Welcome to Season 6 of the Aviva Premiership fantasy rugby game. Below are the rules of the game which must be adhered to. If there are any situations that arise in the course of the game which are not covered by the rules, a final decision will be made by the RFU (SJE) as to how the situation will be resolved.
Senior Squads wrote:
The maximum squad size is 40 senior players. If a team has more than 40 players in their squad then they will be fined £1 million per player over the permitted amounts per day for the first seven days. If after 7 consecutive days a team still has more than the permitted number of players then the team will be fined £2 million per player per day, and fined 1 league point per player per day for the next seven days. If after this time a team still has more than the permitted number of players in their squad, the RFU (me) will remove players at its discretion to bring them back under the permitted numbers. There will be no right of appeal to players being removed.
Be aware that all tier one international matches which are played during the season will count in the game, and players selected in the match day 23's for those matches will not be eligible to play for their clubs on that weekend, therefore you must give due consideration to the make-up of your squad.
Academy Rules wrote:
Each team will be allowed to have an academy squad of 20 players. Players who are in the academy must be born on or after 1st September 1991.
Any player, who is at any Premiership club in real life, either in their senior, academy or AASE squads, can be bid for on the domestic bidding page. Players who are at your own club in real life and are coming through the academy system must be bid for if you want them in your own academy.
Transfers wrote:
- Domestic (other AP Teams)
Each team has a budget to use in the purchase of players. Domestic transfers between AP clubs, regardless of nationality of player, should be negotiated between the respective managers, and then confirmed on the Domestic Transfer Confirmation Page.- Domestic (Championship and below)
Each team may during the season purchase no more than 5 players from the Championship or the National Leagues. These players must be bid for on the Domestic Transfer Bidding page, and each bid will be considered by me on its own merits before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.- Foreign
To make a foreign transfer (i.e. from any club outside of the AP, regardless of whether the player is English) a bid should be made on the Foreign Transfers Page, which will be considered by me against the posted guidelines for purchase prices before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.
There will be a summer foreign transfer window, which will run as follows.
Structured Window
No cash will be used and each team will get effectively free transfers by way of a draft, which will run 12th, 11th, 10th …… 1st, 12th, 11th,10th… 1st place side. This will run from 10th June 2013 until all teams have had their two picks.
Open Window
Open transfer window, teams have unlimited bids provided they have the financial resources to cover them. Teams may only bid for one player at a time.
Player Releases wrote:
Managers may choose to release players from their clubs, for which they will be offered compensation
Compensation will be paid as follows
£2 million – current international (must have played international rugby in the previous 12 months)
£1.5 million – former international
£1m – top flight experience
£0.5m – other
All released players will be deemed to have joined a Championship side and can be bid for on the Domestic Transfer Bidding page.
Retirements wrote:
There will be no compensation for retiring players. Should a player who retires decide to come out of retirement and play again, then he will automatically go back to the club who he was playing for in the game when he retired.
Fixtures wrote:
There will be 22 Aviva Premiership games per season, plus the play offs. There will also be Heineken Cup, Amlin Challenge Cup and Anglo Welsh Cup matches. These games will take place once a week. A match thread will be put up every Monday. Home teams must be named by midnight on Tuesday. Away teams must be named by midnight on Wednesday. Both teams must provide tactics by midnight on Thursday. Predictions will be open from 00:01 hours on Friday and remain open until 20:00 hours on Saturday. Managers will post the scores that they think will happen from these games (apart from games in which they are involved). An average of all predictions will be taken, and then 0.5 points added to each teams score for each prediction that had them as the winner, and that will then be the final score.
Managers are asked to provide detail as to why they have predicted a result. To be considered a descriptive prediction this must be a full 3 lines long when entered into the text box. If you are not providing a descriptive prediction you will be restricted to predicting a 1 point win either way.
Teams wrote:
When naming your team, not only should you put the starting XV and replacements, but also tactics that your team will employ. Results will be affected by the tactics described.
In addition, each team must have the following:-
At least 10 England qualified players in your match day 23, and at least 4 of those must be in your starting XV.
At least 2 props and 1 hooker on the bench.
All players must be eligible (not injured or banned).
Failure to comply with these rules will result in forfeiting the match and a 1 league point deduction.
If you fail to submit a team for a match, then the other team will be automatically awarded a 30-0 bonus point win. If both teams fail to submit a team, then it will be scored as a 0-0 draw.
Injuries and Suspensions wrote:
Injuries in this game do NOT reflect real life, they will be generated by me.
Players banned in real life will be ineligible for selection in this game for the duration of the ban.
Inclusion of injured/banned players will result in them being replaced by players on the bench, and the bench not having eight players, which may result in punishment if it concerns the front-row.
Punishment for fielding an ineligible player will be loss of one match point for a first offence, two for a second offence and so on.
Financial Rewards wrote:
There will be no rewards for the result of an individual match, instead the managers will receive cash for predicting.
£2m for descriptive predictions
£0.25m for scores on the doors predictions
If you fail to predict without first advising me that you are unable to do so that week, you will be fined £1m for a first offence, £2m for a second offence, £3m for a third offence etc.

He has been tremendous at 8 this season. Really really top class. To me he seems like a Leicester sort of player. Available all year round, versatile and could push on for future international honours.
He is a very talented rugby player, he just doesn't seem to be able to put on any more size.

