Re: IPL 2014
what's interesting is Delhi Daredevils have not retained the biggest box-office star KP......
which means KP will come in open auction rounds. There may be no buyers for him if there is the typical air of uncertain availability hanging over his head.
I doubt if anyone will even touch Sehwag or Yusuf Pathan this year

Srinivasan's Son-in-law proven guilty of betting........how does that impact Srinivasan's own position....let's see.
Especially that the committee BCCI had set-up had given a clean-chit to his son-in-law
Indian Premier League spot-fixing probe report finds Gurunath Meiyappan guilty
Indian Premier League spot-fixing probe report - submitted by the Justice Mukul Mudgal-led committee - has found Gurunath Meiyappan guilty of betting in IPL.
http://sports.ndtv.com/cricket/news/220718-indian-premier-league-spot-fixing-probe-report-finds-gurunath-meiyappan-guilty?pfrom=home-lateststories
New Delhi: Gurunath Meiyappan, whose father-in-law N. Srinivasan heads cricket's most powerful body in India, has been indicted for illegal betting in last year's Indian Premier League. A report on a whorl of malpractices, including spot-fixing and betting, was submitted today to the Supreme Court by retired judge Mukul Mudgal, who headed a three-member probe panel appointed by the apex court in October last year. Mudgal was appointed to study the scandal after an internal inquiry ordered by the BCCI cleared Meiyappan and Rajasthan Royals owner Raj Kundra of charges and was challenged by the secretary of the Cricket Association of Bihar, Aditya Mehta. (Mukul Mudgal probe committee report to headline big week for Indian Premier League)
Justice Mudgal's report says allegations of betting against Meiyappan stand proven. Meiyappan was accused of passing information to bookies and placing bets on the IPL. Meiyappan was a team principal of two-time IPL champions CSK, which is owned by Srinivasan, a man who has headed the BCCI since 2011. The Mudgal report will come as a major embarrassment to Srinivasan, who in September last year won a year's extension as Board chief. On Saturday, Srinivasan was elected the first chairman of the ICC in its new avatar. Come July, Srinivasan is set to take charge of the newly formed ICC Executive Committee. (Read: Aditya Verma moves Supreme Court against IPL players' auction)
Mudgal's report also says that the roles of Bollywood actor ShilpaShetty and her husband Kundra should be investigated further. The couple co-owns Rajasthan Royals. The Supreme Court will examine the report again on March 7.
Jutice Mudgal has also emphasized that several stake-holders raised concerns about a conflict of interest for Srinivasan, who heads the BCCI and owns an IPL team. Mudgal said in his 170-page report he is withholding his own opinion on the issue because he had not been asked by the Supreme Court to study this aspect.
In May last year, three cricketers including Test bowler S. Sreesanth were arrested for alleged spot-fixing. The cricketers have denied any wrongdoing, and have been granted bail. The Delhi police accused the trio, who all played for the Rajasthan Royals of taking money to concede a pre-determined number of runs in three different IPL matches. BCCI has banned Sreesanth for life. Meiyappan was arrested in May last year and granted bail after two weeks.

Hi,
When does the IPL start?
I have only really got into cricket in the last couple of years, but have never really watched the IPL. I watched a bit of the Big Bash, so thinking I want to really follow the IPL this year.

Re: IPL 2014
the probe committee appointed by Supreme Court has pointed that there is a definite conflict of interest ( alluding to Srinivasana) and this has serious repercussions on cricket...but held itself back from saying more because they were not asked to by Supreme court.
Inspite of that enough damaging statement has been released by the probe comitte to stir up the issue of conlfict of interest.
Srnivasan's enemies ( which are in plenty) will stir up the calls for banning him from BCCI on grounds of corruption / betting ( as owner of CSK) and conflict of interests.
So inpsite of his lofty plans to take over and rule the world....Srinivasan may soon be finding the truth and power in the old adage " Man proposes god disposes"

IPL 2014: Kevin Pietersen at centre of bidding war
Kevin Pietersen could be at the centre of a bidding war that makes him the most expensive player in Indian Premier League auction history on Wednesday.
The 33-year-old is available for the entire tournament for the first time after being sacked by England.
"He is such an awesome player that every franchise would like to have him," said Kings XI Punjab head of cricket operations Anant Sarkaria.
Former IPL chief Lalit Modi said Pietersen could cost a record £3m
Pietersen has been given the highest possible reserve price of 20m rupees (£195,000), but competition among the eight franchises is expected to drive the cost of his signature far higher.
Each franchise has a spending cap of 600m rupees (£5.87m).
Pietersen's T20 record
For England: 37 matches, 1176 runs at an average of 37.93
In the IPL: 21 matches, 634 runs at 42.26
The current record paid for a single player was set in 2011, when India batsman Gautam Gambhir was signed for $2.4m (£1.45m).
Last year, Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell fetched the highest bid of $1m from eventual winners Mumbai Indians.
This year, players are being bought in Indian rupees instead of US dollars for the first time.
"A lot of teams would be looking for Pietersen and we are one of them," added Sarkaria.
"The availability of English players for the whole duration of the IPL has always been a problem for most of the franchises. They have international commitments to fulfil.
"Pietersen's retirement changes the dynamics of auction."
Indian duo Virender Sehwag and Yuvraj Singh, Australia's Mitchell Johnson, South Africa's Jacques Kallis and England short-game specialists Alex Hales and Samit Patel are among another 30 players given the top reserve price.
Current and former England internationals Ian Bell, Ravi Bopara, Jade Dernbach, Craig Kieswetter, Luke Wright, Dimitri Mascarenhas, Rikki Clarke and Simon Jones also go under the hammer in Bangalore from 04:00 GMT.
However, Eoin Morgan, who has played more matches in the tournament - 32 - than any other England-qualified player, withdrew from the auction on Monday in order to boost his chances of a Test recall.

