He leaves at the end of the season.
Fantastic coach, who has done wonders with the Leinster forwards. Thanks for everything Gibbes.

Any rumours on a replacement?
I suspect this kills off the Cockers to Clermont rumours at last.

Interestingly, doesn't say if he's getting the top job there once Cotter comes over to us.

I was hoping Schmidt would bring him to coach the Irish forwards.

Big loss for Leinster. He was Cheikas best signing and really toughened up the Leinster pack.

Most definitely Prof. He was the best ever Leinster signing, imo. He will leave a huge gap in the setup.profitius wrote:Big loss for Leinster. He was Cheikas best signing and really toughened up the Leinster pack.
He has been the one coaching constant in 5 years of success. I think we should nick a top Frog forwards coach, in retaliation.
Le cash-rich basterds.
Schmidt should have kept him with Ireland, but Jonno owes us nowt. Fantastic influence in taking us so far. I wish him every success in France. He deserves it.
Rock On Jonno Gibbes.

He's not getting the top job, read on the ASM website that they're promoting from within for the head coach. Can't remember his name.George Carlin wrote:Interestingly, doesn't say if he's getting the top job there once Cotter comes over to us.

I'd heard they were looking at several outside options including Robbie Deans, Richard Cockerill and the Grenoble head coach. Interesting if they've decided to go internal after dipping their toe in the water.

Cullen could be involved in the coaching team next year

He would make a great forwards coach. Does a lot of work with the team already in the background. Very intelligent man. Knows the game inside-out and is a born Leader of men. He may even make head coach one day.Golden wrote:Cullen could be involved in the coaching team next year
I love Leo btw.

Ja. Cullen for backs coach.
See, this is the real problem with Irish Rugby. And in Irish life these days. No imagination. No originality.
Just recycled British and Yank dross.
Things go better with Coke.

Re: Jono Gibbes to Clermont
No imagination? Why not ask Leo to draft up the plans to the redesigned RDS while we're at it, or head up the health service and get it back on track? Leo is a forward, with proven ability to lead a pack of forwards into battle, why would you waste his talents by asking him to coach the backs when a) we already have a backs coach in MOC and b) we will be in need of a forwards coach by next season?Gibson wrote:Ja. I was joking (pished) Mick. Meant forwards coach of course. He will make a great one in my opinion.
