The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome all to the new pub. Hopefully the traditions from the last 606 will continue here in our new home. The only new rule I have really is, see that Tommy Bowe signed picture there above the bar? If anyone defaces that, they're barred. There'll be banter, indepth discussion, some rambling but above all mutual respect as always. It all looks very swish, but we still serve traditional beverages and food. So what'll it be?
Oh if you have any complaints by the way, don't look at me - speak to rugbydreamer cause she's a mod!
Now to fire up the jukebox...

Me! I won't be very good at getting up for work on Tuesday. I still don't have much of a voice either. Going to sleep well now.

Cari he had a superb time. I was worried he and the other lads would get a bit left out during the 606 meet up but everyone was really nice to them, fair play.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Wow what a weekend. Thanks everyone. I'll post something more meaningful tomorrow.

Why didn't I have the foresight to book today off? I don't quite feel 100%. But hey ho, I'll struggle through!

Morning all.
I so wish I had today off (I tried booking it but my boss is on leave so I couldn't get it )
Managed to oversleep my alarm and only woke up at 8:15, not good when I had to be sat down at my desk by 8:30!!
I'm very lucky I only live 10 mins away from the office, but I still totally feel half asleep!

Morning All
I'd booked the day off yonks ago even though I don't drink, so I can imagine what it must be like for those that over indulged. I'm tired though, but forced myself to get up early in the hope that it would set me up for the week
I still don't have much of a voice, but that's probably not a bad thing! I think I went a bit mad with the Leinster support on Saturday

That's ok Dreamer, you'll fit right in where you work!
Cari, there's no point going half measures though is there? Just think, whenever a side goes down to a deficit by half time in a final, punters will refer to that match, and you will be able to tell everybody "I was there".
Are you taking your flag Prop?
MickyT, I'm in bed and all. However I am waiting for a Physio appointment as my back is in bits.

Morning Micky T
How many times have you watched the match again already? Glad you all got home safely.
It said on the news this morning that they might have to close the British airspace again because another volcano's gone off in Iceland.
Glas - I've already been looking at the press photos to see if I spot anyone familiar. I wonder if they'll bring out a DVD I wouldn't mind getting it cause I'd like to watch the match again from a TV perspective. Hope the back's sorted today for you.

Cari. Only watched the second half in huggys yesterday because it didn't record properly. Forgot to record it. But the GF did so I suspect I'll get to see it later at some stage

Kia ora, mauri ora all.
I'm in work, feeling utterly exhausted this morning. The 7s was great fun yesterday, but could have done with an afternoon nap .
A great quote for Cari from my friend Linda (who's an Aussie with Italian parents) during the afternoon. As a team in red & white training shirts warmed up in front of us she asked "Kiwi, who're they?"
Me "Dunno, can't read their shirt badges."
L: "It must be Italy, they're all hot"
Turns out it was Wales ...
Wales wound up being edged out in the semis 19-21 by South Africa, who beat Fiji in the final (Fiji utterly smashed NZ in the other semi and didn't appear to have much left come the final).
Well done to Samoa who won the Plate, Scotland who scored after the final whistle to edge Kenya for the Bowl, and England who beat Portugal for the Shield. NZ have won the series with a round to play, but any one of 4 teams (England, South Africa, Samoa and Fiji) could finish 2nd depending on results in Edinburgh next weekend http://www.irbsevens.com/standings.html

Kiwi I bet she wants to come to Wales now! Although I wouldn't want to shatter her illusion....
Shame the Welsh 7s didn't make the final, but well done to all the winners at the event....and well done you, Kiwi for making it and staying awake! Now that's stamina. Or did you do what Hughie did and have 180 espresso coffees and cans of red Bull?

Linda headed home before I realised it was Wales Cari, I haven't decided whether to tell her at netball tomorrow or not
There was a couple of coffees and a red bull involved - though in fairness that's a normal day's consumption . A wee doze on the train helped somewhat (I only made the 8.15 train by virtue of some obnoxious flipping soloists slamming their hotel room doors and klomping out at 7am)

Morning all. Absolutely shattered but knowing it was because of such a fantastic weekend makes me not care.
Willie Mason, the controversial Ozzie League player has signed for Toulon and will play for the Barbarians.
Left my camera in my parents car so going to have to wait for it to be sent back over to me.

Bore da pawb (Good morning all)
What a GREAT weekend folks and I’m glad everyone seems to have enjoyed it. It was fantastic to meet up with new people and put faces to names (Even more faces & names for me to forget now !!) Thank you for making it special, as Gibbo might put it ‘you all make it nicer’
Wish I’d had today off, had a wee lie-in and got in to the office at 09:30 with zero enthusiasm for the day ahead. Still, tucking in to CRUNCHY NATURE VALLEY bar now so that might help
That might have been the last BBC 606 Pub meet and what a way to go. However, it was also the first 606v2 Pub Meet, so let’s keep these going. Now where’s that fixture list for 2011-12 ?

So many great memories from the weekend. Crazy and funny.

Peter Bills article on the HEC final from the NZ Herald, reads a little like it was orginally written for Irish readers: http://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/news/article.cfm?c_id=4&objectid=10727535
Penfro, I'd like to say thanks so much again for all your organisational efforts, especially the fundraising effort at lunch on Saturday (I see MickyT has mentioned it too while I was typing). Gibbo was almost the second person to cry Sat, as I had to blink away a tear when you mentioned splitting the collection between your local meningitis child and Christchurch. After reading http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=10727561, the cash people put in will be appreciated. As an aside, I managed to make just over £100 profit from winning (for the 5th year out of 7 ) an NZ-based English soccer premiership tipping competition, so the donations pool has gotten bigger again.
Roll on the next meet, can't wait for the next one!

I can't get a proper link up on my iPad, but that song they played over the tanoy in the stadium.
It's called days like these by Elbow. That song just resonated with me so much during the end of the match and just made me feel I was part of something big. And not just the match but the whole meet.

For those who where at the Amlin on Friday and saw me in my ‘interesting’ shirt. Here are some more details on the shirt
http://www.lovell-rugby.co.uk/Rugby-Shirts/UK-Clubs/Handstand-Appeal-Charity-Rugby-Shirt
and the charity
http://www.handstand.org.uk/

Half the money we raised (over £200 in total, but not acurrately counted yet) at the buffet will go to the charity. The other half going to the Christchurch Fund (see KiwiRedDevil for more details) Thank you all so much
