Judah dismisses Khan
Sky Sports
IBF light-welterweight champion Zab Judah has dismissed facing Amir Khan as it would be a "step down".
WBA king Khan is on the look out for a new opponent after his unification clash with Timothy Bradley fell through.
The Bolton boxer had agreed terms to fight Bradley on July 23, only for the WBC and WBO champion to then pull out due to last-minute contract wrangles.
But Khan's hopes of facing the vastly-experienced Judah instead have been dashed as the 33-year-old southpaw wants to take on pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao.
"I like the Pacquiao fight," the two-weight world champion told the examiner.com.
"No disrespect to Amir Khan but it's a step down for myself.
"He's a kid, You know what I'm saying. He's just coming on the scene."
Judah has 41 victories and six defeats in 49 contests, while Khan, 25-1, has rebuilt his career with seven straight wins since suffering a shock 54 second knockout to Breidis Prescott in 2008.

Step down from the opposition he has been facing?
Good luck getting Pacquiao you waste of talent.

Morning Kev
Thats a bit of a joke from Judah. If he wins - he will have 2 belts! He is always banging on about it on Twitter how much he would destroy Khan.
Would get a decent pay day as well. For me - its a 50/50 fight depending on which Judah shows up.
Bad move from Judah. Pacman would destroy him and end his career.

Would be a unification fight for Judah if he faced khan, he clearly 'likes the pacquiao fight' because of the money it would bring. But Judah is well past his best, if pacman fights him it would be a bigger joke than Mosley. But it won't happen, manny looks like fighting Marquez so Judah could be left out in the cold if he turns this fight down - which would be foolish as he could potentially beat khan if he's clever enough about it. Against manny he'd have no chance.

Judah isn't well past his best think he has still got something about him but he will never be as good as he was before the Tszyu fight. He has more to offer than Mosley did.
I always thought he had the beating of Khan if he turned up but Manny would beat him but I think it would be a great fight. Their was a lot of talk he would fight JMM before Pac got involved in negotiations the Mexican.
I don't see why Judah is knocking this back who else can he fight? Bradley is looking for an easy opponent might fight Maidana but if he does he will look like he has ducked Khan.

Yeah strange move by Judah and a matchup i wanted to see. Hopefully he see's sense and takes the fight, i can't see who else he faces either. Pacman is a step way too far but maybe he's just after one last payday.

Not to sure he has hired Pernell Whittaker as a new trainer and is paying him a lot of money he seems to be taking boxing more seriously than ever.
Hope he doesn't think about fighting at 147lbs again he was no good at that weight he is a 140lbs fighter.
I've always been a Judah fan he has the fastest hands I think I've ever seen. Will need to go down as a waste of talent though.

Re: Judah dismisses Khan
Khan should fight Bradley or move up.
There are nor really big fights out there for him at Light-Welterweight apart from that and Judah; and he doesn't want it.
A testing the water fight at Welterweight might be the best course of action.

That means he wants the fight. Probably the first shot in pay negotiations.
I reckon Zab would stretch Khan.

Ha. All we need now is Charlton Heston and Omar Shariff.

Re: Judah dismisses Khan
Manny Pacquaio is already set too fight Juan Man Marquez in November so he'll be waiting a while for that fight.Theres plenty of time for him to fight Khan (not a step down) and if he wins that then he would deserve a shot against Pacman.Defeating Kaizer Mabuza suddenly doesn't make you deserve able to fight him.Is Judah just trying too get one big payday?

Not so sure losing to Mayweather and drawing with Mora is enough to get you a fight with Pac. Maybe he should load his wraps with plaster and then Pac would fight him.

Re: Judah dismisses Khan
I think we can expect Khan to fight either Lamont Peterson or Bredis Prescott - he is fast running out of options.
I also reckon Judah will come running back to the table when Team Manny tells him to eff off.

I think Judah would lose to both Khan and Pac and I think 'most' would agree.
Judah probably knows this at this stage in his career and if you're going to lose you might as well lose to the bigger name and earn much more from it.

Re: Judah dismisses Khan
feel for khan he's trying to get the big fights and it's not happening for him, can see him having to take on another mccloskey level opponent and getting slated for it. think its ridiculous that the WBA champ cannot get a unifaction fight because of the refusal of the other 2 champs- is he meant to wait around? don't think moving up yet is the best idea, two tough fights for unifaction (providing he can get through them both) would set khan up great for the move to 147- makes a mockery of the division, the governing bodys should have the power to force either judah or bradley to fight or relinquish then the other two could fight to unify the division. not going to happen though, khan will probably have to step up sooner and leave the division a mess.

Re: Judah dismisses Khan
Why does he need to step up in weight? Bradley will fight him when he gets his easier opponent out the way which makes financial sense for him why have one £1m+ payday when you can have 2?
Judah is after a big money fight. Khan isn't big money. He could rematch Maidana or offer Guerrero the chance to step up.

he could wait for bradley, who im sure will fight him eventually- but khan needs a big fight for me after the mccloskey fight, and i can't see where he's going to get it from till then if judah is a no no, if he takes on a lesser level opponent next i think it could damage his standing- especially if it was another prescott moment.

Re: Judah dismisses Khan
A Maidana rematch would do good buisness and Khan knows what mistakes he made despite winning and I would expect an even better performance from him the 2nd time round.