In total, 514 players will be on sale for the seventh edition of the 20-over tournament, which features eight teams, mixes floodlit cricket with Bollywood glitz and high-profile corporate sponsorship and runs from 8 April to 30 May.
Any England players on central or incremental contracts who are selected for the home limited-overs series against Sri Lanka, starting on 20 May, must be back in the UK by 13 May.
No such restrictions will apply to Pietersen after he was released from his central contract following England's 5-0 Ashes whitewash in Australia.
The England & Wales Cricket Board said on Sunday that it was discarding Pietersen because it wanted an England team based on "trust" with all players "pulling in the same direction".
Pietersen, who signed a new contract on Monday to play county cricket for Surrey, has played 21 IPL matches for either the Bangalore Royal Chargers or Delhi Daredevils, but missed last season's competition through injury.
Delhi released their entire squad last month, allowing Pietersen to enter the auction.
"Kevin Pietersen is one of the world's best players, without any doubt, as far as Twenty20 is concerned and other forms of the game," Modi said last week.
"Now that he will be available for the whole time, I think it will be England's loss and the IPL's gain. I wouldn't be surprised if he went upwards of £2.5 to £3m."
Squads can include up to nine overseas players, but only four non-Indians can be picked for each match.
Rules limiting the number of players over the age of 22 in each squad places a further premium on the best young domestic talent.
Last year's tournament was overshadowed by a spot-fixing scandal, which led to former India fast bowler Sreesanth and his Rajasthan Royals team-mate Ankeet Chavan receiving life bans from cricket.
On Monday, a panel found Chennai Super Kings team principal Gurunath Meiyappan guilty of illegal betting on games during last year's event.

KP is literally the last person I'd want de Kock with. It took nearly three years for de Kocks attitude problems to once and for all be sorted. Most youngsters could learn a lot from KP, but I don't think the positives outweigh the negatives with Quinny. Yes I know I said I'd love KP playing for the Lions, but that's a controlled environment, where Quintons surrogate daddy is the coach.

The English must remain grateful than that a South African served them so well for so long as a decade.....so well that he became their best batsman going as far back as 70s......and their biggest cricketing star post Botham era.......and the most prominent player in their brief Ashes supremacy and dabble with the top ratings....and the vehicle that Strauss, Cook and Flower rode towards their successes .

the equivalent Indian in skills attracts a higher price...because the number of foreign players that are usable in a game is restricted.
Yes KP is gone for USD 1.5 Million......less than what many predicted, but is still the most expensive players.
seems like franchisees colluded to restrict the top prices.

Last line says quite a lot ....
There's a small feature on the Surrey website tonight about Kevin Pietersen having been signed by Delhi Daredevils in today's IPL auction. It ends with this stand alone sentence -
''Surrey fast bowler Jade Dernbach is also entered into the auction but remains unsold at time of writing.''

The nerve of him to even enter.

Karn sharma the most expensive uncapped player........he is a bamboozling legspinner.....one more good season and he should be on India-A radar scree,
Rishi Dhwan is second most expensive uncapped player........and playing for Punjab...he will get a better opportuntiy to showcase his skills then in the star-studded Mumbai.
Jadhav, Rasool and KL Rahul are the otehr guys who can make their mark this year

IPL to be held in India in the window from April 9th to June 3rd. If the Lok Sabha elections make it difficult to hold the games in India, part or full tournament will be in South Africa. South Africa!. After all that has happened!.

Gary will probably get along very well with KP. He generally allows players to do what they think is best for themselves. Think Pietersen will feel like he hit the motherload, after the rigidity of ECB

About time. Srinivasan has been told to step down as the head of the BCCI by the courts. Great news for Indian cricket but not their leaders.
And surely he can't take over as chairman of the ICC in July now!

Re: IPL 2014
india's judiciary is fair.....as clean as the best.
srinivasan gone.....good for indian and world cricket.
'man proposes god disposes'
he created the ICC throne......someone else will come and sit on it...
court found the content of sealed envelope (containing the names if some current and ex-cricketers)....so serious...that it has asked for detailed investigation.
if dhoni was involved.....he won't be shielded....they will find evidence and implicate him.
i hope he comes out clean.
useless he might be as a test captain....he is a great odi batsman and a very good WK
