Z last night. Alright but you can tell they ran out of budget after the plane crash.
Anyway, they stabbed Brad Pitt in the side with a bit of metal. I bet they had to pay him a few extra quid for that so maybe they DID run out of money.

Re: The Last Film Watched Thread .................continued again
Well the story is that it was supposed to be a trilogy then the financial backers pulled out. Film was condensed and I think that shows. It was basically a film of 2 halves. Hollywood blockbuster first half. low budget BBC3 drama second.DAVE667 wrote:I thought it was more to do with plot development. Like I said, you're clearly more cynical. I read something about a 2nd installment but didn't pay much attention. I tend to watch stuff about 6 months after everyone else is sick to the back teeth of them so I'm hardly at the forefront of what's hip, happening, phat, stupid 'n' poppin' fresh.seanmichaels wrote:Well the story is that it was supposed to be a trilogy then the financial backers pulled out. Have you not seen it then? Don't get me wrong I thought the first hour or so was quality. The ending was just sheeeet. Googled it a bit and it appears they re-hashed the ending mid filming for some reason. What was supposed to be a full on Zombie / Human battle in Moscow ended up being 7 Zombies and 5 healthcare workers in a BUPA hospital in Newport.DAVE667 wrote:Like I said, you're clearly more cynical. No, I've watched it and really enjoyed it. I like the bit when they're running though the back streets of Jerusalem being chased by zombies. I thought the second half was good too and wouldn't have worked with hordes of zombies running amok constantly.
You may very well be right about a lack of cash but as I've not read the book I don't know how true the film is to it.

I read a certain review and it was clearly written by someone who hadn't actually seen it. At one point they talked about Peter Capaldi sat all alone in the research facility like Malcolm Tucker had just sworm all the zombies into submission and it's clear that Capaldi ISN'T ALONE.
I loved the sheer tenacity of the zombies though. When they're hurling themselves off that tower block trying o get at the helicopter and when they scale the wall in Jerusalem
As a point of interest (I use that term loosley) I downloaded the 3D version and there and certain cuts made from the regular version. In the beginning when Pitt sees a guy bitten and he undergoes the transformation, you see him/it slam his/it's head into a car window trying to get at the passengers and then violently beat his/it's arms against the windows several times. In the 3D version, you only see the headbutt
Dunno why they did that.

I really enjoyed World War Z, due to it being a 15 it was a film that couldn't just rely on gore to shock people. It had a decent story line, however as people have said you can tell the financial backers pulled out.
It'sa shame really as it could have made a really decent triology complared to a cut and paste job.

Its better than any of the other Jackass movies (not difficult I know), but I was genuinely struggling for breath through laughing on a fair few occasions

Watched Side effects last night, starring Rooney Mara as the depressed wife of Channing Tatum. Jude Law and Catherine Zeta Jones play her psychiatrists. It's a suspense which explores the effects anti-depressants can have on a person.
The first 40 minutes drag, but there's huge plot twist which changes the pace of the film and it becomes more enjoyable. Unfortunately with the relentless pace of the second half of the film, there are more plot holes, which somewhat spoil a decent film.
