My precioussssssssses
Just one match to go until a perfect season and one match to put our trophy cabinet on the line, albeit at least a virtual one. With the win against England I think NZ now has every trophy possible on offer.
From my understanding NZ now has the Rugby World Cup - even though it left for Ireland last month, the Rugby Championship, the Bledisloe Cup, the Dave Gallagher Trophy, the Hillary Shield and the Raeburn Shield. That's where it gets hazy. Is there a trophy for games between NZ and SA, Argentina, Ireland and other nations?
Is this the first time NZ has held all these titles at the same time? I have the impression that some of these trophies like the Hillary Shield are recent additions. The internet is a wondrous thing but just interested if any Kiwi fans (think Alan's busy with his research) know.
As for other nations, what has been your maximum haul of trophies on offer?

Speaking of Gollum...haven't you renamed the Webb Ellis as the Craig Joubert Perpetual Trophy?

Can't say much for fear of arrogance (even with little to be arrogant about)
You New Zealanders are very good though aren't you?

Maybe we should play a game against India?
Kia, New Zealand and South Africa contest the "Freedom Cup".

Cheers Laurie. Should be the name for the trophy between NZ and Scotland.

Or "the Chainsaw Cup".
Stihl would make a good sponsor.

We should play Wales for the "Shane Shield", in recognition of Shane
Howarth.

And that makes all of them. We (some of us) also have the sxv trophy.aucklandlaurie wrote:

Talk about gluttony.
Didnt we therefore have them all before losing to England last year as thats all thats changed since then?

Re: My precioussssssssses
Messam made a comment to the press that in trying to match the swing low drowning out he almost fainted durng the haka.
Ive said this a couple of times in the past having done a few pre match hakas in my time. It takes it out of you and if you put too much into it you literally start seeing stars straight afterwards.
Which is why I thought the best time to have a go at the AB's is straight after kick off. I recall one match I was still dizzy after a couple of minutes of play...can't be a good thing if theyre all like that....
and I thought it was just me cos no one I know seems to have experienced it...

Re: My precioussssssssses
So there's only trophies for teams that have beaten us in the last 50 years? Seems a tad unfair. Maybe if we put up a trophy for next week Ireland might say to us: 'Ah so now we're finally playing for something, you watch out cos we're going to tan your hides!'
It was a good response from the crowd Tman. Thought Messam could've just dropped a few f bombs in Maori as I don't think any of the players could hear him and I had trouble picking him out.

Have you seen the pick and go rugby site? Has the trophies up for each country. First time I recall seeing no cobwebs under ours...cobwebs meaning you don't have that one.

Blimey! Well that's the last time I say it gives you guys an edge!! Thinking about it England have often looked good for a very brief opening period. That settles it, compulsory Hakas every 15 minutes, just to take the sting out of youTaylorman wrote:Messam made a comment to the press that in trying to match the swing low drowning out he almost fainted durng the haka.

No Wooden Spoon for New Zealand this year! Do you have that in the Rugby Championship?

More extreme Notch. We have self flagellation for any loss rather than a wooden spoon or a giant slipper. Argentina got a new coach for their last place troubles.

Seeing as NZ were 7-0 up after 90 seconds, I'd guess it didn't cause too many problems!Taylorman wrote:Messam made a comment to the press that in trying to match the swing low drowning out he almost fainted durng the haka.

Course it did - they were planning to score in the first minute - performance was 50% lower than planned.
