Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread Part 'something'
First topic message reminder :
Boring game but good result for all the top teams around these two really. Difference between Arsenal winning the league and not is a world class striker, because in tight games like these in the big games a world class striker will finish the chance Giroud had. He's been excellent this season but misses far too many to deliver a title. That's what makes Suarez/Agueor and RVP last season the difference in the end.

Welbecks place is secure as long as he stays fit, he's one of Hodgson go to men, he's got the work rate and ability to play a blocker role that we will need.

Yes welbeck is an all round player with exeptional work rate. But when he is scoring he solves the problem we have up front. When not still a good option as a wide forward

It amuses me how you celebrate a side losing in the Premier League Which Brighton aren't even good enough to get into as your midfield is Poopie

Welbeck is on that left hand side for England, Hodgson is in his ars#. Nobody else has the engine or required defensive awareness that Welbeck has n Hodgson requires in his negative tactics.
Januzaj has quality but I don't buy all this `gonna be a star` talk. Once teams target him n nullify his strengths, he`ll begin to find it difficult. His lack of pace also will hold him back.
United win but its only a poor swansea n expect Chelsea to be a much tougher task n will probably show United`s issues once again.
I hear Ross Barkley has broken a toe n will be out for at least a month. Blow

swansea are not a poor team.
I have to give united credit second half. Good performance. Its so easy to allways slate a team. But you have to also give them credit when its also due.
Juanzi is a quality player already. He can only get better(or worse , or the same). Nice to see the hype was justified.. We need to stop him playing a Belgium game.. Get the secret service to pay him a visit!

They've dropped significantly this year. No Michu, Vorm, De Guzman or Dyer etc. Teams have gone to United n won pretty comfortably, Swansea were pretty poor today.

Pretty slim, especially after united desperationally offered him 60k a week n the biggest signing on fee for a teenager. Was that accurate? Spain don't offer that money outside Barca/Real.

I only saw the second half- they looked good to me. I cant call a team like that poor..
If they are poor what the heck are the other 100(aprox) pro teams in England that are worse than them. Perspective please. Swansea are a top 11 club.

Barca wanted him before he signed new deal, If he says his unhappy the annual Barca pursuit will come to the forefront

He could be but how legitamite was Barcelona's interestbefore he signed? Never believe stories such as those from the media, especially in this country. They didn't offer him anything - that's all that matters.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread Part 'something'
Swansea are decent team but nothing more. United really ought to be beating teams like that at home if they want to have any chance of a good finish. The fact that their fans feel edgy even before these kind of matches just shows how little confidence they have in Moyes.
Januzaj was very impressive and has been a real beacon of light so far this season. Welbeck's improved composure in front of goal is also a big positive.
Should be interesting to see now how Liverpool, City and Arsenal respond with some pressure now.
Chelsea earlier summed up why I've always tipped them to win the league. Very professional performance.
£32m for Hazard is turning out to be a bargain. Top, top player!

no one is saying any stories were legimate in the past.
We are basing potential interest on what we see on the pitch.

Very easy to bash man utd but you also have to credit us when we put in a decent performance. We've got an average side bar a 4/5 players. We're missing our top two strikers and today put in an excellent performance, especially Fletcher who has been out for 18 months. If we can bring in a couple of players and get RVP and Rooney back fit then we'll be there or there abouts for the 4th spot.

Top, top pro. Good to see him back.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread Part 'something'
i'm not going to kid myself and say Fletcher is the answer to our midfield problems but he's done a terrific job since coming back in from such a long spell out. Him and and Carrick are what we need atm without signings, quite negative midfielders but defensively sound. I think we need to make oursleves hard to beat whilst we await RVP and Rooney to return and like I said, a few new faces hopefully.

You need an attacking midfielder. But you are better covered with carrick and fletcher fit. Cleverly should be loaned out IMO. I wouldn't sell. I think there is something to his game but not good enough for a top 4 team and that is what united have to be.

Fletcher is one of the players I have the most respect for.
He was slated for years but proved his worth in the absence of Hargreaves, his red card against Arsenal for me was the pivotal point to us losing the final to Barca. His attitude is top notch, gives 100% and there is nothing bad to say about him. Doesn't dive, doesn't harass referees is just an all round good guy.

Ferguson always trusted Fletcher in the big games which says everything you need to know about the guy.
I'm sure that he was one of the players slated by Roy Keane in that infamous, never seen, interview when he went to town on the squad in 2005. He's since gone on to mirror Keane in terms of attitude on the field and work rate. Irony eh?
Such a shame he missed a large chunk of his prime years. Great guy.

Adam Johnson outstanding for Sunderland. Took on his full back, put in superb crosses and scored a hat rick. Have you seen an English winger put in a better shift this season. Obviously not saying he is the best winger in the country, but if he keeps it up, you never know there could be a seat for him on the plain to Brazil.
Whilst Sunderland were great going forward, the goal they gave Fulham was just as stupid as the goal they gave United the other night. If they are to stay up, they need to tighten up at the back, there defense just isn't good enough.
Fantastic win for Gus Poyet and Sunderland. Fulham are the team i just can't see staying up. I won't miss them from the prem tbh, boring club.

Great finish by Carlton Cole. Who says West Ham need a new striker!!
Cardiff denied a clear penalty, Craig Noooooney cross clearly smacks a hand, if it hits your hand its handball. Poor officiating. Also the one after tht when Campbell was fouled, also a pen. Lee Mason is a rubbish ref.
Fantastic to see Andy Carroll back on a football field.
James Tomkins what a cu*t, needless foul, i just feel sorry for West Ham fans, time they need everyone to keep there heads due to lack of players, he does that. Idiot.
Amazing win for West Ham, happy for Big Sam. Full credit to him, most owners im sure would of sacked Sam after last weeks comedy performance at Forest, so credit all round.
Cardiff, why o why did you sack Mackay. Going down.

United played well today, if sitters were taken would have won 5-0.
The problem is that it was a surprise, it should be routine.
Januzaj what a player, he did it all tonight at 18 years old and spurred kagawa into action - who to be fair had a great second half.
Thank god we tied januzaj down to a contract, what a player this guy is.

Amazing what happens isn't it Ent when Kagawa is played in his best position, he's an attacking central midfielder not a wide man. The thing is we need to keep hold of him in case Rooney does leave which then opens him up to play in his best position where he is a world class player. One of them will leave in the summer depending on Rooney signing a new contract or not.

You're beyond the pale sometimes. Firstly, it hits him on the upper half of his arm which is straight and not far from his body. And Noone has hit him from about 4 yards away. Linda is definitely fouling Campbell, but I won't care about that cos those things are constantly missed.
Tomkins didnt even make a tackle, he went to kick the ball and his follow through swung up. Foul for me, but not a yellow, just trying to kick a ball thats aerial in between the two of them.

He had a good 20 minutes, after an 18 year old took the game into his grasp and provided the creativity for both goals.
Kagawa made a mess of the beat opportunities he was presented with. To either score or make a pass and despite the fact I felt he played well for 30-40 minutes was still a massive disappointment.
