Inexcusable acts in the ring
What moments in the ring should never be forgiven.
The most famous are Tyson's ear munching and Duran no mas.
Without wanting to mention all the obvious ones I would like to add Montell Griffin in the first Jones Jr fight. He took the easy way out when being hit lightly by Jones when down and won on a DQ. Luckily Jones Jr ran through him in a round in a rematch.

Re: Inexcusable acts in the ring
My reading of the NO MAS incident is that Duran's sense of machismo was so offended by Leonard's fooling around and showboating that he said "I don't want to fight this clown no more" not that he quit through being humiliated.
Duran was a fighter and didn't think there was a place in the ring for that sort of stuff.
So I'd also vote for excessive clowning, showboating, preening and efforts to humiliate an opponent by a fighter.

Didn't that Butler guy go on to kill Max Kellermans brother?
Disgusting excuse for a human.
Didn't like Direll vs Abraham.
Also didn't like Ortiz headbuttinv Floyd and pacman punching JMM when he was on the deck in their first fight.
Lack of sportsmanship in general.

Disagree Dave, Leonard was making him look very very poor. Outboxing him and genuinely humiliating him. Duran quit because he didn't want to look a complete mug in terms of boxing ability...and just in general really.

Mccloskey sucker punching that Italian guy was absolutely classless and so was the commentators reaction to it.

I like how the ref s***s himself and then takes a dive that Ashley Young would be proud of, then when everybody crowds around Sprott the ref jumps up and starts giving it large.Champagne_Socialist wrote:So obvious when refs are paid off and are looking for any excuse to stop a fighter.STC wrote:Ref clearly takes a dive. Technically 'outside the ring' by a yard or so, but the German timekeeper in a recent Danny Williams (I think, may have been Sprott or someone similar) fight over their ringing the bell with a minute to go in the round and the local German homeboy getting a spanking.
Disgraceful.

Re: Inexcusable acts in the ring
The ref deserved his own KO for that! Sometimes refs are harshly criticised but this one was defiantly on someone's payroll, shocking. The way he went down from a slight push is embarrassing. Reminds me of Di canio pushing the ref!Champagne_Socialist wrote:So obvious when refs are paid off and are looking for any excuse to stop a fighter.STC wrote:Ref clearly takes a dive. Inexcusable.

Golota against Bowe deliberately, hitting Bowe low, time and time again in a fight he was arguably winning what a clown.

Duran quit because he was getting jabbed time and time again without being able to land ANYTHING of his own. It has nothing to do with his machismo, he was out boxed pure and simple....

Jim Watt's Glaswegian kiss on Sean o'grady was poor.
And as it came up earlier, dariusz michalczewski's dramatics against rochigianni
I'm assuming the earlier roger tillerman comment was aimed at ottke Reid... Which should top any worst/ most bent ref performance chart

Wonder what would've happened if there'd been a rubber and SRL had faced a proper fit and sharp Duran like first time round rather than a fat half-drunk podge in the middle of party season..........?

Ring riots are embarissing for the sport.....but damn entertaining.
Mayweather v Judah was a absolute disgrace but Bowe v Golota has to be tops.

Chisora spitting water in Wlad's face before his fight with Vitali. Technically in the ring and no excuse for such behaviour. Mind you, having your brother in the ring to intimidate the opposition is pretty poor showing as well!! Actually shows a weakness as an over reliance on mind games hides insecurity in your own performance (or other such psychobabble).

Because he kicked or because the ref saved his '0' by refusing to punish him?BallchinianMuffwig wrote:This probably isn't "inexcusable" but Broner kicking Malignaggi made my blood pressure hit new heights
If that fight had been ref'd properly/fairly Paulie would've won.

Re: Inexcusable acts in the ring
Did you not watch the fight mm8?
Broner could've had 2 or 3 points deducted for various dirty tactics like elbows and knees/kicks. Which, if correctly identified and punished by the ref, would've switched the scorecards to an SD in favour of Paulie rather than Broner.

Re: Inexcusable acts in the ring
That'd would've been way more hassle than it was worth. You know how hyper-sensitive Truss is, especially about one of his pet fighters (Broner, in this case). If you say anything negative about him or that fight then the toys all fly out the pram and I end up getting reported to the Mods.mobilemaster8 wrote:Didn't watch it mate no. But yeh, basically, re-checking the scorecards, 2 docked points (which would've been fair) would've left it as one scorecard each and one drawn. If 3 points had been deducted (Khan-LP levels of harsh) then Paulie would've taken the SD.

Fair point Toppy haha.
Saying that he is away for the next week if memory serves so fire away.
So a draw would have been a more appropriate score? Wouldn't have thought so given Broners post fight interviews etc.

I believe it may be an opinion offered in "Four Kings" which, although doesn't automatically "make it so", would suggest it comes from a more reliable source that just me spouting off.ONETWOFOREVER wrote:This absolute TOSHDAVE667 wrote:My reading of the NO MAS incident is that Duran's sense of machismo was so offended by Leonard's fooling around and showboating that he said "I don't want to fight this clown no more" not that he quit through being humiliated.
