Here It Is! The 2013 606v2 Boxing Poster Awards!!!STOP BEING LAZY AND CAST YOUR VOTES TO CONTINUE A TIME HONOURED 606 TRADITION!!

It’s that time of year fellow members of the 606v2 boxing fraternity, the time to appreciate our peers, adversaries and for some perhaps even ‘friends’ here on 606. Continuing a tradition set by Jabmachine2k and last year Seanusarrilius; I bring to you the 606v2 2013 Boxing Poster End Of Year Awards.

I am sure you will all agree that 2013 has been another great year for our boards, many great debates have been had, some heated arguments have occurred and of course from time to time anarchy and chaos has arisen. Yet we finish the year arguably stronger than ever. We have seen new members come, old ones go…but the place remains somewhere where we can all enjoy and discuss the fascinating yet often frustrating sport that is boxing. We have the V2 Journal going strong and a podcast which continues to garner new listener’s week on week.

None of this happens without everyone on this forum however, and these awards give all of us an opportunity to show our appreciation to those we feel deserve it.

As always we have a wide variety of awards up for grabs…and the recipients of these prestigious awards will be decided by all of you.  

You can vote for the same poster in multiple categories. Obviously you may feel that some warrant a few awards…ultimately the people will have the final say. ALL VOTES MUST BE SUBMITTED BY PM TO ME!!

So the award categories are as follows:

1. The HumanWindmill Poster Of The Year Award – In honour of the late great Windy – We ask who has this year been our most valuable poster…they get good debates going, contribute to others & just generally make this place better.

2. Article of The Year – Which one article did you enjoy reading most in 2013

3. Rookie of The Year – An award for the newbie’s; which pimple faced rookie has most impressed?

4. Most Knowledgeable Poster: Whose boxing knowledge raises our collective IQ the Most?

5. Unsung Hero Award: Which poster hasn’t received the credit you feel they deserve? Show it now

6. I am Sparta – I mean 606v2 Boxing: Which poster lives & breathes the site; working day & night to make this a better place.

7. Guilty Pleasure Award: Who, despite your best senses telling you otherwise, do you secretly love seeing post? I won’t tell, I promise.

8. WUM of the year Award: They tickle and they torment. Who has done it best in 2013?

9. Most Loved Poster: We love him and we need him on our forum. Who is 606 most beloved poster?

10. Funniest Poster Award: Wit, Comedic Timing, King of Put Downs: Which posters make you laugh most?

11. Stubborn Mule: Whose unrelenting defence of a single topic/boxer has impressed you most in 2013 perhaps they even got you round to agreeing with them?

12. Most Influential Poster: When they type we listen? Which posters have the most influence on our great forum?

13. Feistiest Poster Award: Who is the poster most likely to go to war on the forum?

14. Lake Placid Award: Don’t bother trying to annoy this guy; for they won’t bite.

15. The Best Threads Award: Who has had the best number of articles in 2013?

Ok, can't think of any other points. All common sense really. After January 3rd I will post a date for the ceremony. I will refresh this thread throughout the coming weeks so everyone sees it. Feel free to do the same.

My hope is that everyone gets involved in this, we have had great turn outs in voting for the past couple of years and I would really like to see it continue, as I am sure those who conducted before me would like also. To those chaps, thanks for the thumbs up in allowing me to do this...hopefully I do it justice and go down more like James Corden at the Brit Awards than Jonathon Ross at the Comedy Awards!!

Well thank you to you ONETWOFOREVER, for bringing about this idea and of course the original concept,

I noticed the 2nd year was lacking in substance when compared to the first...given you haven't done it since I'll assume your commitment waivered somewhat...though it could have been the kick in the teeth of only getting 16 comments 2nd time round that did it

Ego...not sure what you are on about Knowsit; clearly you aren't aware of our ever gracious and modest forum members!...actually on second thoughts.

In all seriousness though, I don't need my massage stroking by anyone...I do this for the pleasure it brings. Though if you could all give me one award then I think it would probably be a fair reflection of my all-round awesomeness on this board 

All in good fun owen, it's good to emphasise the human sphere on occasion so as to draw attention to the fact that posters are people and not just pseudonyms   

If I might make a suggestion, maybe also establish a Most Notable Fall From Grace award. Dedicated to me as I don't post on the boxing section nearly as much as I did on the old 606

Given you have very little chance of actually winning the league I'm not quite sure what the rush is with you Hibbz   

To be honest though little offended at the most unreliable poster remark, given I ran that competition for 5 seasons and also 1 cup and my commitment was certainly not the first to waiver.

I will get around to it but it takes quite a fair bit of time to do (sorting excel sheet etc). Given have been in and out of hospital, had an operation and add to that currently use my free time to do 2 podcasts a week, run a competition over on the football board as well as sorting stuff out for a monthly magazine that we are putting together for the V2 name; I think enough of my time is devoted to this website as it is!!

Also lest we forget this is something which is a time old tradition for 606; which I have kindly put forward yet more of my free time to continue...and over the xmas period...little bit of gratitude wouldn't go a miss.

Its really great that you've taken my rebuttal towards you that was in context, ignored it and gone swinging for left field like a woman latching onto the only thing you can. I have only 2 votes so far; yet funnily enough plenty of 'banter' on here with 11 people commenting....if no one is bothered about this let me know; as I would rather not spend time over Christmas doing something that no one is fussed about.

Yeah Ill vote too. Board seems a bit quiet in the lead up to Christmas though, might not get many.

Yeh I half considered that, if needs be we will extend the deadline to around the 10th Jan. Heck if the Darts can have a '2013 World Champion' crowned on Jan 1st 2014 we can crown our 2013 award winners anytime we please!

I was going to go with less categories to be fair; but 1) someone could just completely clean up 2) I feel it's important to show our appreciation for different things people bring to the board 3) every year the Awards has had a fairly large number of categories.

If you don't wish to vote in all of them, no problem...just cast votes in the categories you do wish to vote for, not a problem All Time Great   

The podcast lads deserve a mention

my votes are in, haven't been on the boxing boards much of late so found it hard to judge certain categories, mine are probably more 606v2 rather than just boxing boards.

Indeed Joey, a valued member of the board. I can only second your comments.

I am aware many people will be busy up until January 5th/6th ...so I will just extend the deadline by a week or so to give everyone a chance to vote.

This has been a stalwart of the forum for a long time now so I would like to keep the success of the awards going.

But must admit I'm hoping for the 6th year out of 7 I win WUM of the year (waingro fluked the award one year)..

Then I know I'll be a certified HOFer........with a record like that.......

I could vote again but it'd just be for myself in every category again.

I won't be voting. I don't frequent the boards as much I used to, I don't recognise many of the new members names. If I did vote i'd only vote in 3 categories (most knowlegeable, sparta and funniest). There seems to be too many categories, certainly more than in previous years?

Maybe if those who didn't intend to vote had opted out this could have been wrapped up by now. This seems to have dragged on this year.

I'd just vote for the ones you feel you can mate.
