Ricky Hatton - Setting himself up for another fall ??

I like Ricky........I think he was a great fighter even If the majority on here don't agree........Think instead of deriding him Brits should be proud to have such an excellent achiever........

Heres the juice..........Hatton just seems to think he has to prove himself all the time..........He'll never be a big promoter..He'll never be a big Manager he's just a small guy playing a big man's game........

You could see the clenched teeth when he was praising the Aussie boy for stopping his "One" big hope of making shed loads of money and getting a big seat in the game........Towers an unbeaten 6ft 8 heavy with a good physique and decent looks would have been a multi million pound asset in the lucrative heavy division.........Napoleon wouldn't want Ricky..........as a general.

Boxing is a closed shop........Hatton got his SKy deal taken away........He's lost a few of his fighters and he seems destined for heartbreak after heartbreak in the cut throat business.........of Boxing..

Rick........Enjoy your retirement.........respect your Wife...Love your kids and patch it up with your folks.........You only get one Mother and father and when they are gone they are gone and you can't fix things then........

Leave promoting and Managing to the hardened, know-the-promoting-game-types. less sensitive guys like Hearn and Warren...........and just enjoy the trappings of your success..........Or do something you're more made for in training or local charity stuff........

You're a sensitive guy..............Promotion and managing in Boxing isn't meant for those types...

You don't need it..and you don't need to look for respect......You have it in bundles..........

Yeah he looks beat up. But if hes off abusing himself with drugs etc then thats his problem. It doesnt mean automatically hes a poor victim suffering from uncontrollable depression. He could just be a idiot or a weak character or still desperate for attention. Hes never been a looker. Maybe hes just had a few late nights.

Could only wish I could be so perfect as to resist all temptation and be completely resistant to any temptation in life. Would have saved me a fortune on booze, fags and kebabs.

I dont really care what vices people have but they should accept responsibility for them instead of pretending its not their fault and a victim. If somebody smokes or eats themselves into a state of obesity then fair enough but dont claim its some kind of illness as opposed to simply life choices. Cases like spoilt rich brats like Lindsay Lohan who is used to get whatever she wants only to be diagnosed a victim when she is caught drunk driving or doing coke or Tiger Woods who liked shagging women by the dozens being diagnosed as a victim shows just how ridiculous the victim culture has become.

Catchweight your looking at one small part of a massive problem. Not every alcoholic cries victim. In fact I know many self confessed alcoholics who are very upbeat and whilst not getting completely trashed to the point where they are falling all over the place and cant speak, they drink every single day and drink more in one day that I could in a weekend.

I have never once heard them cry about being a victim. They do it because its just how they are.

Now in terms of it being an illness. There is one in particular who I personally witnessed go a week without. He is 34 years old and he never ate, vomited and had the runs for the whole time. In the end he started up again and you know what, you wouldn't even know he had a problem if you didn't know him personally.

Now as far as im aware, vomiting and diarrhoea come on when you are ill. So as it is connected with them drinking, then it is part of an illness.

Now, the weakness of character tag you and LJ have mentioned I suppose can be used against SOME alcoholics. But that just like saying "All black guys are hung." Every alcoholic is different.

Point is, not every alcoholic is weak, a majority of them are happy the way they are and some aren't, I guess thats the "victim" thing you are talking about.

No I said in my original post that I fully appreciate there are genuine cases. But nowadays there is a tendency to label everyone and everything as a victim or a vice or suffering from some illness. I cited Tiger Woods and Lindsay Lohan as ridiculous examples of this rather than the normal. As Lumbering Jack said, Hatton may just be a weak character. I dont believe everyone who has a problem is a victim.

I also get the feeling Ricky isn't off the drugs too.

He is not a boxer anymore and he likes a pint and a takeaway like 90% of the country, most of the retires boxers i know are complete lardarses Hatton is no different. If he is still on the sniff then that's his business it certainly wont make him fat though.

Of course it's his business, its just really sad to see
