New Year big things ahead Empty New Year big things ahead

Post by spencerclarke Wed 18 Dec 2013 - 13:04

Afternoon all,

With the new year ahead I'm wondering who you all think will have a big year? Ricky Burns to either give away his title at last or make us believe again that he was capable in the first place? Groves to make the most of the publicity he has at the moment and get in line for another crack at a world title? Chisora and Fury to try and step up and fill the gap left behind by Vitali?

Also who are the young guns to watch? Their are plenty of well publicised fighters to keep an eye on Hughie Fury/Joshua/Campbell/Yafai but how about others that we should be keeping an eye on? Any suggestions?

Regarding Campbell a mate of mine bumped in to him at a Christmas do in Hull the other night and said he will be hoping to fight Coyle in 2015 in a big Hull match up.

Cheers

Unfortunately you chose the day when a Mayweather bitch-fight was in progress – they’re all too busy arguing pointlessly and endlessly about who he did & didn’t duck  Laugh

I’d like to see Wlad unify or at least attempt to although I’m sure WBC will do their utmost to stop him  steam

Quigg & Frampton to get it on at last, likewise Macklin/Murray/Lee/Barker [if he doesn’t retire]  thumbsup

Mayweather to fight Pacquaio at last although it should of happened at least 3 years ago, failing that take on Martinez or GGG  Fingers Crossed

Lomachenko v Rigo would be awesome too  Yahoo

Thanks KC!

I'm looking forward to seeing more of lomachenko. He could be massive for the sport if the marketing is done right.

Good chance of macklin v lee as it would be a make or break fight for one last punt at a world belt for one of them.

I get the feeling the Quigg v Frampton one will be another year in the making yet.

Kovalov vs Stevenson
Quigg vs Frampton
Roy Jones JR vs James Toney - In a wheelchair race, who's quickest to the nurses office?

Big year for billy joe Saunders I feel and Frankie Gavin both need to step up and progress to euro level at least. Think matchroom will move Callum smith along quick this yr also british and commonwealth champ by year end.

I have a feeling they'll struggle with Callum. He'll blast his way to a decent level in 2014, perhaps Commonwealth, but then the step towworld will be tricky. He needs rounds and a test but might not get that until its too tough.

Groves could have an excellent year, as too could Degale who might/has to make a move.

Saunders and Gavin can't stand still for another year.

Massive 12 months for Cleverly and Bellew who both find themselves at cruiser in a rebuilding job, could be exciting that as surely both their roads lead to eachother.

I thought about Clevely and Bellew but Icame to the conclussion that 2015 will be a bigger year for them. I feel 2014 will be more of a confidence rebuilding exercise.

Originally I'd have said that a year of rebuilding would be a bad idea but if they're campaigning at CW, who the hell cares? It's a nothing division and they'll ending up being two slightly less unpolished turds swirling around a toilet bowl.

Given the right push I think Groves could end up being the next big British Boxer. He's intelligent, articulate and has proven that even at such a relatively young age, he has the ability and desire to get to the top.

Tyson Fury to be handed his 4r$e and his boxing p45 by June. Hopefully this chuckle monkey's hypetrain will terminate in a concussive fashion.

Amir Khan to aquit himself admirably against Mayweather but ultimately come up short, announce his retirement then punch Justin Beiber in the face thus earning the undying gratitude of the British public and making himself a shoe-in for SPOTY.

Carl Froch to have typical British Fighter's Las Vegas Experience (all lights and bulbs, glitz and glamour doing little or nothing to disguise the futility and pointlessness of the flight over) before arranging to fight Andre Ward and being so utterly humiliated that he has to get a loan from Wonga to buy back all the Warrior Points he loses....before retiring.

Problem is for Fury to get a break he will need to fight someone with a pulse, who is bigger than a cruiserweight and can punch back and when that happens he will get badly exposed for the clown he is and KOed rapidly.
Be good to see Frampton and Groves fighting for belts, also like to see Degale up his game and get among the contenders to see if he can live with the top level men in the division.

Not too quick though. The G-force may knock RJJ out.
