Bearing in mind the above - what I'd like to know for each team is:
1. How is the season likely to go?
2. What are the teams' strengths?
3. What are the teams' weaknesses?
4. What can be done to improve matters for each team?
Any jingoism, sledging or graceless kicking of anyone whilst they are up or down will see posts deleted.

Anyone heard of how Vern Cotter wants to bring over Nathan Hines to either Edinburgh or Glasgow with a view to becoming forwards coach? It's featured here at tinyurl dot com / obmt4qx
Don't really know if this is good or not as it will hold back a SQ player like Swinson, J Gray, Ryder or Harley at 6 and at Edinburgh Gilchrist, Atkins etc from getting game time. But his experience could be useful.

Re: Glasgow and Edinburgh: Ongoing Banter Thread
I did read that as well. Likewise in two minds. There's the Simon Shaw/Brad Thorn model of elder statesmen coming back into the second row for an Indian summer, and Hines is still a very good player indeed, however I also feel that we're pretty well stocked in the second row at both Glasgow and Edinburgh, and certainly for Scotland.
Fine to have Wagga on board as a coach - I'd love to see him lead a rucking session with Al Kellock (so that's how it's done.....) - and in terms of fracturing the odd rule here and there to slow down opposition ball, there are few better in the business.

Given there is competition in the SR already, I don't know if bringing in effectively a non-sq SR (won't play for Scotland come the world cup) would be that great. Personally I think a player/coach role at Gala or Ayr or a similar team would be great.

Its all well and said that Cotter wants to bring Hines back to Scotland, but has big wagga actually said anything about it? He's featuring regularly for Clermont and hes got a young family that seem to be quite settled in France. As much as it would be great in my eyes, dont think its very likely to happen

His contract is up this year and is not going to be renewed apparently. At his age I guess he has got to make some decisions as to what he is going to be doing next. If he sees coaching as his future then a move back to Scotland with Cotter as a mentor may not be a bad move.

If you are not eligable to vote in scotland why should you get the chance in the referendum? want to vote - simply move back north. Its fairly simpleAsLongAsBut100ofUs wrote:tigertattie wrote:two points

I find it deeply depressing

TJ - Scots living in other parts of the UK should have the vote for the simple reason that the outcome of the referendum will affect their legal status, i.e. they would cease to be British citizens, but without having had a say in the matter.
I make a distinction between these Scots and those living outside the UK because the expats knew what they were losing, whereas those still in the UK were simply changing regions.
My parents moved to England for my dad's job - this was a purely economic reason, and they certainly didn't think they were 'leaving Scotland' in any dramatic sense, simply moving to another part of the Union. Now they have no say in the future of their country.

Hmm, last time I checked Scotland was a wee bit more than just a 'region' of Britain!!

Not so. They would be rUK citizens unless they wanted to become Scots citizens which they could apply to be and would be granted. simply wrong. You confuse "the scots people" ie the ethnic group with "the people of Scotland" -= the people who live here
Yup - quite right too as they are no longer living in the country and are no longer of the people of scotland.IanBru wrote:My parents moved to England for my dad's job - this was a purely economic reason, and they certainly didn't think they were 'leaving Scotland' in any dramatic sense, simply moving to another part of the Union. When you see the realpoverty in Scotland, children in houses full of damp, heating not working and barely getting enough food - let alone nutritious food - it does make me feel that being part of the UK isn't working. If the SNP came out and said we'd have a Norwegian Style Oil fund where interest paid would be used to improve these conditions, I'd fully back them. But they've not. All it is is EU, NATO, yes you'll still get the BBC...
Anyway I'll leave that for later

Mark BENNETT is playing for Ayr so must be back fully fit which is great news for Glasgow. Would say Scotland but SJ has no doubt found some 30yr old from Tazbekistan that can play centre so will want to "see what the kid can do"

Joking aside, I don't mind non-rugby chat (we probably have more of that than actual rugby chat!) but the independence debate just leads to people, that would usually get on, falling out and arguing and I don't want that clogging up this rugby thread.

Both are playing in the B&I cup, and have played in the recent B&I cup games.
Word on the street is that McInally's throwing is woeful, but having only just started that's not much of a surprise.
No idea how Vernon is doing at 13 though.
