“Iron” Mike Tyson has taken the next step on his eventful career, and decided to become a boxing promoter. Tyson who was the youngest ever World Heavyweight Champion in 1987 has launched Iron Mike Productions, and in doing so joins a select list of legendary fighters who also became promoters.

Tyson and his business Garry Jonas formed Iron Mike Productions in 2013, their motto: The interest of the fight must come first in any decision-making. Tyson will be in Minneapolis on January 3rd to watch his fighter Argenis Menedez defend his IBF title.

Joe Louis.

Many consider Louis to the best heavyweight boxer of all time. In 1948 he briefly retired, and one of his first promotions was Ezzard Charles vs Jersey Joe Walcott for the title he had vacated.

Jack Dempsey.

The “Manasa Mauler” stopped fighting after his bout with Gene Tunney, he promoted a few events before becoming an actor.

Muhammad Ali.

Muhammad Ali is certainly one of the most famous boxers the world has ever seen. After his fight with Trevor Berbick he entered the promotional business under the name MAPS – Muhammad Ali Professional Sports.

Tyson has admitted in an interview that its basically his name that is being used for this promotion work. Tyson is not hands on in this project, he just shows up at events and weigh ins etc.
