World Tour Final Draw
First topic message reminder :
Group 1: Nadal, Ferrer, Berdych, Wawrinka
Group 2: Djokovic, Del Potro, Federer, Gasquet
Shall we just give Rafa a bye to the SF?

To be fair - J-Mac has a love for Nadal previously only seen in Twilight and 50 Shades of Grey..

Re: World Tour Final Draw
Thats what he said after he had a practice match with him...
I was a massive fan of Bjorn Borg... but no way would he have made toast of Nadal or many others in today´s physical game.

Re: World Tour Final Draw
Ha ha of course any talk about an injury that kept Nadal out of the game for eight months and has blighted his career is clearly "nonsense". Tennis must be a very difficult sport for you to watch when you "can't stand" a player that has the best win/loss ratio of this generation. I suppose you enjoyed the Nadal/Darcis match? In this match Darcis proved that any player can beat the world number one if they get their timing right.Leonard777 wrote:"The knee is not 100%, but it's not the moment to think about that. I was able to play with free movements for most of the season."
He's already started with the knee nonsense...

Re: World Tour Final Draw
It's fine to talk about the knee. Thing is if he says its not 100 percent it doesn't ways mean he's making excuses maybe he's just tryi g to be honest with people. He did say its been working fine the rest if the year. Thing is we can't not talk about it just because a couple if people don't like him and ate having a go at everyone who does criticism is fine but hate isn't that's the key

Hi! Just back from holiday where I wasn't exactly banned from talking about "knees and fings" but strongly discouraged... I can see that they are still a hot topic here though despite the discouragementHaddie-nuff wrote:

What's Spanish for "Hey David, my knees are bad, but I can still thrash you 6-3, 6-2. No offence, my friend"?

The goal was to avoid the usual trench warfare between fans of GOATS's. But is now become a gaol for discussions.Haddie-nuff wrote:oooops sorry JM it was LF ...page (1)
@L777… since H-n has admitted that Nadal's knees will NEVER be 100%, due to well-known reasons (as documented in his Biography), perhaps we should have a separate injury thread and just discuss injuries (and how they are used as excuses or not).

Might be worth a shout it'll be easy to regulate any arguments that crop up if its all on one thread

Re: World Tour Final Draw
It doesn´t take me to "admit" to Rafa´s knee problems LF. The whole tennis world and its fans have acknowledged it. Why the subject has to be constantly discussed I cannot imagine. During the play today the camera zoomed in on Rafa´s left knee and it was plain enough to see the scars from the constant injections he has to have. But his critics seemingly do not want to see.laverfan wrote:The goal was to avoid the usual trench warfare between fans of GOATS's. Re: World Tour Final Draw
I like the unpredictability of not having an injury thread. It means all threads are one comment away from war!
Poster A: Nadal owns a pet giraffe
Poster B: Really? Always thought he was a cat person.
Poster C: It's all a front to cover up a non-existent knee injury!!!
Have to love the spontaneity of it all!

Sorry KR you have that wrong... it is not a giraffe its an elephant. The ceilings are too low in Spanish houses.kingraf wrote:I like the unpredictability of not having an injury thread. It means all threads are one comment away from war!

Well, I didn't see it, but obviously with one player hobbling around with an injured knee, I suspect it was a bit one-sided.naxroy wrote:nobody will talk about the match i guess

That is true, but Rafa played some real good tennis. It is going to be tough to beat him on this court.

Re: World Tour Final Draw
Very slow. If I'm honest I've never liked the 02 court too slow but at the same time not like a clay court. I've never found the tennis as high a quality. It's not like the classics such as Becker Sampras in 96

Talking about slowing of the surfaces, here is an article from our site which takes a analytical view at the slowing down of the surfaces....
