Vitali vacates
Surprised this hasn't been mentioned already, Vitali Klitschko has vacated his WBC title.
Who would you like to see challenge for it? Wilder has tweeted that "it's about to go down" and that he's excited so could he be in line for a title shot?

I'd like to see David Haye given another chance. I feel he deserves it.

Yet he remains champion emeritus. Why do fans even give a damn about all of this nonsense?

Wilder is right though, its a free for all for the WBC, if Chavez stops dehydrating, he could get a gift

Re: Vitali vacates
I don't quite understand why the politics fight is the fight of his life though.
Vitali Klitschko is fighting the fight of his life, this time outside the ring. Vitali is showing to the world what is the true heart of a champion by leading his countrymen to battle in the streets in their search of human equality, rights and peace for the great country of the Ukraine.

Be interesting to see how many of the "prospects" come out the woodwork now and are suddenly ready to fight for a world title now it's vacant.

Well well, not long after Haye cancels the Fury fight, could he have known VK was going to vacate? ... would not shock me..

The Fury fight meant more to Haye than any Vitali fight. Hes not going to turn down 5 million quid for smashing up Fury unless he isnt fit.

Showtime should really try to do another Super 6, but with the heavyweight division:
Fury
Wilder
Chisora or Arreola
Perez
Stiverne
Pulev
Very watchable fights to be made above.

I thought those 'to bed' rumours were about Haye and Adam Booth...not Vitali?rycoys wrote:Suppose this puts the vitali v haye rumors to bed then?

The WBC don't rank wlad. What a joke. He should be no1 contender.

WBC won't allow their title to be 'shared'.
That's about the only thing interesting thing about this, means a genuine free for all between 'the best of the rest' and a maybe a bit of merry-round before things settle down. First thing interesting to happen in the HW division since

He had his chance of a shot and big purse when he pulled out of a final eliminator with Pulev....

Nobody cares about Wlad after his shocking performance against Povetkin, that fight was beyond a total joke.

Rankings by governing bodies are utterly worthless. Did you see the WBA SBW rankings the other day? Frampton at 13, Quigg as champ, Rigo nowhere to be seen.

Re: Vitali vacates
Fury vs A N Other followed by Fury vs Wlad in September followed by vacating title to allow Hughie to win in December. That must be his plan now. (Although if he fights Wlad after winning the WBC, won't the WBC just strip him of the title?). I can see him getting past A N Other at the moment, what with Haye and Vitali out of the picture, but Wlad is a different league.

I note that the WBC have done EXACTLY as I suggested. Perhaps I should get paid as a WBC consultant?
It's good that Vitali has finally done the good deed and retired, but it has taken him 14 months since his last fight. 6 would have been enough.
Come on Stiverne!!

Re: Vitali vacates
It would be nice if Vitali decides to fight whoever takes his vacant belt as they've made him champion emeritus, see if they crap their pants and vacate and let him have it back without the trouble of having to beat them for it.

Re: Vitali vacates
Haha actually that would be really funny.
Just as Fury or Wilder or someone is celebrating in the ring the VT feed comes on and Vitali's there saying "Thank-you WBC, I've now found room in my calendar and will use my emeritus powers to become automatic mandatory challenger for my belt back please".

Vitali is an old man now, who would run from him?

Tbh, I've thought for a while he looked vulnerable. His punches lacked pop versus Chisora and his gone from the less-mobile brother to downright slow and ponderous.
But I still think faces would drop....

Re: Vitali vacates
He probably will come back when his politics ratings needs a boost or he needs the money. Hes been retired essentially for about 5 years anyway. Whens the last time he fought anyone half decent? The WBC will probaby arrange a nice comeback fight for him in a few years time so he can beat George Foremans record. They will set him up with a flatfooted stiff so he can break the record.

Re: Vitali vacates
I thought Vitali took on the more dangerous opponents in the last five years.
Arreola, Solis and Adamek were all half decent and very live opponents.
Injuries and age were catching up on him clearly though. hes done the smart thing getting out now, before he deteriorates any further.
don't see him coming back now.

Adamek was a seriously good light heavy/cruiser in fairness, just not a natural heavy.
