The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome all to the new pub. Hopefully the traditions from the last 606 will continue here in our new home. The only new rule I have really is, see that Tommy Bowe signed picture there above the bar? If anyone defaces that, they're barred. There'll be banter, indepth discussion, some rambling but above all mutual respect as always. It all looks very swish, but we still serve traditional beverages and food. So what'll it be?
Oh if you have any complaints by the way, don't look at me - speak to rugbydreamer cause she's a mod!
Now to fire up the jukebox...

Evening all. I can't believe the big meet up is tomorrow. I've had so much in the way before and it just seemed like it was this thing in the far distance.
I can't wait. It's going to be awesome.

Agree. It has been a long time coming. Things have picked up for me again though after some difficulties with the house I am buying, but everything has come together nicely. My Ben Castle shirt is here, I'm already back home in Wales and now have nothing to stress about before tomorrow. The beer will taste all the sweeter now.
Oh and having just seen your post about your parents as I was about to post the above (I love this notification thing), I'm glad that you can see your family Munsty.

I don't want spare tickets. I've paid for 4 of them to the Amlin just I'm anxious as Ticketmaster messed me about and I have to collect them at CCS and I have no faith they will be there
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Is it Cari? I knew there was something I wanted to watch. Stuck with the darts now.
Here is that boxing thing I was on about. He makes himself look pure chav, but it is funny hearing him go mad with his pure scouse accent.
Best make it clean

Of course, I meant if you hadn't bought any. I couldn't remember if you were going to that or not. I'm sure the tickets are there for collection. Penfro had to pick up his semi final tickets at Lansdowne. The ones he'd bought turned up at home about a week after the match.

Munsty - is it Shingler going to London Irish next season?
Prop - Ponty's O'Connell was off on a red for a very dangerous tackle (which I missed) the guy he tackled landed on his head. That'll cost them....and it does.
6 - 17 coming up to HT.

Is Nick Reynolds at the Scarlets. Saw him in the semi as well and he looks a very good player at outside centre.
Cari, Shingler has indeed signed for Irish. I think they've got a gem there.

Got to be honest, I know Llanelli played very well the other night, but I didn't see Pontypridd losing this game.

Ponty 11-24 Llanelli with 8 mins to go. Ponty set up a maul and replacement hooker comes off the side and scores.

Final score: Pontypridd 18-24 Llanelli
Ponty's 7 being sent off definately let them down at the breakdown losing numerous turnovers. Llanelli almost let them back in through in-discipline losing 4 players to the bin.
Fair paly to Llanelli they obviously found form at the right part of the season, congrats Dreamer and Glas(?)
And that's my updates over and out cheers y'all

What kind of stuff do people like to read when it comes to rugby journalism out of interest. Do you like stuff you didn't know before. Do you only like things you agree with? Do you like controversial pieces? Informative pieces. What do you like to read.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Stag: I always liked in rugby world when they had the yes and no opinions of rugby pundits/coaches/players etc. Thinkgs which get a rouse out of me are pretty good, so long as something is written well and not loving a certain player/side then I endjoy reading it.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Congratulations Llanelli. Feel sorry for Ponty in a way for winning the actual league (of course that's life now) and more so for being on for three trophies and only winning one.
Stag, I can't abide controversial reporters or more so ones that try to be. Andy Howell tries to be in the Western Fail, as does Robin Davey in the South Wales Arseguff (Argus). That's why I don't tend to read those rags anymore.
I like informative pieces for sure and I like ones where I learn things. I like that article because even if it isn't 100% correct (I wouldn't necessarily argue with much of it, if anything), it still takes the time to offer an analytical piece. It was interesting to read about the Leinster and Northampton scrum preferences etc.

Evenin' all.
Stag, I like informative rugby journalism. That could be a well-written interview with a player that leaves you feeling like you know the player better than you did before, or an article written about a match or a series from years ago that manages to bring the match / series to life and you can imagine what it was like being there.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I like to know things I didn't already know Stag. An interview with Mike Ross in the week revealed that Northampton Saints use the French Arrowhead formation in the scrums. Essentially, the two props tuck in behind the hooker and they power forward.
Everyone knows that Saints have a great scrum, that they are going to have a few scrums in every game where they just seem to get a great shove on and even good scrummaging teams seem to struggle to stop them at times.
But most of the onlookers don't really know why! The root is the formation their front row uses. That's how you get the best out of a 23-stone loosehead and an 18-stone tighthead who are both over six foot. All down to the work of the hooker in leading that scrum. I'd say Hartley must be crucial in the timing of the hit.
So that was kind of interesting.

Of course that's just my laypersons interpretation. Scrimmaging is complex stuff. Found this blog quite useful; a really enjoyable read.
