January Transfer Window 2014
First topic message reminder :
I'm gonna open this up now as I contemplate watching the shower of poop I'm about to watch.
What strong rumours have we heard? What do teams need? Where do you think the money will be spent?
I shall start you off with rumours surrounding Lambert maybe considering West Ham and similarly West Ham going to Spurs cap in hand to request a loan of Defoe or Adebayor (sources not so tight haha)

The players should want to win and be up for it.
Again not the case.
Good win by Palace.

Basically what we knew months ago with Lewandowski. Hearing that Mandzukic could now be the Arsenal striking option in the summer. Would fit nicely & is a step up to Giroud in every way imaginable. Another positive step, if it happened for Arsenal.

Re: January Transfer Window 2014
The German league is surely just going to become more and more predictable and boring now, with Bayern Munich taking all of Dortmund's stars. I'm very surprised how easily Dortmund's successful side from 2010-2012 has been torn apart. They've lost Gotze, Lewandowski, Kagawa, lost Sahin for a bit. A very worrying trend and we might see more of their best follow them out, I can't imagine Marco Reus and Hummels will be happy at the club if they don't stay competitive with Bayern.

I'm sure there's a lot of teams around Europe secretly happy that Bayern have done that. The chance to break that Dortmund team up further is something a lot of teams will be hoping for. Ruthless, dull, but the way things are

Jackson Martinez wants a move to Arsenal, Well id like a boat and a Frak load of money. Decent player not worth his buy out clause.
Silly Season Rumor: Pedro to Arsenal - seems silly but Plausible with Barca's attacking talent , Neymar/Messi/Sanchez/Tello/Iniesta/Fabregas can all slot in their front 3.

Fernando, I have been reading that as well that we are getting Pedro it definetly sounds plausible. I would have preffered Alexi Sanchez but he is on fire right now. It would be a quality signing by Arsenal, and makes a lot of sense for Pedro who wants to stay in the mind of the national team coach for spain. And Arsenal has a strong contingent of Spanish players there already and Ozil as well, and he would be a player that would fit our style of play. If you can get him for 20 or 25 million I think he would be worth at and could help us in league.

Liverpool and Arsenal both linked with Pedro, but he's said he wants to stay and he has had a nice run of games at the moment where he's been very successful so not sure he will leave, more likely they'll let Tello go on loan.
Think it's quite hard to lure away the players who came up the system from Barcelona.

yeah give the guy who's barely played, when he has he's been awful a brand spanking new contract so he can sit around robbing more money from the club. id be surprised if anyone would be willing to pay similar money for him. more than likely stuck with him. and he's not a decent player he's awful, the fact that a 18 year old, ashley young and kagawa out of position are all preferred to him sums him up

no idea whats going on with zaha, he was on the bench yesterday. kagawa was being his usually invisble self think everyone thought give zaha a chance couldnt be any worse.
instead moyes waited and waited then the rio injury led to the red card and his hands were tied. zaha was warming up for a while but moyes left it too late

Re: January Transfer Window 2014
"Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is going back to Manchester United with a bid to sign England winger Wilfried Zaha, writes Alan Nixon in the Sunday People.
The new Cardiff City chief wants exciting winger Zaha from his old club and will ask David Moyes to release him on loan for the rest of the season.
Zaha has had a miserable start to his career in Manchester and would be keen on the Cardiff switch. And Solskjaer thinks he would help struggling City escape the drop.
Moyes, who is poised to use Zaha in the next couple of games because of Ashley Young’s injury, will make a decision in the next two weeks.
But Solskjaer’s chances of landing the winger won’t be helped by the bitterness Moyes feels towards Cardiff for sacking his pal Malky Mackay
Crystal Palace, Stoke and Newcastle are also among Zaha’s admirers.

well that is worrying or promising !
Man U may be playing him!
But if he doesnt do well ,Cardiff may snap him up. Which IMO is something I and all palace fans will HATE!!(Man U cant give him to our rivals!! )
Ole is an Ex united so will be man u's preferred option,(maybe not moyes though as stated in the article) but I am sure ZAHA would rather come back to palace!

