shocking ref shocking wlad!

How on earth does wlad get away with useing he's forearm all the time , he did it all night against haye and again tonight absolutely disgusting from the ref , even Tyson would never beat wlad when hes allowed to lean and hold , watching that made me angry!

Same mate, it was an absolute stinker, Wlad got away with everything. Holding, throwing, clinching elbowing, leaning. Luis Pabon is an incompetent fool and should never be allowed a boxing ring again. No wonder Wlad never takes any punches, he is always out of range then when you get in range he stops you illegally. Calling a UFC takedown a knockdown was the icing on the cake.

I will never watch a Wladimir fight again turned it off after 9 rounds.

I thought it was a great performance. Negated Povetkins attempts and hammered in some Left hooks and his usual power jabs.

I just watched the first three rounds. Is it like that all night? That's more than DQ worthy. Switch to MMA Wlad.

Getting into a foul contest with Tyson would be unwise even for a fellow of Wlad's size.

Tyson did nothing in the holds vs Quick Tillis, bit Evan Fields in the ear due to excess clinching - but now he would destroy Wlad in those self same clinches? My what beautiful rose-tinted specs you all have.

He literally get pov in a headlock any time he gets near , I wonder how many times the ref says break in a wlad fight , what's annoying is you never really get to see if povetkin and haye would actually beat wlad boxing because they never really get the chance to box

Don't compare Haye to Povetkin. The Russian went out on his shield. He kept going in. Haye went out on his bike... Would be interesting to see if Wlad would employ the same tactics against his literally bigger brother, will never know, of course, but I've always regarded Wlad as the lesser of the two, and he rarely does anything to prove otherwise.

Shah - Might be, it happens overnight in "the sport of boxing". Ultimately Povetkin stood no chance, but massive credit to him, he took a lot of flush hits, and was only dropped twice (legitimately), guy has received a lot of criticism for not waiting to fight WK, but when the time came, at least he gave it a go. The guy could have done better if he was a little lighter, I suppose.

Wlads not an offensive fighter though, he coast through his fights and the couple of times he did take the fight a full twelve when he was doing his all out attack routine he gassed.

Well, he is a 37-year old 6'6 241lbs giant... It's getting harder and harder to keep the stamina up.

He is truly dreadful. The sheer panic he exhibits when a punch comes his way is embarrassing. I have no doubt that Lewis, Bowe, Holyfield and Tyson would have stopped him. And that's just the recent top men.

A stronger ref. would have thrown him out. Povetkin would have fared better had he not been grappled all night (and Povetkin is no great shakes).

The fight was categorised by a punch or two followed by 5 seconds of holding followed by a break. Without that, it would have been...a completely different fight.

Difficult to say he'd have been DQ'd, a stronger ref may have simply got him to stop rather than let him make Hatton look like he was having a tea party.

Agree fared better, but wouldn't change from a wide UD in my eyes.

You are insinuating he isn't the smartest if you think after getting threatened by a ref with a DQ he would carry on with the same tactics. He carried on doing it because he was allowed to. Anyways there was only ever one winner in the fight. He might not be pretty to watch but he gets the wins.

He looked lost when he couldn't hold. All because he had someone in front of him that could slip a jab and throw a left hook or (occasional) right hand. He looked nervous, off-balance and uncoordinated.

Despite Wlads crap showing it in no way softens Hayes disgraceful performance against Wlad - he was falling over at the drop of a hat. And scott there were two knockdowns which were ruled slips so 4 is fair enough

Definitely a very different fight without Wlad given the green light to cheat all night, Povetkin was not given any chance to actually fight inside due to the excessive holding and leaning, by the halfway mark he was exhausted from an 18 stone man grappling and leaning on him. It says everything about the negative way Wlad fights that he could not finish a very brave but totally knackered after 6 rounds Povetkin.
