Life of Brian
O Brother Where Art Thou
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
A Clockwork Orange
Sleepy Hollow
River's Edge
Man Bites Dog
Unforgiven
Barton Fink
Amadeus
Troll Hunter
Chopper
Fargo
Stand By Me
Once Were Warriors
Let the Right One In
Silence of the Lambs
Se7en
The Good the Bad and the Ugly
Jaws
Monty Python and the Search for the Holy Grail
American Beauty
Grapes of Wrath
The Gods Must Be Crazy
The Usual Suspects
Not just randomly naming films that I vaguely like - the least watched of the list above I would have seen more than 5 times, most of them would be double figures, The Life of Brian, I suspect, I've seen over a hundred times.
Would normally add Star Wars and LOTR but have gone off them recently and not sure I'd want to see them again.

Re: films you can watch over and over
Interesting comment up thread about the difference between a great film and one that you can watch multiple times - my all time favourite film is 12 Angry Men, which I have watched I think 3 times.
Compare that with how many times I've watched Airplane (still hilarious even when surely you know what gag is next - and don't call me Shirley), the original three Star Wars films or even some 'brain off' action like Total Recall or Under Siege...
Surprised no mention yet of The Blues Brothers, as another laugh out loud comedy in the Airplane and Blazing Saddles mode.

I've seen it once, thought it was brilliantly made, but may not see it again, well not for a few years.

Re: films you can watch over and over
while 12 angry men doesnt fall directly into "depressing film" category it is a serious watch and you need a serious head on you to watch it, similar with depressing/sad films like green mile, legends of the fall, schinders list, sleepers etc. all great films but think ive only seen them a couple of times despite having all 4 on dvd. takes a funny mood if your sat there and decide to watch a film that will put you in a bad mood. it seems only women love the obsession of watching to make them selves cry
i watched marley and me not long after putting my own dog down, needless to say i wont be watching that again anytime soon!!

City Slickers.
Not so much now, but watched that maybe about 10-15 times when it first came out on video. Never bothered with the second one.

Re: films you can watch over and over
it is a very interesting debate about "great films" vs "films you watch over and over". For instance, I think "The Lives of Others" is a great film (ranks in my top 5 or so), but it's not one I would watch over and over (I've seen it twice: once in the cinema when it came out, and once with my family, having given it to my dad for Xmas).
Films I watch over and over again would be:
The Matrix
Die Hard
The Dark Knight

The Italian Job (Michael Caine version)
Zulu
JFK
Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Café
Henry V (Olivier version)
Much Ado about Nothing (Branagh version)
Rebecca
Life of Brian
The Life of David Gale
Dr Zhivago
The Cruel Sea
A bit of a mixed bag from me. This list is not exhaustive, I've just named a few of the more prominent films that I enjoy greatly (for a variety of reasons). I could name other films where my enjoyment is not diminished by multiple viewings.

Re: films you can watch over and over
If I go into the lounge regularly in the Evening I can watch Titanic over and over again.........and he still takes to damn long to die for my liking...........
Luckily I refrain from that pleasure........."If you're coming in here you keep your mouth shut"........I get to listen to those lines over and over again also........
