If Novak doesn't buck his ideas up, people will start thinking he's throwing the match! That was awful!

Worst performance I have seen from djokovic since Wimbledon final. I don't think its federer that is the issue, he has beaten fed 13 times remember

They do not do it very often, and never anything overly aggressive, but the do take gentle swipes at each other occasionally.lags72 wrote:I can't recall Fed ever having taken any sort of unpleasant swipe at Rafa

Second set to Novak.
His level has improved (it couldn't get much worse!) but Roger has definitely dropped off a bit too.

Awful set from Fed. Going to be tough to win now.

Re: Paris Masters - Day 6 (Updated) - Mens Singles
The Fed comment is odd. I can only assume he was told he'd have to take 4 months to rest it and its just a coincidence that it is the length of time Andy is predicted to be out for. Otherwise, it would look pretty bad to be criticising a guy who has just had surgery.

That nonchalant half volley 30-0 up in the third looks costly now, Djoko is at full strength whiles Feds regressed a bit

2 breaks now, nearly impossible for the Fed

Well done Nole to recover from a slow start. Likely another Nole vs Rafa match tomorrow.

The good news for Fed is that he can still produce brilliance.
The bad news is that Novak was there for the taking today but Roger couldn't quite get it done.
Novak will need to play better against Rafa though.

Re: Paris Masters - Day 6 (Updated) - Mens Singles
The WTF group A is easier, IMO, compared to group B especially given the O2 surface.
Group A - Nadal, Berdych, Wawrinka, Ferrer
Group B - Djokovic, Federer, Gasquet, Del Potro
Nadal, Ferrer v Djokovic, Del Potro (more than likely).

Or could it have been a reference to Rafa, who didn't have surgery but just had a long rest?Born Slippy wrote:The Fed comment is odd. Or maybe, like you say, it wasn't directed at anyone at all, but that wouldn't make for a good headline so the press made up a context to put it in - how unlike them!

Re: Paris Masters - Day 6 (Updated) - Mens Singles
Nadal's group is miles easier, but given the WTF format it is not as important as in a knock-out tournament. On the flip-side of his easy group draw, Rafa is all but guaranteed to have a tough SF opponent, while the winner of group B may end up playing maybe Ferrer.laverfan wrote:The WTF group A is easier, IMO, compared to group B especially given the O2 surface.

Nadal has a 49-7 record vs his group. If he's motivated, I could see him waltz to the semi's without losing a set.
Then again he has a 65-30 record vs the "difficult" group...

I refuse to watch Federer, Djokovic, Nadal or Murray matches. Where is Gulbis and Dolgopolov wqhen you need them? Both those guys would walk over these semi finalists imo.
Wow Ferrer dominating Nadal like he isn't even there..

Nadal is not good enough to win these pressure matches, big tournaments like Paris are harder to win than tiny dullard ones e.g USO and FO, where nobody even cares.

Ferrer certainly would rank on top 5 in the most uncredited and undervalued sportsman in the history of the game, how often he is called weaponless skill less player but today he is outplaying Nadal.

Re: Paris Masters - Day 6 (Updated) - Mens Singles
lol. You love coming out with h2h and all manner of minor stats you think make Nadal the daddy, but Nadal is losing 1-0,1-0 to rank outsiders in the greatest Slam (even now slow surface)... in his prime. Maybe you need to stop quoting H2H? And then just to give you a good kick in the ass, Ferrer beating him. You look so silly on the forum sometimes. Not sure you realise?kingraf wrote:Nadal has a 49-7 record vs his group. If he's motivated, I could see him waltz to the semi's without losing a set.

All Nadal does is retrieve. His games will die because no-one in the future is going to watch that boring style of play. No talent.

I'm not a gambling man but I'd put money on Ferrer losing his serve again, the tie-break about 7-2, and the match.

Ferrer who is acclaimed in this forum as weaponless and skillless completely outplayed Nadal the entire match except for the one small panic when serving for the match the first time.
Just curios to know do Nadal fans agree Ferrer outplayed him here today? or is it due to some injury that Nadal lost?

I have always felt Ferrer could be a match for Nadal even on the red courts. And I have been thoroughly disappointed watching Ferrer handing to Nadal so many free pass over the years. Batter later than never one would say. The spanish terrier today made me proud.

You always see loose stats to over hype your hero and argument don't u?kingraf wrote:Nadal has a 49-7 record vs his group. If he's motivated, I could see him waltz to the semi's without losing a set.
Then again he has a 65-30 record vs the "difficult" group...
How easily you forgot the stats that he has never won the tournament and how many times he got eliminated before reaching the knockouts? and is the unique candidate who in the top 2 endup with no wins after the round robin tournament?

Good win for Ferrer. Will need to play even better against Djokovic. Interesting that it keeps YE1 technically open. Can't see Rafa going 0-3 against that group though.
It does look like Novak is going to keep himself reasonably close to Rafa in the rankings though. May well have a chance to get the spot back at IW next year.

Next year I see Del Potro reaching that ultimate number by winning the Australian Open, French Open Wimbledon and USO .Born Slippy wrote:Good win for Ferrer. What does Novak have to do now to reclaim number 1?