Always seemed like that would be his issue.
I guess Tigers would the only top 4 club that could need an 8, think Crane and Waldroum are off at the end of this season.

Where will he fit in at Wasps , He's not better than Launchbury and Myall is a good lineout forward.

Previous years they have been top and not gone up.
If you followed the championship you would
Realise they have rotated all
Year and also have not taken shots at goal for penalties a
Lot of the time.
Will stroll into AP

Sounds like you don't follow it.
They've been beat of the majority of top half.
They may go up as it's a lottery but they don't look anything like a promotion side currently.
Welsh have looked the strongest side for most of the season.

Re: Season 6 Homepage II
Andy Robinson( who is a prize Muppet to be fair) and Holley are keen on rotation as previously bristol have been top got a key injury or fatigue and lost.
Bristol will come up easily if
They play the best side.
My brother in law is Jersey
Tight head and played against all of them this year. He thinks bristol are untouchable in playoffs.
I worry about bristol at 10 and them refusing goals but the amount they are pumping in for next year and the fact they are trying to bring in 7 players straight away suggests they will stroll it.
Ryan jones refused 165k a year from bristol last week and has now agreed terms but still not signed due to Castres and Montpelier being interested and trying to muddy waters.
Jones has said France not an option but his agent trying to screw best deal as of Monday.

Re: Season 6 Homepage II
Best side or my you need to build a side. You can't just throw them together at the play offs and expect them to beat a cohesive side.
Falcons walked that league doing the same kind of thing and we nearly stuttered. We were much better than Bristol are now and there's a few better sides thus year.
There's no obvious winner this season.

More bristol news. They have held talks with Warburton, priestland Atwood and Alan wyn Jones amongst other. Wyn jones may well happen. Has been on a tour of training facilities and everything.
All welsh players seem to be fair game whilst there is this dispute going on.
Not sure how they can be in the market for all these players if the salary cap is in effect next year.

Just watched Leicester vs Ulster.
Leicester outgunned up front. Kitchener going off was a blow as he was excellent. Had next to no carrying in the back 5 which is a killer.
How far backward has Ben Youngs gone. His game mangement was shocking.
Flood proving as ever he is not up to top level rugby. Clutch situations he goes to pieces.
Pienaar suits ulster so well and was excellent.

I thought Youngs did ok, but his box kicking was awful, never gave the chasers a chance. He also doesn't seem composed. Worrying for England.

Re: Season 6 Homepage II
It's his kicking and passing options that worry me. Kicking game at international level is key.
Often he picks up the ball to pass without knowing where he is going to pass it. Many times he picked up and had to swivel 180 degrees to find an option.
Wiggles worth has the best kicking game in England at 9 and for me is the form 9. Would start him if 6 nations was tomorrow.
Robson at glos is the next best in terms of kicking game but is at least a season away from challenging for representative honours. Coming on nicely for us and was great against Munster.

Wigglesworth is probably the form 9, and if Farrell is starting 10 it makes sense to start him. Sadly I think we will see Dickson at 9 with Youngs on the bench.

Dickson is not good enough.
Youngs & Care are easily our best options. I don't think Youngs is playing badly, I think his game management has really come on this season.
Wiggles playing quite well but I'd hate to see him and Farrell at half back.

Youngs has had so many chances to make the 9 shirt his own but has yet to do so. Aside from the odd game he doesn't look an international 9 when playing for England.

None of England's 9's have consistently looked international class when given the starting shirt. All of them have looked better coming off the bench.
I would go Wigglesworth to start with Care off the bench for impact.

100% agree. Youngs is still
Living off that game vs Australia. Never going to be top class. Showed such promise but just has not developed his game. Has the Same faults he had years ago in that his kicking is poor and he does not have a great awareness of space and where to distribute.

Re: Season 6 Homepage II
Youngs has had some fantastic games, he's our only scrum half that can reach world class.
Care has got close to 50 caps I think, he's had more than enough chances. He's a bench scrum half.

Re: Season 6 Homepage II
I think Youngs could have reached world class from the point he was at when he made his England debut in 2010, but sadly I think he has plateaud and is unlikely now to really kick on.
He in some ways is similar to Flood, in as much as he will always be able to produce one off top drawer performances in an England shirt, but over a long period he will simply be a standard international, as opposed to consistently excellent.
Care I agree at international level is best off the bench. In terms of bringing impact to a game from there, he is superb.

Youngs kicking is streets ahead of Care & Dickson imo but he can have off days.
Bit tough to say he's reached his limit Pete, he's only 24. 36 is a year older and he improves all the time.

NZ do so you need a good tactical kicker at 9. Agree Dickson is not greatest kicker. Care similar to young. Care a great impact sub though.
Aaron smith for NZ gets kicked primarily for his kicking and his swift service NZ accept that if he is got to he can fall apart but kicking so important to them. All the other 9s in NZ been told there kicking needs to improve. In the interview Hansen then goes on to talk of how he is looking for a new hooker and centres to emerge.
Says how Dagg and Pitua may get action at 13 in a 15 and how hooker is wide open.
Can see pitua as a backup 13 but not Dagg. Folau is going to be playing 13 for NSW also as they want him to have more ball.
