Prepare to watch Price do a "Fury"
Has to defend his Commonwealth strap against the hard hitting Aussie Lucas Browne.
My crystal ball tells me Price will vacate and fight crud for another 4/5 fights....just like Tyson Fury did and (quiet rightly) got ridiculed for.
What this space....
Thoughts on the fight that isn't going to happen??

I dont think he will vacant. He would be better off retiring if he is going to try and avoid a guy like Browne.

Having limited viewing of Browne (Toney and Towers fights) it looks like a nice, easy comeback fight for Price to me. He'd be a fool to dodge the immobile, 34 year old prospect.

Agree with JBW, if Price can't nullify this type of opponent then it's time he hung up the gloves. Phyically Price has the tools but it's his mental approach to the game, or more accurately, his mental fortitude once the going gets tough in the ring, that leaves cause for concern

Audley has shown there is plenty of money on offer If you stay on the periphery of the world scene.......
my guess is Price will get at least two title shots by hanging around regardless of success..
If Mormeck can get a shot anyone can.

Re: Prepare to watch Price do a "Fury"
Audley had the "personality" and Olympic background to "sell" the fight. As nice as he is, people still don't really know David Price and in order to put himself forward he's going to have to beat more ranked opponents than A.N.other fighter who can secure himself a shot by being a gobsh*teTRUSSMAN66 wrote:Audley has shown there is plenty of money on offer If you stay on the periphery of the world scene.......my guess is Price will get at least two title shots by hanging around regardless of success..

Re: Prepare to watch Price do a "Fury"
"Former world champion" who "will fight like Mike Tyson" is a lightly easier sell for Wlad than "The guy who lost twice to the guy that I beat twice"
Doesn't make it right, it''s just selling a fight to a bunch of Germans who couldn't care less who they watch.
No real reason why they shouldn't choose Price over anyone else, I'm just saying but, as you say, all opinions are welcome, even yours

Tall, personable, gentle gianty, blue collar olympian from Liverpool with a big punch.............to me is an easier sell than a washed up, fat, 40 year old slobby ex cruiserweight champion.......
But it's in the eye of the beholder........

Agreed but when you have tall, self uppercutting, borderline bi-polar, Traveller with dubious family members and a very big mouth competing for attention....it's easier to sell that than "nice bloke who goes into his shell at the first sign of trouble."TRUSSMAN66 wrote:Tall, personable, gentle gianty, blue collar olympian from Liverpool with a big punch.............to me is an easier sell than a washed up, fat, 40 year old slobby ex cruiserweight champion.......

Problem arises when Haye flattens Fury, they struggle to sell Haye/Wlad as a viable option given what happened last time and they're left with Price.
Still, I don't get paid to promote that guff so why should I care?

Re: Prepare to watch Price do a "Fury"
The point I was making about Price vs Browne is even though Browne is one dimensional, so is Chisora. Both guys are similar in style and Price would no doubt be avoiding guys who bring pressure and hold stoppage power.
After the 2 defeats he will want a few non risk tune ups and Browne would be too risky for him so can't see anything other than him throwing the belt in the bin ala Bowe.

Re: Prepare to watch Price do a "Fury"
The problem with binning the belt is that he's still going to have to fight these types of guys at some point even if he doesn't have any serious World title aspirations (which surely he does).
He'd be a couple of fights away from a World title tilt but if he bins the belt and starts again, he's got what? Four or five more fights to get back to where he is now? Why on earth would he want to do that. Surely he's smart enought to realise that despite his big Liverpudlian following, he's going to be an even harder sell if he gives people the impression that he just wants to make a few quid and go nowhere fast.
Sorry, but for me he needs the Chisora types to keep the momentum going and also prove one way or the other if he's got the right mental attitude for the game. Chisora is clearly beatable but he won't roll over at the first sign of trouble.

Sorry to burst your bubble chum but I was agreeing that it's all in the eye of the beholder. I apologise for not making that bit clear.....oh and you were so close to me admitting I was wrong.TRUSSMAN66 wrote:Nice that you admit you're wrong for a change..DAVE667 wrote:Agreed but when you have tall, self uppercutting, borderline bi-polar, Traveller with dubious family members and a very big mouth competing for attention....it's easier to sell that than "nice bloke who goes into his shell at the first sign of trouble."TRUSSMAN66 wrote:Tall, personable, gentle gianty, blue collar olympian from Liverpool with a big punch.............to me is an easier sell than a washed up, fat, 40 year old slobby ex cruiserweight champion.......

Re: Prepare to watch Price do a "Fury"
I'm with Dee, I can see Price vacating and fighting the likes of Rogan. They took one risk on the Thompson comeback and I don't see them taking another one on Browne who is on a bit of a roll and unbeaten.
I also think Booth will want a bit of time to work with Price so the ordering of the Browne mandatory may come too soon.
I assume Price would just drop the Commonwealth belt and keep his British title?
Is Booth taking on managing and promoting Price as well?

Makes sense really, just think of the headlines when Price wins. 'Scouser beats up taxi driver'!Strongback wrote:I'm with Dee, I can see Price vacating and fighting the likes of Rogan.
