To be honest I just use an online stream that's reliable and the picture is pretty good, is decent quality and as long as you've got a decent Hdmi cable then you can connect it up to your TV. Saves you the tenner a month.
Pm me if you want the URL.

Re: considering getting boxnation, is it worth it?
I had it for a few months, I don't think it's worthwhile.
Matchroom have the better boxers who are shown on Sky Sports. Overseas fights are on at unsociable hours, and you can a good YouTube Clip the next morning.
Not worth £10 a month.

Always has been mate, it depends what you want to watch I suppose. Boxnation is 24/7 boxing, so if there's nothing on TV it's a handy channel to have.

They're launching their HD channel at the same time as the Copper Box card which is at no extra cost as well wheelchair.

Re: considering getting boxnation, is it worth it?
I can see why the idea of BoxNation doesn't sit well with some.
But personally, I'm a subscriber and I can't deny that, for what you get, it is excellent value for money. Particularly if, like me, you're not one of these big soft jessies that gets all mardy about not being able to view something in HD!
I guess having BoxNation for the hardcore fan is the 'selfish' thing to do. It's arguably bad for the sport, endorsing a channel which essentially marginalises it that little bit more, but from an individual's point of view it's the only way to regularly view quite a few of the best fighters in the sport (although Sky have increased their overseas coverage admirably in the past few months). YouTube the next day or so isn't always reliable, at least from my experience.
Personally I'd recommend it, though I do view it as a kind of necessary evil so to speak.

Re: considering getting boxnation, is it worth it?
I think the argument that a subscription channel is bad for boxing is misguided. It cant be accused of marginalising the sport when the alternative without it is just less boxing coverage available. Its so cheap as well that a years subscription is about the equivalent of watching two Mayweather fights on ppv if you were Stateside.

Nice idea, Strongy, but you know as well as I do that there are clearly some fellas on here who don't have any mates.
Obviously not me, though. I've got loads. Just because I'm posting at nearly 3 in the morning doesn't mean otherwise.......

Question - If and when HBO and co finally see the light, and stream fights... will we be allowed to post stream links? And what about online sites that have bought rights to stream events? I'm not being difficult, just didn't quite read the terms and conditions.

Actually he spontaneously combusted several times - had to call in the radiactive waste division of the environmental agency to take away my living room furniture and emptied out the febreze factory. My neighbours now think the Shah family are astronauts due to our continuos use of hazmat suits.

Raf, my own perference is no streams are posted up or discussed. The issue is deciding whether something is legal or not. We either have two ways of doing this, the first is taking whoever posts it on trust when they tell us it is legal, which with the greatest of respect to you all is not going top happen.
The other option is the moderation team becoming experts in the field of streaming so we can check every link that is posted to see its legality and act accordingly. As I am sure you can appreciate this is not in any way shape or form practical. All of us have far better things to do.
Also as I have said countless times I really don't see the need to discuss streams on here. I am a complete luddite IT wise and am fairly sure I could l find a link to a fight if I really wanted. I work on the theory if I can do it pretty much anyone can do it. Also should clarify neither myself or any member of the moderation team give a flying one how you watch the fight, is no skin of my back or money out of my pocket, however I do care if the people who ultimately run this forum may kick us off here, and at the risk of being overly dramatic that could happen should we show a laissez faire attitude to streaming or the discussion of streaming on here.

Thanks for posting that Jeff and you are completely right.
There is a little program called google that should help anyone who might want to look for a stream. This forum is not the place.
Re: considering getting boxnation, is it worth it?
Not a problem, Jeff... I haven't watched a streamed event in yonks (bought myself one of those Comically big LED's a few months ago, so I'm not turning back), but as I said, I hadn't really read up the T&C's, so I needed the position clarified. Like you, I'm unfortunately a luddite on the PC, and my mild paranoia means I'm finding it increasingly difficult to click foreign links without worrying that the CIA are on to me.

Touch and go.
Worth it for the international, but domestic coverage is rubbish. Could get a bit more interesting if more do like Fury and do TV deals without switching promoter.
But it's essentially a crap channel. Doesn't work with Sky remote record. Doesn't have HD. Doesn't work on Sky multi-room.
You just get to watch some cracking world class international boxing.

HD is being launched in February
You can extend your recording by 30 minutes in your settings on the box
Not to fussed about Multi-room, I don't like that you have to pay £10 per device though.

To be fair there hasn't been too much difference between the domestic cards put out by Matchroom and Warren. Hearn had a few dud ones as the year went on.

I'm fussed about multi-room because I have Sky in my bedroom and since International fights are the only thing going for BN I don't like that I have to wait up till or get up at 3am and go downstairs to watch the boxing I've paid for. I've paid for multi-room therefore everything should come through to both boxes.
Extended recording isn't the problem. The issue is remote record. Because BN is not a Sky channel or in any way officially affiliated with it (hence why you can't book through Sky or handle complaints through Sky you have to use the website/call centre) Sky's remote record service doesn't record either. You can only record by programming it into your box at home. If you're out you're f****d.
Reminds me of another point. You get Sky, you get to watch Sky on your laptop and on your phone. Boxnation requires £10 for each. So comparable service, even when the HD comes through, you have to pay £30 a month!!

Its a pretty rinky dink channel, especially if you like all the frills. The coverage and analysis is usually just a couple of annoying fat cockney geezers talking out their arses like they are sat in a pub. But its so cheap that even if you dont end up watching it regularly and only have it for a limited number of fights a year it still is worth it for the price. For an avid boxing fans that likes to watch boxing all the time and not just the big fights then it would be a must.

It's a bit rich. In parts of the 3rd world people have to walk miles to find clean water. Toppy's suggestion would be for them to drink Prosecco instead.

true... Namibia is not a fun place to be thirsty. won't be thinking about pausing live tv, or why you have to walk all the way down the stairs to watch a fight when you're thirsty in 46 degree weather, and can't understand German.

Re: considering getting boxnation, is it worth it?
For £10 I believe it's worth it , the international coverage is excellent , otherwise fights like Broner v Maidana etc wouldn't be seen live and we wouldn't discuss it as much if it went un-televised.
I agree the domestic coverage is poor, it just doesn't have the same feel. The main problem for me is the sound , the microphone seems as though it's placed at the back of venue in some fans pocket. Hopefully the hd launch in Feb improves this.

Unfortunately so Jeff, I tend I fast forward him and his little twerp of a mate.
However don't find him as nauseating as the inept Glen McCrory and Mr Bean (Adam Smith) surely sky can pump in some money and improve the team.
