West Indies in India 2013
The West Indies are in India to play a 2 test series followed by 3 ODIs. The hastily arranged series will be Sachin Tendulkar's last test series for India. The first game will be played at Kolkata's historic Eden Gardens and the 2nd game will be played at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, Sachin's home ground.
The West Indies have been making a bit of a recovery in test cricket in recent times and would look to do the same. They do have some real quick bowlers in Kemar Roah, Tino Best and the new-comer Sheldon Cotterrell who can ask some questions to the Indian batsmen. Shane Shillingford made a fine return to test cricket recently and he'll be leading the spin attack with support from Veerasammy Permole. The batting depends on Chris Gayle, Marlon Samuels and above, Shivnarine Chanderpaul. Kieran Powell and Darren Bravo have the opportunity to take up greater responsibility and drive the side towards greater progress.
As for India, there is more to the series beyond all the emotions attached with Tendulkar's retirement. The openers Shikhar Dhawan and Murali Vijay would want to consolidate their positions before the South Africa tour. Though Dhawan has been in good form eversince that unbelievable test debut against Australia, Vijay has been struggling for consistency and impact after the Australia series across formats and his most reent Ranji outing was very disappointing as he couldn't get pass double figures in both innings. Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli would be looking to have lots of runs under their belt before taking up the huge challenge of South Africa. Ravindra Jadeja would want to continue his terrific work with the ball, and score some runs at 7 so that he could make a case for retention in the test side even in away conditions. Ravichandran Ashwin needs to come back to wicket taking form. The look of the rest of the attack is not clear as yet as the squad will be announced only later today. Zaheer Khan is likely to be back as he has regained fitness and form and Bhuvneshwar Kumar's new ball skills might see him taking up the other seamer's position above Umesh Yadav. The 3rd spinner's spot could go to one of Pragyan Ojha, Amit Mishra and Harbhajan Singh.

Not too happy with the selection of Vijay but still understandable to an extent.
Mishra and Ishant are an absolute joke of a selection.
