Maidana vs Broner II
Adrien Broner has envoked his rematch clause, I wasn't aware there was one...
Anyway the fight is scheduled for April 19 or April 26.
Venue will be either StubHub, Carson - Cal or Alamodome, San Antonio - TX. Which ever venue is selected, the crowd will be pro El Chino.
El Chino isn't very impressed as he was pressing for a rematch with Amir Khan.
I'm picking El Chino by KO.

Re: Maidana vs Broner II
Well if team Broner feel he can do much better and feel they know where he went wrong, they appear to be very confident and Admittedly if he did not take some early bombs he did show at times he was able to box him...
But if this is just an over anxious Broner with a bruised ego from all the slagging off, demanding this fight, then he may be just about to fall on his face again.

I didn't think there was a rematch clause, I remember the commentators saying it during the fight. GBP will have made this very lucrative for Maidana, probably said what ever happens he gets his Khan rematch.

Maidana is a fraction of the fighter when he's on the backfoot, so much so, he's practically incapable of punching while moving backwards. Broner had the power and accuracy to force Maidana to retreat at times, in a return that is his key to success.

Re: Maidana vs Broner II
Broner doesn't do it enough to force him backwards for 3 minutes a round, he also can't avoid the left hook.

The problem with that was shown in the 8th round 3fingers, he can push him back but not all the time and when you stand right in front of Maidana then you leave yourself susceptible to being hit, you get hit by El Chino and you might get creamed.

Exactly guys, broner didn't push Maidana back enough, in a rematch, if he intends on winning, he has to do it more.

That's what makes it such a great fight! The key to winning is to stand infront of a puncher!
If Broner can up his workrate then he can win, if he can't, he can't. He's not gonna push Maidana back without throwing anything.

You can understand his frustration. Broner v Paulie was much closer and there was no rematch and Khan, who hasn't had a good performance in years gets Mayweather! Broner was so disrespectful during the build up now he wants another bite of the cherry. Screw 'em Marcos! He had his chance, you wouldn't have got a rematch if Broner had won.

Re: Maidana vs Broner II
If he signed it knowing there was a rematch clause then he can't really complain can he. If there isn't a rematch clause, just don't sign the damn contract, simple as
I expect Broner to do better in a rematch but if he doesn't throw more punches then he'll struggle to win enough rounds. His footwork isn't good enough on the backfoot so he has to be aggressive and i'm not sure he hits hard enough or is strong enough at welter to keep maidana backing up as maidana has shown he can hurt him
Kudos for him wanting to jump i there again so fast as he was pretty humiliated in the first fight

Broner is going to have to change the way he fights if he's going to take this. His inactivity and tendency to stand in front of opponents does not mix well with Maidana's pressuring style.

Re: Maidana vs Broner II
Broner got whacked repeatedly with some big big shots. Hopkins said afterwards that this kind of battering ends careers early.
I would see Broner having a lot more respect for Maidana's power and to fight a very tactical fight behind the jab circuling to the left. If Broner can take Maidana's clubbing left hook and short overhand right out of the game he wins a clear but boring decision.
