Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread Part 'something'
First topic message reminder :
Boring game but good result for all the top teams around these two really. Difference between Arsenal winning the league and not is a world class striker, because in tight games like these in the big games a world class striker will finish the chance Giroud had. He's been excellent this season but misses far too many to deliver a title. That's what makes Suarez/Agueor and RVP last season the difference in the end.

Tom Huddlestone OMG what a player. Always rated him. His necromancer yesterday, was just a complete 10/10.
I actually do agree with Steve Bruce. Brazil its not going to be a fast moving game. We need players who will keep the ball and spread the play. I haven't seen an Englishman do it better than Huddlestone all season. If you just keep you're eye on Huddlestone all game, you will see he is a cracking player. Why Tottenham got rid of him ill never know.
Which special on here then, said he was a rubbish signing for Hull

Hudlestone , Barkley, Wilshire Morrison Rooney and Walcott could keep the ball well against any side...

Never been a fan of Huddlestone, to me he was a player who continuously wasted his talent by letting games pass him by. That annoys me more than anything, always will. But lately he's reacted to getting thrown aside by spurs. I'll fall at his feet if he can produce this against good teams. That form against Fulham means nothing, a Fulham side who can let in six goals to Hull are really no barometer for me

I haven't seen him have a bad game all season.
He keeps the ball and as seen can perform moments of magic. Also yesterday, put in strong tackles.
Great player. As i say people who understand the game, will highly rate Huddlestone.

But what did he do at Spurs, Nick? They had a lot of plans for him, but he never cracked it. Fair play he's on form, but people who understand the game will know that class lies in bigger tests

He's really not international class. One goal against Fulham and a few fancy passes doesn't change that

He strikes me as a consistent player, i.e never really has a mare. His Fulham game was his best.
But i do agree Chris, the way Tottenham played didn't really suit him, e.g. too fast. But in Brazil its going to be so oppsite. We need players who will keep the ball and play it slowly and not giving away stupidly. Huddlestone and maybe Carrick are the best in that category.
Put it this way. Id much rather see Huddlestone start than Cleverly, Morrison, Lampard, Henderson, and actually Carrick.
Gerrard, Barkley and Whilshere is my 3 though.

carrick been one of the best players for the current champions, yet you'll have a average player shining in a poor team over him? plenty of players have looked world beaters in poor teams, look at scott parker

Huddlestone is looking good in a very average team, he couldn't cut it a bigger side though. Strikes me as a player who has a big fish small pond mentality.
Not sure he'd be able to do it for England against the big sides.

Funny, cos Morrison and Carrick are probably equally astute, if not better across the park, at keeping the ball.
Bruce seems to have said it will be at a slow tempo so now you've decided it is. It'll be hot, people will tire, but it is about recovery from bursts not just standing still. Gerrard can ping a Hollywood ball better than anyone, but I doubt you'll see the better teams playing a Huddlestone game and tempo

Huddelstone is only young. Many english players take there time to mature. Hulls success has been helped massively by him. Top player and I would love to try him out next england friendly.

That's young. He has 6 years left. And he is good.
The same situation is going on with lalana. Both maturing late but still young enough for a few international tounies.

He's fine, but if Michael Carrick isn't going to fit into an England team then I'm not sure Huddlestone does. Lovely technique on him, with both feet, but hes not worth taking for development sake at 27

He wouldn't really be a development player. He looks developed all ready. And as a part of a passing mid filed for this world cup and the next to get rid of Gerrard and lampard before the under 21's fill the gap.

Newcastle are a powerfully team.
Its just a midfield battle all game. But the arsenal midfield need to get Walcott on the ball. They have forgotten him and he has found good positions.

The most patronising compliment I can give to Newcastle is that the way teams deal with, and any points they take from, Newcastle away could be a big deal in the title race

I don't think thats patronising. It's a compliment and a fair one. Very tough side to break down. But not contenders.

With the results around us we couldn't have had a worst fixture list with both City and Chelsea away.
Almost feel like i don't want to watch the game now.

Christ sake, knew it would bloody happen. Shocking. If he was gonna score, it was going to be his classic tap in or close range header. See that miss he had moments later, dreadful player.
We didn't deserve to win, played poor. Not a happy John today!

Giroud!
I laughed when he scored and laughed even louder when he missed a sitter shortly afterwards.
Gotta give a mention to Mertesacker. Proved today why I consider him one of the best CB's in the league.
