Is it important for a winger that they score tries?

A team can utilise either, as long as someone is scoring tries and the wingers are doing something

Re: Wingers - Finishers vs All round abilities
Lomu was freakish but also was not always immediately guaranteed a spot because of his weaknesses. Jeff Wilson and Doug Howlett were far better players, scored more, defended better, kicked and did a lot of support work. Joe Rocokoko was a great try scorer but ended up losing his place largely due to his inability to catch the high ball. The ABs could afford to have someone like Lomu in the team because players like Cullen and Kronfield made up for him.
