Bearing in mind the above - what I'd like to know for each team is:
1. How is the season likely to go?
2. What are the teams' strengths?
3. What are the teams' weaknesses?
4. What can be done to improve matters for each team?
Any jingoism, sledging or graceless kicking of anyone whilst they are up or down will see posts deleted.
Be gracious and be constructive.

Back to rugby - Dave Denton has been fairly open and honest saying he had offers from other top AP and French clubs (leicester and Gloucester quoted) - much better money offers - but stayed with Edinburgh. Says it's the best place for him to be leading up to the world cup, as he's seen how knackered the players come in to Scotland training camps when they've been flogged for weeks a row by their English or French clubs.
Good lad.
Bet his agent doesn't agree though!

Sensible by Dents. Plus after the world cup he’ll only be 25/26 (I think) so he can then start thinking about a more lucrative move

What does the alarm sound like?
Is it a recorded message saying
"Warning, warning, the brand of rugby played in this stadium will be pish"

I tweeted the SRU and got one back saying it was a fire alarm. Not sure a fire alarm warrants the stadium PA blasting out a message but never mind!

Re: Glasgow and Edinburgh: Ongoing Banter Thread
Townsend upset the players could not put the game plan they worked on all week into place last night v Treviso. Would that be the same game plan we witnessed in both games v the same opposition (Kaahdiff) i.e. throw the ball around while going forward to meet the defensive line, then get the ball torn away/spill ball/ pass to opponent ? When that didn't work it was give ball to Mad Jack McMad Matawalu and see what happens OR give it to Bluto Strauss to smash up the middle and subsequently run out of support and lose possession. Errrr that's it !

Looking at the pro12 table, if and it's a big if, Edinburgh were to beat Glasgow home & away and deny them any losing bonus points theyd be level on points. Throw in a try bonus win at Murrayfield and they could overtake them!

Re: Glasgow and Edinburgh: Ongoing Banter Thread
Finn Russell signs a full 2 year professional contract with Glasgow. He sounded like he went very well over the summer in New Zealand, with several MOTM performances, which can't be easy out there, so probably well deserved.
How is this going to effect the stand off pecking order in wonder. I would say it is definitely going to be goodbye to Scott Wight, who despite only having limited chances, has never really grabbed them. Does he keep Jacko and Weir as well? There is never going to be enough game time for the three of them and particularly for young Russell who needs to develop.
Does Toonie have it in him to become the baby faced assassin and let one of them go. This is as much about his development as a coach as it is about the players, great coaches know when to let players go, sometimes it is the right thing for both parties.
I would personally say that Jackson may benefit from a move, having spent his whole career at Glasgow so far. He would not be allowed the luxury of his inconsistency elsewhere and a move may make or break him as a professional rugby player.
We need two good quality stand offs and an up and coming youngster to develop and probably one utility player who could step in for an emergency. Weir should probably be first choice with Russell as back up. Hoggy and Horne can both step in if required and there must be a youngster out there, maybe Peter Horne's younger brother George who has just moved up to the u20 squad.
We will begin to see next years squad taking shape over the next couple of months.

It's because I wasn't there Schiz, so you missed my hearty ''come on chaps'' from the East Stand.
It is true though, Glasgow fans are very good at shouting ''Glasgow Glasgow Glasgow'' over and over again, although I get the impression some of them do that anyway, regardless of whether they're at the rugby or not.

What ever happened to Henry Pygros? Always thought he could kick on and break onto the international scene. Seemed to have a real buzz about his pass from what i remember.
Is it a case of him being behind Captain Cus or has he dropped off the ball?

Re: Glasgow and Edinburgh: Ongoing Banter Thread
it's a fair question, Driver - unforunately to many fans, he will never be more than a reasonable and safe pair of hands. Difficult when you're stuck in the queue behind the club's most estsblished gamebreaker (Matawalu) and a Lion who has a Top 14 championship medal (Cusiter). Then in international terms he is stuck behing the first choice placekicker in Laidlaw to say nothing of high quality SQ youngfellers like Kennedy and Higalgo-Clyne. It is tough at the top and Scotland seems to be able to produce a constant supply of angry, yappy midgets.Driver wrote:What ever happened to Henry Pygros? Is Leck even still in the Embra squad? I'd be happy to see Hidalgo-Clyne and Kennedy stay as back up to oor wee General.
Also Mark Bennett should never have been sent to the sevens squad...he broke his toe and is out until the spring. That's his 6N hopes dashed.

Driver, Henry does have a super fast flat pass in his armoury, right next to his high loopy slow one that goes the wrong way - unfortunately he has a tendency to select the wrong one from time to time which often leads to his flyhalf requiring the services of a step-ladder. The same divisions apply to his tactical kicking and his running - sublime and ridiculous with nothing in between

There was more noise coming from the Edinburgh supporters. When Edinburgh were driving Glasgow back there was an almighty roar from the 10k crowd. Glasgow just make more frequent noise because there is always a couple of Buckie fuelled weegies doing the "Glasgow Glasgow" it's so repetitive even the Glasgow players hate hearing it.

I see Alex Dunbar has signed with the Great Unwashed for another 3 years, which is a very good piece of business from Bomrys.

Good piece of work securing Dunbar for 3 years. Useful having a centre who can play both 12 and 13 (better at 13 in my view), and given that Bennett seems a bit fragile (I've heard rumour that the toe injury had nothing to do with the 7s but rather he dropped a piece of lego on his foot whilst playing with his new toys at Christmas) I think Dunbar will be called upon a fair bit in the near future.
Horne and Dunbar for Glasgow (with Bennett covering), Scott and Fife for Edinburgh (with NDL covering) and Scott and Dunbar for Scotland (with Horne on the bench).
That's the future.
