Hugo Ruiz v Francisco Arce
Not sure if anyone has seen this fight from the weekend but it was a great fight. Two Mexican warriors going at it from the get go and both hitting the deck twice.
The bigger Ruiz had the reach advantage and boxed well keeping Arce at range but the fiery Arce got inside several times and when he did he was winning rounds. Arce floored Ruiz in the 3rd with a left hook and again in the 8th with nothing more than an absoulte barrage of wild punches.
Ruiz scored a knockdown in the 5th which replays would show to be a push. In the 11th he landed a big right hand that sent Arce through the ropes and onto the floor.
Both fighters knew the fight was close and really went for it in the 12th.
Both fighter thought they had one and the judges had all three cards to Ruiz: 114-109, 114-109, 112-111.
Personally I had it to Ruiz by a round but I can see where the judges were coming from their was a lot of close rounds.
Arce was furious and was demanding a rematch which Ruiz said would be an honour. I hope it happens because this fight has put to shame some of the bigger main events we have seen lately.
Here's a link to the fight on youtube it's well worth a watch.

Already seen the fight and its a contender for FOTY easily.I thought Ruiz had knicked but I wouldn't of been surprised if it went in the favour of Arce.
Re: Hugo Ruiz v Francisco Arce
I had it to Ruiz by a round but like I said their was a lot of close rounds so I wouldn't have argued with either winning it by a couple. The 5 rounds that 2 judges had it by was harsh on Arce.

Bit disappointed after it being called a FOTY contender. Nothing on Berto-Ortiz, Conception-Marquez or Lee-McEwan. Was good though, few of the middle rounds were a bit non descript.
One of those which depends if you punish a guy who misses often or appreciate that he's pressing the fight. Following the refs KD calls (not always correct) I had it 113-111 to Ruiz, not sure how they have lower total scores. Can see why Arce would be disappointed, did feel like I slightly favoured Ruiz in some closer rounds.
Arce looked like he wanted to hit the ref at a couple of points, a clever boxer could get him really annoyed.

Not worthy of being a FOTY contender Berto/Ortiz and Katsidis/Guerrero were better. Just wanted to flag it up because the lower weights sometimes go unnoticed.
