The people that own Scotstoun - it is to ensure the athletics track doesn't get damaged, and might be for the residents as well.

Could be, I just know that they have limits on how often they can use the extra stands. They'll be screwed if the re-match falls outside that period!

Reschedule it for Murrayfield? But the pitch is still a mess, right?

Surely the arrangement is that it only counts as a 'use' of the temporary stands if the game for which they are erected actually occurs?RDW_Scotland wrote:AsLongAsBut100ofUs wrote:RDW_Scotland wrote:The people that own Scotstoun - it is to ensure the athletics track doesn't get damaged, and might be for the residents as well.

I have a recollection that the use is a number of times per year, and that it is no by number of games but by weeks. By no means certain though.

Demosthenes, that sounds right, and so there is some reliance on having a number of bigger games consecutively to maximise the use of the extra capacity?

Re: Glasgow and Edinburgh: Ongoing Banter Thread
Surely if there is a worry about the athletics track then we could offer the good people of Scotstoun the services of ASBO and his re-surfacing posse?
What would happen if the Weege ever got into the knock out stanges of the HC? No additional stand usage? Move the game to Murrayfield? The Murrayfield turf will be right as rain come the spring months.

I think that is the way they plan it. I assume that they expect the 1872 to be a sell-out, plus one of the last HC games. After that I don't know. Probably keep some weeks for towards the end of the season if things are going well and play-offs loom.
From recollection there will also be a cut-off date after which they cannot erect the temp stands, due to use of the running track, although the seasons may not overlap by much.

Just noticed that the Glasgow under-18's have trounced their MFL counterparts home and away. So the annual Slaughter of the Effeminates looks set to continue for some time to come.

I am qiute sure that the stands are there untill the end of the season.
"The stand, which is currently uncovered, has almost 800 seats and further increases the capacity of Scotstoun, with four stands now in place for the remainder of the season."

Peter Horne has been on the Tweety saying that he's back running on a rugby pitch for the first time in 6 months. Good man. Glasgow has missed him badly. So has my wife who has pronounced him the most handsome Glasgow player.

His looks having been faithfully preserved by staying out of rucks for the best part of a decade!!
I personally think Scottish rugby needs a "Chunk Award" for the professional player least likely to be seen in the gym after hours, and most likely to seek nutrition from Greggs. Step forward Dunky Weir and Ben Atiga as 2013 - 2014 nominees.

Re: Glasgow and Edinburgh: Ongoing Banter Thread
With regards to the number of South African singings, I’m still OK with it – we have 8 South Africans in a squad that has 16 Scottish internationals and 43 players that are eligible to play for Scotland. Plus when you look at the positions they’ve come in (prop, back row, stand off, centre) there really aren’t any Scottish players available just now.
Solomons has been open in saying that he needs to strengthen the squad, and he is going to choose the players he knows if there aren’t any Scottish players available! He’s said this is a short term fix – what would be concerning is if in 2 years time half the team is not Scottish.
And another thing – going through the likely team for the Perpignan game on Saturday there are 11 Scottish qualified players starting, and that’s bearing in mind that Matt Scott and Tim Visser are injured!

Because what happens in Scotland really makes a difference to you?
Living the high life in London and sunny/flooded Devon (depending on what season) I'm surprised you concern yourself so much with what happens to Scotland.

Silly me, forgot that not living in the country of my birth changes my nationality - slapped wrists

two points
1: Don't talk about the Indy Ref. RDW has even more power now and we know he doesn't like these shenannigans.
2: I find it amusing that for all of ASBO's huffing and puffing, he won't have a vote come the referendum lol

Well you know who to blame for that decision don't you! Apparently it was all too complicated and without international precedent. Nothing at all to do with suspicions that expats might tends towards to the "No" vote.
Now 16 year olds is different. That was visionary and demonstrated how much the SNP care about Scotland's future and young people. Nothing at all to do with the perception that they could be more easily swayed towards a "Yes" vote.
