Re: Another Drive4show 'Anything goes' thread
I learnt my lesson. I was banned when I was 22,
I left my job to go to a better one and had leaving drinks with work mates. Kissed the wrong girl and had a gang of a 10 or so lads on my case.. They swung a few punches and I legged it to my car.. They chased me so in my mind had no option but to drive off.
I ended up driving the wrong way round wasps lodge roundabout. (I am sure you know it kiwi as you lived in whiteleaf ). Anyway the cops nabbed me.
The job I was going to included a company car and had a lot of driving involved.
I couldn't take it. And was unemployed for 2 months.....
So no I don't drink drive any more...

Driving the wrong way round a roundabout always a bit of a giveaway, though, mysti, even in Whyteleafe.

Although in places like India that is quite normal behaviour, you just take the shortest route which means going clockwise or anti-clockwise.

There DID used to be an Indian restaurant in Whyteleafe, perhaps mysti had paid them a visit and was taking a shortcut in his turbo rickshaw?

Bald head and goatee look isn't good. If your bald just go all out with a big old wild one a bit like rick Rubin. Im still disappointed that at 33 I cant grow anything anyway. Though when I attempt it the wife withholds sex.

Best I could do would be a scrappy cross between Craig David and Jeremy Beadle. Not a good look.
I have a particular dislike for the "hipster" beard, actually hipsters in general with their fake spectacles, one speed racers and skin tight jeans.
Bell ends.

Those hipsters are to cool for me and admit it to cool for you aswell. It takes a certain someone to pull off skinny jeans..and that sure as hell ain't me!! The only look I went with was the grunge look in the 90's checked shirts and band t shirts. Wished I was from Seattle. A look that didn't quite catch in the home counties..

Nah, It's never a look I would have coveted even when I was young enough to carry it off.
I never liked skinny jeans in 1985, I certainly wouldn't like them in 2014, better than a tracksuit wearing, staffy on a chain pikey, but not a good look.

Went to a concert locally on Friday featuring a 50-something country-ish singer and a 60-something else blues/rock guy.
The number of white males with grey or white pony-tails was shocking. Vermont must lead the otherwise civilized world in such an awful look.
Agree about goatees, usually a massive inferiority complex goes with that look.

Not much snow to complain about really just minor irritations on the snow front on Saturday and yesterday. Probably not as shiny as your brass monkeys; lots of zeros, single digits, and low teens in the forecast. Threatening mid twenties at the weekend; breaking out the summer gear!

Have you ever seen the first aid and emergency procedures in place in a ski resort?
It's like a Swiss watch.
This sort of head injury happens reasonably often along with rather ghastly fractures, however you aren't likely to hear in the news about the progress of Bob from Arbroath's brain injury that he recently suffered in Meribel or know whether he received worse treatment are you?
Did Natasha Richardson get preferential medical treatment, or Sonny Bono, Michael Kennedy, Prince Frisco? They all died, but plenty of Joe Soaps haven't.
The emergency staff wouldn't have a clue who ANY of them were until well after than they were in the emergency department of the hospital.
They just do their job, because regardless of who comes in, they still get paid.

SO you are naive to think that as soon as this happened his own personal doctors didnt fly in to assit.
Is this what you truely believe?
He will have triple gold platinum insurance- which will guarantee the best doctors in the world for each specific case and they will be team of doctors that will take over the procedures.
Or are you that naive to think when a mega rich person gets sick or injured they are just treated by the local doc!
Now you may say- well its up to him if he has the insurance or not.
In this case that would be a fail. He is a motor sport racer! He has the best docs on call

