I was going on Viva's rule of having to have seen them a lot, I idolised Raul growing up.
The problem with a top 3 is the likes of Zidane, Figo, Fat Ronaldo, Roberto Carlos, Cafu, Olivier Khan and Ineista etc all have to miss out

Who else would be?
My time is probably 1996 to present, and so I'd say (no special order):
Gabriel Batistuta
Alan Shearer
Christian Vieri
Ronaldo (Nazario de Lima)
Dennis Bergkamp
Lionel Messi
Thierry Henry
Francesco Totti
Ruud van Nistelrooy
Raul
I've only included players that play predominantly down the middle here too. So no CR7.

All great players. Its impossible to pick a three of all time. The best players I have seen play in the flesh....

Batistuta
Shearer
Inzaghi
Shevchenko
Raul
Henry
V. Nistelrooy
Crespo
Eto'o
No order and I've gone for proper strikers, otherwise Bergkamp would definitely be on that list and Totti. From that list 5 played a lot of their time in Seria A, I used to love Italian Football. My mates who'd say Italian football is boring never understood the beauty of Seria A.

OHHH Crespo & Sheva were sick in Italy.
Batigol & Pippo were my favs from Seria A.
Christian Vieri gets a mention too, he was a beast. Always remember his block head on ISS.
Viva, I would of said Bergkamp is a proper striker.
Everyone on my list was better than Shearer. Apart from his Blackburn season Shearer wasnt that good. Just hyped up for being English. Teddy was better

I thought about Crespo if only for his mad good skills on CM 2001-02.
Inzaghi and Shevchenko just missed out too. Although Inzaghi probably wouldn't make my list because of his propensity to be a) offside and b) guilty of missing a few stinkers.

Re: Euro Division Homepage LXXII
I wouldn't class Bergkamp as a striker, more of a second striker but he would definitely make my list if I was doing both main striker and second striker.
An the Shearer thing I actual feel that he was underrated for being English, if he was Italian or German he'd be rated as the best. You can't put Zola on that list.

Re: Euro Division Homepage LXXII
I'd also have put Del Piero in if I wasn't sticking to just pure strikers. I remember watching him against Udinese when he had that knee Injury. I was only 10 at the time but I'm sure the defender fouled him in the box but no penalty was given. Maybe they all forgot or were in shock after Del Boy went off on a stretcher.
Re: Euro Division Homepage LXXII
Zola was a magician. So good.
BTW Viva, you & Afro have to reverse that transfer deal. It isnt fair by a mile. Last week or not. Rules are rules. Marky isnt here but Im sure he would agree with me.

Re: Euro Division Homepage LXXII
Zola was good only because in England we were not used to magic players. Reading Bergkamps book they said Zola was a average to decent player, players like him were common in Italy hence him being a bench boy in Italy.
Why do I have to reverse the deal? It's last game of the season, that's why a players value drops.

Thank you Nick for being a caring manager and spotting the fault in that deal.

Are you serious?
Look at his goal record again, domestic and international and say he had one good season or wasn't that good. His record stacks up against any great strikers.

I have nothing against Zola, I actually liked him one of the few nice guys in football that rivals fans didn't mind. But I'm not going to jump on the hype of Zola, yes he was good but like a lot of foreign Chelsea players in that time they were just passed their best or not good enough to play for a big club. Zola was good but not the world class level you lot make him out to be, top 20 premier league striker nothing more then that.
Henry, Rooney, V. Nistelrooy, Bergkamp, Drogba, Cantona, Shearer, Fowler, V. Persie, Tevez, are some who come to mind.

I'd still say his better than Zola, done it for a championship winning side and two top scorer awards. His been unlucky with injury but always a class player. Ok take Persie out and out in Owen, or Ferdinand or Cole or Yorke or whoever.
Schmeichel
Neville Stam Ferdinand Irwin
Ronaldo Scholes Keane Giggs
Rooney V. Nistelrooy
I can't remember 94 squad which Sir Alex said was his best, they could outfight you or outplay you according to sit alex.
Bruce, Pallister, Kanchelskis, Ince, Cantona, McClair, Parker, Sharpe, Hughes.

I only want a fresh start.. People to forget the old me and give me a chance.. You don't want to be in a league with me, so what, don't join, I'm not fussed, I tend to not care about people that are like that, you live your life, not bother worrying about me over some fantasy football, that you can't just chill out to, Fan.
I know I may get banned, but I want to make a deal with you, Hero (and Fan). You keep me on here, let me go a full season through this league, then, once we have finished the season, get my opinions off these lads that I haven't been in a league with, and Fan (should he stay and not talk to me). Then, if it's negative from everyone, ban me and the IP address, if it is positive, I stay and continue in peace.
Does that sound fair?
For the rest of you, I don't think my true identity needs to revealed. I may be Azzy or LRF. I'll keep that in suspense and let you find out in your own time, unless Hero states who I really am. But, for now for those who don't fully know who I am yet, just call me FootballLight for now.

George Weah was a gangsta still. Great stiker.
Viva, you put Rooney ahead of Yourke, Cole, Cantona, RVP, Ole so on even though he is dead to you & disrespects the club. You said yesterday he would never be a legend but you putting him over so many others shows how good a Man United player Rooney has & still is being.
Mark my words, 41 goals to go, he will become a true club great & go down in history forever.

That's not true. When I chat with foreign colleagues about football, the names that come up more than others are Rooney, Scholes, Gazza and Shearer.
I agree with Viva. He is under rated because he is English and other countries seem to really rate him

Nick don't know what you've been smoking but Shearer was a world class striker. People go on about Batistuta, Ronaldo etc and forget how good Shearer was because he played in our league, is English and we took him for granted.
I put him ahead of Yorke yes easily even though Yorke was deadly the treble season, Cantona retired a few months after I came into football, Cole second all time premier league goalscorer but he always lacked that edge to be in the elite bracket, Solksjaer I got love for but let's keep it real Rooney is the better player. Yes I did say all that but I never said Rooney is a rubbish player, if you asked me to name my United legend team Rooney wouldn't be anywhere near it.

Very different players. Van Basten would score from the smallest of half chances and was a great goalscorer.
Fat Ronaldo in his prime was just unplayable. His power and pace, along with his dribbling, meant he created his own chances.
If I had to pick one for my side, it would be Ronaldo.
Van Basten = great goalscorer
Ronaldo = scorer of great goals

Re: Euro Division Homepage LXXII
I loved the way Ronaldo used to glide past goalkeepers in the box too. I was watching some clips on YouTube not long ago and he scored a serious amount of goals after making the keeper look an idiot.
The way he adapted his game later in his career was phenomenal too. It was like two different players.
