Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread Part 'something'
First topic message reminder :
Boring game but good result for all the top teams around these two really. Difference between Arsenal winning the league and not is a world class striker, because in tight games like these in the big games a world class striker will finish the chance Giroud had. He's been excellent this season but misses far too many to deliver a title. That's what makes Suarez/Agueor and RVP last season the difference in the end.

Shocking. That's our season pretty much over. We're in no mans land now in the table, can't compete with the big boys & too good for mid-table. Be a pretty boring fight with Southampton now for 8th for the rest of the season.

Cute finish by the cute guy - 2-0 Arsenal.
Good amount of grit and determination shown by Arsenal today, something that they sometimes struggle with.
If Wenger can conjure up a good striker and central defender this month, they may just make this title race very interesting.

Please please please just sack Chris Hughton. It's so depressing watching us go to p1ss poor teams and play afraid, negative football.
We're better than this man. He's holding us back. Please get rid before it's too late.

No, I'm just saying our season is pretty much over now. While we were competing it was nice to be there but we're are just slowly falling away now into a non-exciting duel with Southampton for 8th most likely. I see what your saying, that we weren't expected to challenge anyone ahead of us, however, it was nice to be competing with them for a stage but that looks gone now.

Thats why he is still in a job. And he wont walk, no one ever does.

Only 5 points of 4th. Probably a long shot and your next fixture is tough but everyone else is inconsistent so wouldn't give up hope.

we have the best defence in tthe league in terms of goals conceded so i don't think a new cb is a priority. mertesacker and koscielny have been suberb and vermealean and sagna have performed very well at cb when needed.

Bendtner out for "weeks" according to Wenger. May not be a bad thing as it could force Wenger's hand into buying a striker in the window?
thought Torres looked sharp today. I'm not sure the criticism of Chelsea's strikers is always warranted TBH. Chelsea don't really set up for their striker to score most of the goals, they rely more on his movement to create space for their attacking three from midfield, and it worked well today.

What a rancid turd of a team this united side are.
Can't defend. Can't win the ball in midfield, cannot create anything in attack.
All we do is cross it and hope to score from set pieces.
Rank bad.

You could see that goal coming a mile off as soon as Evra just started walking and failing to get back into position
They just have no ideas, like you say bombarding the area with crosses hoping anybody gets something on it

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread Part 'something'
I imagine Moyes' shopping list is a rather lengthy one - that is, if he has funds to spend after the acquisition of Fellaini.
I see United are mainly being linked to Baines and Shaw, but before a left-back, they really, desperately need to sort out the midfield problem. A winger and a couple of centre midfielders would do the trick.
There's a very real danger of not even achieving a top four finish for United, if they lose today.

We've no chance of top four, we are fighting with spurs and Southampton for Uefa cup.
We are rank bad, we've barely a player who can run for 90 minutes never mind all the other facets of football.
This spurs side got hit for 6 by city and 5 by Liverpool - they are rank bad, we should be able to beat them at home.
Also what was smalling doing for that goal, he's in the right position then tries to run behind adebayor?

I was saying this in the summer that utd look weak but utd supporters refused to believe it and kept saying that cos they won the league in 12/13 that makes them the favourites and best team in the 13/14 season.

Completely different side Spurs now under Sherwood compared to those drubbings. New mindset, new ideas, more belief & confidence. Adebayor is now an effective target man in a working 4-4-2. That's why United are struggling again. The recent easy fixtures just papered over the cracks from the Everton & Newcastle home games. Not sure why your surprised by how bad this United team is, especially centrally.

Same players - they are a bad side.
There's bad and then there's this bad, hard to take seeing that 10 of the players on the pitch featured heavily in last seasons title winning campaign.

embarassing dive from Wellbeck, should be a yellow card surely? man u just don't look like creating clear-cut chances at the moment, they desperately need some creativity somewhere IMO. Spurs since the first ten minutes have been very comfortable.

Didn't create a chance against Norwich either, just grim stuff.
If welbeck could control the ball he would have got a penalty as the defender caught him, he'd kicked the ball a mile away and threw himself down.

dreadful defending from United again, none of them attacking the ball as it spins across the box and Spurs go 2-0 up.
Hold on, Welbeck gets behind the defense, and (somewhat surprisingly) dinks a delightful finish over Lloris to narrow the deficit. Game on!!

Delightful finish from welbeck but shocking goalkeeping from Lloris
He somehow managed to narrow the angle yet make himself smaller

my guess would be lee bowyer, kevin davies, savage, parker, boatang, barry, p neville, nicky butt, vieira and nolan would make up my top 10. Would be interesting o see what everyone else thinks would make the top 10.