Re: January Transfer Window 2014
Hopefully Zaha get's a game in the carling cup. Really feel for him and i'm sure Fergie must be thinking what Moyes is doing not using him. After all, Fergie saw something that made him sanction a deal for him over 15m.
As a utd fan I am absolutely desperate for signings this Jan. So many rumors on twitter etc that its hard not to get exited but also allot of it is complete rubbish at the end of the day. If we don't sign a couple of players we're finished in regards to the top 4. We have to go to Arsenal, Chelsea and Everton, plus Liverpool and City at home. Allot of tough games remaining so we need new faces really.

Re: January Transfer Window 2014
Not sure how Zaha will suddenly get a Carling Cup game, when he's not fully fit or sharp. Let's not forget, this is a semi-final & arguably now a prime objective to win, instead of being just the 'minor' trophy, which is usually way down in the order of importance for United. This is United's only realistic cup to win now, therefore Moyes will go with the tried & tested, regardless of how bad they are.
As for the signings, I just think you've got to commit & go now & raid Dortmund, while offering Kagawa in a deal. Your going to have to overspend but that's the reality of the situation your in. Reus is a target & offering £30m+ Kagawa or whatever will certainly give Dortmund a headache, especially if Reus' contract is up soon or he has a clause. Also, buying now & integrating the players in now, will only pay dividends at the start of next season, when they are already accustomed to the EPL & their teammates & will help United fire on all cylinders right from the word go in August.
Agree, tough games in the run in too, which shows that buying quality now is needed in order to achieve that top 4.

Crazy signing. We all know Sam has made some dodgey signings to say the least but this almost seems to be some sort of wind up. Feel for Hammers fans but I think you're going down atm.
John,
Agree on the raiding Dortmund. The one thing we have in our advantage is Kagawa, as we know how well he did there, how much the fans and importantly the coach love him so including him in part of a deal is almost inevitable. Getting Reus and then hopefully Gundongen if Reus comes (Most likely in the summer though) is a great start. Just need stop gaps if you like now. I think its worth investing in Cabaye personally, always quite liked him and is available but I think he's off to PSG if i'm right john?? Coentrao is another I want to see at the club and is available also.

To be fair to Sam, he's signed him cos he can play immediately and its loan deal based on appearances, be surprised if he starts more than two games but we have no centre backs at the moment.
With Walcott out so long, will Wenger buy now? Quotes from Bild say he was in for Lewandowski, says Bayern wont sell Mandzukic now but maybe in the summer

Cabeye would walk into the Manchester United team no problem. He's better than ya centre mid you have. He's been in top form this season both domestically and internationally. Not sure how you can't rate him.

Re: January Transfer Window 2014
Contrao would be a huge upgrade on Evra and buttner at LB, although it might not be the most important position its still a requirment, if we stick with evra then Moyes has to stop him attacking because he never gets back anymore and even cost us a goal against Spurs as he should have been in the position the cross for the Adebayor goal come from.
As for Cabaye, again no thought needed. Him or Cleverley? Is Cleverley even a footballer??

Re: January Transfer Window 2014
Exactly Gaz. Coentrao is very good player imo and can fill in in midfield if needed. Cabaye would be a good signing imo. Like you said, he's better than all of our midfielder barring Carrick maybe, although he's more attacking than Carrick which would give our midfield a nice balance.
Ent,
I've been a big backer of Nani for a long time now but this season he's been rubbish. So hopefully someone will come in in the summer and we can get a deal over the odds for what he's really worth considering he's signed a 5 year deal!

Re: January Transfer Window 2014
Think nani has only had 6/7 starts this season, we've played 30 games- he has been injured for ages. Better than young, zaha, Valencia and kagawa.
Cabaye is alright, but not a top player by any stretch of the imagination and that's what we should be aiming for.
If Uefa cup is our aim then by all means cabaye would be a very good signing. Being better than our current midfield is no praise at all.
Contreau can't defend either, Marcelo keeps him out of the Madrid side.
Against spurs we gave the ball away and that's why evra was out of position, he isn't what he was but our fullbacks will always be told to go forward and there is a risk in transition.

Walcott being out for six months maybe forces Arsene's hand to go for Jackson Martinez, Balotelli , Javi Hernandez. Martinez comes with too steep a price tag although his strike rate at Porto is impressive and Balotelli could blow up the club house.