I'm sure that once they learned of the accident then they might well have done (if they even exist), although none have been vocal in the numerous press conferences as they've all been doctors and spokesmen from the hospital in Grenoble. So why would you think they have?
however if he has them, he PAYS for his doctors, so it's hardly preferential. I'm sure you have private health care, does that get you preferential treatment over a benefit recepient, or do you get it because you pay for it?
Are you really saying you think that Schumachers doctors have flown in, elbowed the French doctors ( highly experienced in skiing related brain injuries by the way) out of the way and shoehorned themselves in. Why would Schumachers doctors be any more suited to dealing with a skiing related brain injury than those who deal with them on a frequent basis? You think they would have halted the urgent operation just until his doctors could fly in from Germany?
In any event, what makes you think the retired Schumacher even has a team of doctors on beck and call for his sole use, when he is no longer considered a risk (given that he's retired from racing) and he was merely on a skiing holiday?

if who exist?
Off course they exist
when did i say it was preferential?
He pays for it and has the right to- or his previous employers/current employers still pick up the bill!
He is an F1 driver SR.
You have miss interpreted my point.
My point is that the family may be better off if he was allready dead and the fact that he(probally) is getting the best care on planet earth he is staying alive- yet the chances are they are only prolonging the pain.

He WAS an F1 driver Oakey, , he retired in 2012, why would he still have a string of doctors in readiness for a brain injury?
Of course if he pays for a service, he might get his own team on the case eventually, but why the hell would he, when he's already been treated by people highly experienced in dealing with brain injuries.

The insurance people would have to come down. if the best are already there they are already there. If they arnt they bring them in. Incont implied I was stating that a celeb would get better treatment than an average joe from the same team of docs. That is not what I implied.

I think Schumachers ability was greatly exaggerated. Being half decent on groomed piste and able to cope with deep snow is completely different.
Get over to Courcheval 1600 and Le Tania for some tree runs, shame to waste a day when you are only there for a week.

Re: Another Drive4show 'Anything goes' thread
Skiing is a lot like golf, people think they are good when they are a 14 HCP.
I'm not saying he was a 14 HCP skier, but almost everyone I ever met in the years I spent in the Alps claimed to be much better than they were, and really good skiers/boarders were just as rare as +handicap golfers.
Whilst the video I've seen of Schumacher skiing made him look pretty good in a leisurely 2 weeks a year kind of way, there's no way an experienced off piste skier would look at that particular area in Meribel and conclude it was a good idea to go down it at the start of the season when there hadn't been much snow at the speed he reportedly went through it.
So while he may have had technical ability for slope, he demonstrated a fairly inexperienced attitude to how different off piste is and the potential dangers of Meribel, which is like the surface of the moon, either that or he's just the type of person to take stupid risks, which as an F1 driver, he probably is.
In some ways I see helmets as giving the user a false sense of security, some of the downright irresponsible people in resorts would ride a bit more cautiously if they didn't believe they were invincible.

SR mate you are talking about one of the best motor sport drivers ever.. How can you say he would be a bad skier.
Come on that is nonsense. He was one of the most competitive people on planet earth. Immensely fit. Has a completely different understanding of speed and aerodynamics than the rest of the world. His hand eye cooridantion would also be up there in the top .00001 % of the world.. If he just started skiing I would happily sate he would be better than the average seasoned skier. But he was a big skier anyway and close to pro level....

Re: Another Drive4show 'Anything goes' thread
I'm not saying he was a bad skier, (although it doesn't follow that because he can drive a car that he can ski)
I'm saying that despite his supposed skiing talent, he most likely wasn't as skilled or experienced as an off piste skier, and demonstrated a poor knowledge of the Meribel off-piste or is simply reckless.
Of course accidents can happen, but knowing the bit where he crashed, only an idiot would go through that at speed that early in the season with not much snow about.
I wish people would stop assuming that being a top sportsmen in one field means you are automatically brilliant at every other aspect.
Have you never seen how hopeless some of these guys who are world class at things really struggle in things like running a marathon, playing golf, tennis or on Superstars or something like that.
Do you think someone with excellent hand eye coordination (not sure why that is important for skiing) like Federer or Murray could step into an F1 car and drive or onto a pair of skis? Course they couldn't.
Schumacher wouldn't have been permitted to do much skiing during his race career.
