Rose awarded life membership

What do you think of these life memberships? Don't they discourage players from playing ET events - as I assume the minimum tournament rule to retain ET membership (and eligable for the Ryder Cup) now becomes irrelevant for Rose?
By looking at O'Grady's face you can almost see what he's thinking: "Oh Poopie, I just gave Justin a one-way ticket to America."

Didn't charl scwartzel say get would give up his euro membership over this playing 2/3 events? But I'd guess he has lifetime membership aswell??

ben, I guess he'd just stop playing.
Schwartzel has life membership as well - so if he wants he can just show the ET the middle finger now and then come back later.
